Thanks for making this video and posting. I hope more people see this and understand some of the scams in Thailand. In Bangkok, I was stuck in the back of a taxi with a driver that refused to use the meter. He kept saying he was taking me to girls, girls, girls. I kept saying no, drop me off at hotel or shopping mall, but the driver refused to stop. He got really angry and aggressive, started yelling at me. It was the scariest and worst experience I had in Thailand. Be careful, there are scammers everywhere.

I rode a Tuktuk and I didnt know it was a scam. He brought me to a gold shop that allegedly has a last day sale. I went in the shop and bought a fridge magnet. The driver was excited when he saw me with a plastic carrier, only to be dissapointed when I showed him what I bought LOL

20 years ago when I was young, during my 1st trip to Bangkok and I got the same scam, same script, same route and at the end bought a useless piece of blue sapphire. I paid dearly for that lesson for being naive. And that was my 1st and last holiday being scammed.

I did the same thing in 1984. I still own that sapphire....hahahahaha. I returned to Bangkok again in 1985 and the same scammer walked up to me with the same script then turned around and walked away. As he walked away I said , "you recognize me don't you?" he just kept walking.

Last time I visited Bangkok, I asked the stupid tuk tuk driver to take us to a good restaurant. 5 stops and 3 hours later we arrived at a good stupid restaurant. You can guess where the other 4 stops were at. Ridiculous scams

I fell for this the first time I was in Bangkok. I just didn't buy anything. It just wasted a bit of time. I've heard the tailor shops show nice fabrics and high quality samples, but the suits and shirts are garbage when they arrive.

They did this too me 2 yrs ago...the guys at the tailor shop locked the doors on me and my brother and we're threatening us to buy a suit... luckily we got out of there without buying anything

Yep we got scammed 2 weeks ago. First time in Bangkok 1000baht tuktuk tour went to a few nice temples then ended up in a designer tailor shop where they make all the top high end brands. Aggressive salesman trying to sell you a suit. They got really annoyed when we walked out with nothing.

I think TukTuk driver made a deal with all shops to feed the tourists and get money from the shops , normally this not harm the tourists but it wastes time, just say no if you aren’t interested

The shops go to the tuk tuk drivers and tell them they will pay for their petrol. Some only pay the driver if the tourist buys something and this makes those drivers more aggressive. It seemed like this driver was getting paid either way

I almost had a fight with the tuktuk driver when i realized they tried to scam me.

We just got scammed that way beginning of last week. We paid 80000 BHAT for a 20 day trip around Thailand for 2 persons. The tourism police won't help us. They say that a connection between the first guy, the tuk tuk driver, the temple guy and the TAT/suit shop can't be proven. We don't know what to do.

That tailor shop is immortal! I remember it since 2000 when the Tuk Tuk driver took me and a friend for get a 4 gallons gasoline coupon. I can also remember the old lady at Lumphini park selling corn seeds for pigeons, telling you is for free and for good luck then asking you money afterwards. Every time i back to BKK i stop there for find her and get as many corn bags as i can and run away :D

that is exactly what happened to me few year ago when I was in bkk for a week. most of the retailers were Indians. It was a waste of time for me since I had to try to say no to the sellers who were trying to sell me their shiiiiiiiiiiiiiit. fortunately i bought nothing and got rid of them. but the tok tok guy was not happy about it. tnx for the video. I will be in thailand from sep 2 for a month and if you are around that would be good to hang out together. I will go to pattaya upon arrival. take care. It’s not a scam it’s just a Bangkok tour. Common knowledge.

Why you wearing a mask???

This gives a bad image to Thailand. Lots of tourists say they even got in physical fights with these scammers. It is sad and the need for money makes these scammers thrive.

Not only tuk-tuk say temple is close. Also taxidrivers will say it an offer you to bring you to another temple :0

Basically the shops just pay tuk tuk drivers in petrol to take tourist to their shops. Some are just better/more honest than others. The driver in this video said that he still gets paid even if you don’t buy; some shops will only pay the driver if the tourist buys, essentially making him another sales person.

From what I know they are all in a syndicate. They get close to 30k Baht a month for being a tuktuk driver. The petrol thing is for you to pity them and just go along with the tour (time wasting).

I just tell ppl I dont have money, bot all travels are loaded with money. Also I have no interest to buy a suit.lol. I took grab all the time, just so I could avoid any scams

Usually stuff like that happens close to the grand palace and other main tourist attractions.

As annoying as it is. There's a reason why they take you to these tailor stores. The tuk-tuk drivers get fuel coupon from the tailor stores for each customer they bring. Its sucks but someone need to make a living somehow.

Naik tuk tuk sangat mahal ...tidak worth it ...jarak 3Km aja bisa minta 200-300 bath ( 70-100rb rupiah ) beda hrga antara orang lokal dan turis Grab /bolt memang ada ...lebih murah dr Tuktuk ..tp susah dapat alias bnyak cancel driver nya ...kacau ...😮..hrus pemerintah Thailand lebih memperhatikan lagi mslh transportasi .... Blum Lg mayoritas org Thai asli itu jutek dan tdk Ramah ..pdhal mreka juga hdup ngandelin turis ...😮😮😮

I was in Bangkok 2 months ago for the first time. I got "scammed". I am really still struggling to understand what is the scam... They gave me a tour of several places I wanted to visit, I bought a suit at a really good price in the second tailor we stopped (I wasnt interested in the prices of the first one) and they returned me to the place I was picked. Around 3h tour for 100 baht. As said, I didnt feel scammed at all. I think the most shady part of the scam is the "tourist agency", but I strongly expressed that I didnt want to stop there. All in all, I didnt feel scammed.

@@MartezJoe150 9000 baht, if remember correctly. I dont know if that is too much or not for BKK, but where I live, a custom tailor made suit is at least 5 times that.
