OMG, the ending brings me to tears... again.. I'm a US citizen, was working & living in Singapore for few months in 2015, during that period Mr. LKY passed away. I remember as well that the day, it was raining heavily as if the Gods were crying for the great loss & the people were lining up the streets. I didn't know about the event after just arrived in Singapore the day before. So I was in the hotel, watching the farewell ceremony on TV, I cried back then & so touched by the respect & love shown by the nation. Nothing like this ever occurred in the US, UK, or EU... The following years, I read through all of his memoirs & watched his videos on YT. His wisdom cleared a lot of ways of thinking & seeing the world for me, which led my life to a better outcome as Singapore did for the past decades. Highly recommend everyone to read the books, his practical wisdom will guide you through the challenges in life to become better.

As a kid growing up in the late 70s, I remember my dad paying the most attention whenever LKY appeared on TV. There is something unique and powerful about the way he delivered his messages to the people. No pretence, just pure conviction and a very clear vision of our future. He wasn't interested in rewards or fame. What he had done for Singapore will always be a lesson to our next generation. He is a leader who makes me feel proud to be a part of Singapore

Some may not like his authoritive style but at the end of the day, he and his cabinet worked hard and brilliantly to make Sinagapore a land of swamp to a first world in 30-40 years. His whole life was dedicated to Singapore. His hard headed pragmatism and realistic analysis of the world makes him a sought after speaker. Sadly, there could only be one Lee Kuan Yew a man created from hard times.

It's as if 23rd Mar 2015 was just another ordinary day. But not for me. This man dedicated his life to his multi ethnic and probably earlier divided nation and was able to bind disparate cultures in a dangerous post colonial wolrld. He did not do this alone and his party and the Singaporean people deserve as much credit for the nation they built. It certainly would have been much more difficult to replicate his success on larger less developed asian countries but studying this man his words and his actions should be required for todays current and would be leaders. It would be sad if people like him only surface once in a lifetime.

I recalled the cold and rainy day of Mr Lee's funeral...I was in a hotel in Manila, watching CNA on the TV in my room and following the funeral events in Singapore. It was a moving experience for me even though I am not a Singaporean, to see thousands lining the streets where the hearse passed, bringing Mr Lee around Singapore on his final journey and to hear the people calling out his name. While I do not agree with some of his policies and actions, I believe he truly believed that what did were for the best and betterment of Singapore and her people... truly a great leader.

Although his authoritarian ways may not bode well with modern standards of democracy, LYK did what was necessary back then and what he thought was best for the country. He loved the country dearly and Singapore would not be here today without him ❤. But today’s PAP politicians are a far cry in terms of standards and dedication to the country 😢
