I should have done this upgrade a year ago!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I built this burb to be a work truck and work it has done. I also wanted it to be part monster truck so I added a 7" lift and 38" tires. While it has been more than capable on trips to Death Valley, Montana and Utah, it has squatted very heavily when loaded up towing a trailer.
I bought these airbags a couple of years ago planning on installing them during the build, but never found the time.
I made some mounts and installed them over the last few weeks and the difference has been substantial. Combined with a new OffRoad Design Swaybar, my monster work truck, feels like a monster work race truck!

Your Burb is about as bad ass as a square body gets. I own the Holy Grail of square bodies. It is a 1991 Chevy Silverado V3500 3+3 Crew Cab that I have owned for about 20-years. It is the only year square body that came stock with a 4L80E over-drive transmission connected to a NP205 transfer case. It has 10" of lift with 38" tires. It has a lot of suspension and steering mods from ORD and DIY4X. It has a similar stance, hight , and look as your Burb, but is no where near as trick as your Suburban. I have not seen you on CK5 in a while.

The more I watch these builds, the more I realize that my 2002 F350 7.3L Diesel (SRW- 9ft flatbed), ZF 6spd manual, w/ manual transfer case and manual locking hubs. (dana 60 front and dana 80 rear) -- is a perfectly built truck. lol.. This thing has all the upgrades that you builders like to throw on your builds.. I love it. I was thinking of swapping a Cummins in this thing eventually--- but I'm at 330k miles and still going strong. So I guess I'll just keep running it. There's a channel called "zip ties and bias plies" -- that loves these 7.3's, and he has a second tank where he literally dumps old motor oil and runs his truck off of the old, used, black motor oil from oil changes. lol.... I've seen other channels run these diesels with used veggie oil from like a KFC or Mcdonalds deep frier.... but old engine oil?? lol-- it's hilarious to watch--- apparently it works great.

James, I think I see a potentially serious issue with your Viair compressor. Maybe it's the shadow of the video but it looks like the back of the air filter housing is missing so dirt and sand will get sucked into the compressors cylinder. One grain of sand will score any compressor cylinder to piston clearance preventing the compressing of molecules. I build 12 and 24 volt compressors for a living and internal sand/grit will destroy the compressor in a matter of seconds. Hopefully I'm wrong and the cover is there. Keep up the good work on the square bodies!

I'd make sure you drill some holes in your little cradle cups that hold the bags at the bottom. because it looks like they could/ will hold water and sit there and rot the bag over time. So a few simple 3/8's holes will give the water somewhere to drain out.

I have a question for you. So I have a 2006 ram 3500 dually flat bed with a blown motor I'm using for parts for my 81 K30 crew cab 12 valve swap. I'm swapping the flat bed, rear axle and trans (g56) off the ram into the K30 for the build. The questions I have are, 1) is a 4 link kit really worth the ride quality over custom off road design leaf's? 2) Do i swap everything into my K30 like you and most people do or do I just put the cab on the frame of the ram? I know my kingpin is a better axle than the aam 9.25 on the ram but for street driving and towing which is what ill be doing with the truck is it rally worth all the extra work? If I swap the cab of the K30 onto the frame of the ram all I have to do is move the motor and trans backward 4-5 inches and new cab mounts. Just looking for your option on the matter. thank you.

Yea, I didn’t get into it in this video but I ended up getting the driveshaft shortened by about 4 inches and I needed pinion shims (under the leafs) to get my driveline angles happy again. I knew all this going in though, partly why I procrastinated. Just wish I hadn’t after driving it! So much better!
