Yeah, buffing zhu xi before reworking zhuge nu would probably be a disaster given the execution asymmetry of play / counterplay. I hope that's why they haven't been buffed, because they've recognised the necessary sequencing of how to go about modifying them. But Zhu Xi are . . probably also just the worst designed variant. They really are just China but worse, or at release, China but better. There's very little about them that is compelling and distinctive, as compared to having a hero unit, OotD's whole thing, or Ayyubid's radical shake-up of the house of wisdom and GA.
I know a guy who used to be Platinum I when Sultans Ascended arrived. He was and still Zhu Xi main with hundreds of ranked games. After the nerf he's constantly at Silver I-III. It is his real level. I guess, this civilization or even zhuge-nu as a unit needs some sort of redesign. Not exactly fond of idea bringing back civilization that makes ranking experience worse for everyone else. Your thoughts on possible changes are quite reasonable. Better against archers, worse against things that should counter zhuge-nu.
I see what the caster are talking about rework and some buff to the civ, but truly i have mix feeling, a few months ago zhu xi was unstopped because their easy farm transition. Now the main zhu xi defend it a bad civ and need huge buff (not caster words, "community " words) the problem i see as a non chineses or zhu xi player is that they expect to make cho-ko-nu and win all games. And i think its more the player fault them the civ. Wam01 made MMA and archer to counter Cho-ko-nu, but the duck only did cho-ko-nu, maybe if he did some horseman to kill the archer or use them as a meat shield, i dont know. I dont denial to the civ be buff or thr unit reworked, but do it in a way that stop the ideia of one unit that kill all, and as a watcher that was the feeling i had while watching the duck game, he expect that cho-ko-nu should win, always. For me, this game was more wam01 victory, if i was the hre player i would lose the game
I think that the zhugnu could be reworked to be fast firing instead of burst, sort of like Guilded Archers. They should striggle to kill MAA and knights, but be better than archers. shoot ans scoot will be worse. Burgrave should also be reworked, add a unit discount, 20% or so, at the cost of some production speed. It would allow for more mass because the limit is how many you can afford not how many you can produce.
Idk why he didn't just go Fast Castle vs HRE?

If you try to scale heavily armored units in the same age vs zhuge nu you're going to have a substantially harder time denting them than if you walk into a mass of archers.

@@KillerPigeon Chu ko nu and archers are not the same unit though. I get it that chu ko no kinda break the paper-rock-scissors color pie.
horrible take to say they need a re-design or a nerf.. they completely need a buff.. to win you have to play absoutely perfectly, they are completely one dimensional unfortunately. HRE just has to go castle like this and put a bit of pressure, they are faster and stronger

That's an issue of zhu xi needimg a buff though. Which is what I said in the video if you watched the whole game. Zhuge nu conceptually is flawed. Any time you're dealing in damage instances in a game that can only reduce damage to a minimum of 1 you have to be very careful about the way you implement such units.
