The Cutterpillar is the best. I have had mine for years. There is no going back after you get one. Never have to change blade.

It's 100% worth the investment. It has a few quirks (as any tool does), and I do still keep my regular trimmer on hand. But it's much sturdier and makes more reliable cuts overall than my other trimmer, and it's safer around my kids because there's no exposed blade.

Thank you for your honest personal opinion. I sent mine back, it was not a cutting tool for me. It literally chewed up some of my best card stock. I love my Fiscar rotary blade cutter, just haven’t found another to beat it’s cutting performance. I just wish it wasn’t so bulky and it didn’t take up so much room when unfolded.

That is my favorite as well. I found that the chewing up could be not pushing the rotary blade to the stationary blade. The cutter pillar was the same way and that’s why I sold it. I totally agree about the size as well.

I think Tim made this trimmer to be useful to people who cut chipboard a lot, and I really think this would be right up your alley May May! It's for all kinds of papers, but shines when cutting thicker papers and chipboard, so that alone would be great for people who make albums and folios of all kinds.

  • @pineapplepapercrafts

That makes sense a lot of the stuff he makes with is thicker weight paper. Which I make a lot of folios and use chip board a lot. Maybe I should look into this trimmer.

Thanks for sharing your review. ❤️ I have a WRMK rotary cutter that has a full platform that I absolutely love and compared to it I still like mine better but it is pricey too. I believe I paid around a $100 for it. I don’t think it’s available anymore but it does fold for easy storage but measurements are all lined up and no doubts or confusion to where your cutting. Also VERY sturdy platform. That being said I like Tim Holtz products so I’m sure this is made well and good investment for those wanting to cut thicker paper, etc and does it often enough to warrant price. I agree this would be something nice to consider to have on your wish list as a gift or use their discounts or points in your store if they are members in your club.😊 Blessings and hugs❤️

I bought this trimmer because of its features. I’m not loving the “no mans lands on the ruler” in multiple spots; but I love cutting multiple pieces of cardstock at once with confidence. I have Tim’s full size and small guillotines, along with a Fiskars Surecut and Cricut trimmers. Each has their own purpose.

“Media cutter” says it all. It’s capable of cutting everything from thin cardstock to chipboard for hand made projects like book and journal covers plus other 3D mixed media projects. Had I known that I’d have bought one in a heart beat back when I created multiple swap groups making a variety of mixed media projects to swap! Cutting with an exacto and a straight edge, then sanding the edge ~ all the work involved just to get the base of a project to where you could build on it. I’m sold! Thanks May May.

You made me realize something. I'm so used to using guillotines where you don't really see the blade area that I *never* use the guide on the cutting edge of a rotary trimmer, I always line the paper up on the ruler. In other words, if my piece is 8.5" wide and I want a 1/4" strip, I line the left side of the paper up to the 8.25" mark and cut.

  • @debt.8971

I bought one. I have been searching for the paper trimmer that earns the title “favorite “…this is different than any of my other trimmers, and I needed to get used to it. And I love it! I use it for cardstock. I had a piece or two early on the looked jagged along the cut line, then remembered TH said angle the cutter in at the bottom. That solved that problem. Smooth cut every time now. The only downside was when I cut paper between 6&7 inches.- measurements difficult to determine. Took care of that by aligning a ruler under the guard to double check. It is expensive, but I consider an investment to make me happy!

I have a different brand that I paid more for but like you I still need my Fiskers cutter with the wire in it for sitting where I work. I love that I can cut chipboard but what I use rotary the most for is cutting the mag et sheets that I store my dies on, I buy the magnetic air vents at Home Depot. They come 3 to a package and I get three 5 inch wide sheets so that means nine sheets for my magnets. I do have to cut some off the bottom because they are a little longer than I like.

I have a paper cutter similar that I picked up for practically "nothing" at a Goodwill and it has replaced almost all of my other cutters. If I didn't already have it, I'd probably get this. What I like is that the "blade" (because there isn't the traditional blade) NEVER has to be replaced!!!

I’ve saved a lot of money not buying blades. I do have a rotary trimmer I had before the Guillotine trimmer that I use when I need to cut 12x12 but that is very far and few between.

I bought this trimmer because I'm scared of guillotines (don't judge me) and I hate trimmers where blades need to be replaced. Plus curved cuts were an issue. I bought this and apart from the fact that I find it hard to judge where it'll cut exactly I love it. I cut plastic sheets, multiple sheets of watercolor paper, Layered die cuts that are hanging off the side of the card etc. I hope I will never have to buy another trimmer in this lifetime.

I do have this and I'm ok with it now I've figured out how to use it. I have 2 trimmers with replaceable blades, the orange ones (Fiskars I think) and I am so frustrated with them. One of them the blade space is so loose that every time I lift up the arm the blade goes flying out. The other one the blade arm doesn't lift up properly and I slice my arm on the very sharp blade. I have 2 guillotine trimmers and I feel that they need sharpening, I get a lot of bent paper. I miss the blade trimmer that I used to have. Bought it in the early 2000s and I only recently needed to replace the blade.

It isn't something I would buy or probably use. I will not pay $100 for it. It would have to be a gift.

I do wish for the price it had a transparent base with a light up board. I feel like $100= a place to put batteries of some sort🤣🤣🤣 but I already know.. ill still get one eventually! I have tye cutterpillar and wanted it for YEARS..... its isn't my fav at all! Idk what in the FOMO.. but It was a regret. ALTHOUGH.. I love love love the cutterpillar Scoreboard! I never use the bar though. Idk why there isn't a better all in 1! We r memory keepers has one,but the blades aren't great.

To be honest, this paper cutter is the same as te Friskars ProCision Rotary Bypass Paper Trimmer. I have had this paper cutter for over 5 years now. I'll stick with that.

They both have the same non dull blade for sure. I think it’s more like the cutter pillar then the Fiskars because it runs on one track not 2 like the Fiskars. Maymay even pointed out you had to push it into the other blade, if you don’t it destroys your paper. Fiskars pro doesn’t have that issue being on 2 tracks. It’s a small difference but I got rid of one cutter because of it and kept the other. Other then that and size very similar indeed

Maymay, have you ever used the Cutterpillar trimmer? If so, did you like it? It's similar to Tim Holtz.

I don’t want to have to learn a technique to make a $100 trimmer work properly.

Umm I think I'll choose to eat this week. No offense to anyone, but with the prices of things now a days I just don't NEED it that bad. Thank you Maymay.

It looks like a fantastic trimmer BUT the Scrooge in me I guess is for that amount of money I don’t want to have to buy replacement blades. I’m sure unless you cut a whopping amount of cardstock that purchase might be few and far between but I think I might stick with a self sharpening blade on my guillotine. Blessings!!!

This trimmer will not cut any thicker material past 6". You cannot measure accurately if you want to make a book cover over 6" because the extended arm has no stop rest and there is only one way to use it. If there was a middle extended arm with a measure it would help. I don't need this for paper, my Fiskars does that fine. I own this one, so it's too late for me.
