I Recreated A Luxury Techwear Jacket On a Budget | DIY Gradient Dye
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Using a £9.99 eBay jacket by Merrell I attempt to recreate the iconic look of the gradient-dyed Acronym x Nemen J28-K jackets, which today cost between $2000 and $3000, using easily-available materials. Hope you like the result!
Thanks to Rit for sending over the Dye More for Synthetics I used in this video! Check out the range: bit.ly/3onynCN

ant can actually make and edit these videos in a few hours, he takes weeks to upload because thats how long it takes him to come up with a new thing that starts with "A" to say at the start of his videos
There's a lot of Tutorials out there on Ombre dyeing, one tip I can give is to do what you mentioned--dip only the darkest part, and then put more of the item in the dye as time goes along, that way the dye will both be weaker/dye less and then you'll have less time spent in the dye. you can also accordion fold the jacket rather than crumpling it in for a more even dye effect, etc. I love tie-dying items and dyeing items for a more desaturated look(I have a lot of clothes I've done this too) and there's also other dyes besides RIT that can be more vibrant.
Ok next level is designing and stitching together your own pair of cargo pants
Props that you didn’t just copy it, you took the concept and let it inspire your own thing. Super sick!
3:11 "Welcome to the dyeing zone" this was funnier than it probably should have been lol but awesome video as always. This got me tempted to dye a pair of AF1 SF high's that I have.
id totally love to see this done again but with something way more accessible like a popular cheap brand, super interesting!
I've never used RIT color remover but I think you could make some cool looks by subtracting color rather than adding
the future of fashion is diy
This idea could be really cool for a piece of winter camo military surplus, I might give this a spin with german winter next time I buy clothes.
I really like your DIY/dyeing videos, really looking forward to seeing your try on more of them! I'd love to see you revisit the customization of sneakers, maybe on some Salomons?
Always super excited to watch you dye, Ant! Looking forward to seeing what you try next.
Absolutely love the more experimental content, keep it up!
Yes famm, love these DIY vids! Sick job as always. Defo looks easy enough to try tbh, will be on the hunt for some white jackets haha
Been looking forward to this video since the first teases of it. Amazing work as always!
Can we have any dying random things become a series? I really enjoy them
Finally , ive been waiting for this since forever!
A different color, or even more green would be sweet. Have you considered ice-dying methods? another fairly simple way to add color to a piece. Cropping a jacket is pretty daunting, primarily because it's difficult to reverse. Perhaps as a "final boss" type of modification? Adding a jacket sling, or other functional "upgrades" seem like great options: -Could we modify the hood to be a bit better? Structure, shade? -Could we add an internal pocket, for a phone/wallet?

ant could make a short series about the journey of customizing this jacket
big fan of this series!
I really enjoy watching these DIY videos
At some point you've just got to bust out a sewing machine, right!? It's the natural progression! Clothing mod possibilities are endless once you can do a hem and attach a zipper :)
The hood effect looks amazing. Great vid!
Love these types of videos! Please keep it up
More please! Loved these DIY vids
i mean if you've never dyed anything before and you're trying to make a super epic gradient, you can't expect it to go perfectly on the first try - those are tricky. still ended up with a nice color jacket for cheap so i'd say it was a success
These are some of my favorite videos. Super cool stuff, I have a white windbreaker I'd like to try.
Early bird gets the worm!!!!!
this channel still so underrated. keep up the grind antwon!
Really enjoy these types of videos my dude. Would be really cool to watch a series where you go in on some cheap eBay dives.
I love this approach! It looks way cooler than any of the dropship techwear of the same price bracket
Did it and the result actually amazing
What a great idea for a video
Love this DIY stuff x
PLEASE, I BEG YOU keep trying to do this more, im amazed how you decided to test this sort of thing, like, creating new things from tech wear.
Thank you for the DIY vid! Loved how it turned out. I love cropped jackets so go right ahead and blow our minds. Save the pockets and stitch them on elsewhere maybe? Wax to make it watertight and hang accessories off it. This must NOT be the last DIY vid! The hood was sick.
Honestly, it came out amazing! I would love to see you redye the bottom of it, and maybe crop it like you suggested, could look even better with a little bit more work 👍🏽 Also love the runescape old school shirt 🥺
Cropping is a must, please try this!
You might also want to consider the opposite approach: bleaching a darker garment. An art channel called Jazza tried painting with bleach on t-shirts a little while back, with some interesting results.
If you wet the jacket before putting it in the dye it would help the gradient spread more evenly and it will bleed throughout the fabric
thnx4vid ya am digging the DIY
cool video. I might try later this summer
Fan-fucking-tastic video! I love this kind of creativity!
The jacket came out great, but I 100% agree it would look even better cropped
If you do crop it you could also make the bottom layer removable via buttons or a zip.
Hello!! I'm a gas mechanic and the company I work for, well, they kind of suck when it comes to providing gear. Im looking for FR rated gear. Preferably things like functional cover alls. I wouldbt mind investing in a couple peices I can wear on and off the job. It's kind of away from the typical hiker inclement weather rain resistant stuff, maybe even totally opposite as I need some fire resistant... But I think it's something cool and interesting to look into as you are probably someone who would hear about brands or projects that would be inovating with this kind of stuff.
Dope 👏🏽🫡
The video I’ve been waiting years for 😂🙌 because God knows I can never afford that hacke
You should buy a aluminum baking tray and those outdoor cooker can things for the next project leaving the entire jacket submerged and keeping the section you want out and a more even dyeing process
It would be cool to make this but with a blocktech parka from Uniqlo.
THE OSRS TSHIRT
very poggy video mr won :)
Antwon. That's a nice bucket.
MORE DIY PLEASE
DA RUNESCAPE SHIRT
Please do a review of Mil-Tec From Poland. They make my favorite pants
I think ill try to dye my gortex jacket in both green shades so it looks like the Nemen Acronym one
Can you do a video about dyeing Yeezy 450?
I dyed my own jacket a while back taking it from olive drab to a dark green gray. I was wondering if anyone's doing complete diy tech ware? Getting patterns and fabric and making their own stuff?
Go ahead, crop it, add a jacket sling, even do more diy content! I challenge you Antwon!
I bet they have a top secret contraption with a smart timed motor which move the garment up at an exponential time to make a perfect gradient????????? Maybeeeeee
To get the gradient effect a little better do the opposite of what you did. put the bottom of the jacket in first then as time goes on lower the jacket more and more.
what pants are you wearing in the fir portion?
You might want to look into Synthrapol in order to remove factory sizing from clothes before dying. Factory sizing on any type of clothing (synthetic or not) will block any external dyes to an extent. Moreover, if you are dying synthetics, you might want to find an acid based dye so it’ll take better.

Good point! Rit Dye More is designed for synthetics but maybe stronger stuff is out there

@@ThisIsAntwon Checkout Pro-Chemical, that stuff is industry grade, but will require extra steps. We use it at my school’s dye lab and you can get some DEEP color with it.
i actually like this merrell jacket, whats it called?
Great result dude! In terms of the sling, I know a guy who makes slings like the acronym quick release ones. Gimme a shout if you’d be interested in that

Where do you normal ly buy your techwear clothes
Runescape t-shirt so oldschool)
not a bad jacket to begin with for £10, crazy what you clothing you can buy for cheap considering £10 buys fuck all now

It's time to dye
Brands tier list when?
next video will be Can I Make A GORETEX CLOTH myself?
If you are trying to give it a gradient finish you would need separate dye mixes
Does anyone know what shirt Antwon is wearing in the beginning of the video?

It's a Maharishi tee from a few years ago - I think it was called the bamboo tee, something like that
please crop the jacket and show the process ! i've always thought of doing that but was too afraid of ruining the piece *skullemoji* thanks ANTOINE
i wanna dye
3:08 ahh yes , my favourite activity , wanting to *die*
should have left more white areas on the top imo
3:09 uhhhmm what?
Kids plastic pools would be better than the bucket maybe?

Potentially yes ! The annoying trade-off is the wider the surface area the faster the dye will cool down. Not sure how much that'd affect the final look
Woke community=you can identify as anything Anton=hey this is ambient light here
Tech wear goes Punk* *Punk fashion started as almost an entirely DIY process using old cloths
