Indeimaus it’s fascinating how we as the viewers get so used to the personas y’all make use of to entertain/educate/ reach out to us, and then seeing you all just drinking water on the patio. You are all somewhere in that space that pop culture idols dwell and we forget that you all are complex and multifaceted beings. Arin is the guy who laughs, is obnoxious, loses his cool, and makes us laugh at his childish games energy. And now here he is showing his soul with his friend like I do when I’m sharing beers with my brother. You all are precious in what you all offer, but seeing you be human also makes y’all just seem even more than real

He's spoken about the fact that he's not at all like he is on the show and being on Game Grumps kinda gets him in that performer mode where he's not FAKING a persona, but it definitely brings out his most extreme qualities. For example, in real life, he doesn't get pissed off at every little thing - just video games. And people who've met him at cons and meetups say he's suepr down-to-Earth and some of them wonder if he's depressed, but he's admitted he's actually really introverted and needs time to "recharge his batteries" after really taxing social situations... as opposed to Dan who apparently regains energy by being in social situations. I think they discuss it on one of the episodes after Arin and Dan got back from a trip to Japan? Uncertain, it's been like a year.

They gotta get outta their comfort zone a little bit and look away from KZread as their main income. The exhaustion they consistently go through to keep the show interesting and get the views is not healthy by any means. Arin has had a breakdown at least once almost every year since Grumps started. That kind of mental stress isn't good for any kind of job. He seems uninterested in this to me, but it could just be the tiredness.

I'm glad he's aware of the at least eventually unsustainable nature of pumping that much work (and lots of thought when not working) into a channel, and his idea to just pace themselves according to what they feel they can handle sounds good to me. Even aside from just working too frequently, it seems they really do care about having to cut playthroughs short when the views dip too much etc. etc. etc., I can see how it's incredibly tricky to find balance in such a mess of having to keep up without fundamentally changing what you want your content to be like, defeating the point of what makes it such awesome work to do and provide people with to begin with.

You'd think I would've learned my lesson from that about 2 years later right? Wrong, I was with a friend and we were just sitting on the swings with nothing to talk about and we look over to see two baby swings and again, "oh yeah I can totally fit in that even though I got stuck for 10 minutes 2 years ago and grew in size and weight and definitely won't get stuck" yeah I didn't even get all the way in this time and couldn't pull myself out and my friend had to get his family to come help get me out, they tried pulling me up and the swing down, taking apart the swing, cutting my pants to give just a little bit more room, nothing was working, until they got some kind of gel to get me to slip out. That's how it happened twice. If you were actually interested and read all of this, thanks, I know it's long

Its interesting to me Arin's perspective on 'typical youtubers, talking about themselves" and how if they did things besides work, they'd have actual stories and such... I think no matter who you interview or what you intend to talk about, everyone winds up talking about themselves. Whether you're telling a story about something that happened to you, or that you heard, or some opinion you have on something, it boils down to talking about yourself. It's not something exclusive to youtubers, or anybody with some amount of fame. It's just a human thing. This was super thought provoking, and I absolutely loved it.

Honestly, this type of content is important. Right now, I'm an impressionable teenager. So I love watching things like this and just... absorbing what you guys have to say. I'm glad you mix your content with both "crazy fun energy gaming" and "serious talks full of advice."
