I absolutely love lists and rankings, so this is inherently fun for me 😁 Especially when a ranking gets analyzed. I've heard of a few of these books actually! Now after seeing your video, I might have a better idea of which ones will be interesting to me.

:)))) You have it wrong though, it's the incredibly disturbing books that make me so happy in the real life.

I read some negative reviews of Yellowface by PoC and they’re valid, because rather than complaining about the subjects Kuang is putting on the table, they are criticizing on how she executed them in the book, saying that you’re a bit racist because you ended up disappointed or expected more on a book that deals about racism it’s quite a stretch. Kuang isn’t immune of criticism and that’s something that most people of the book community don’t want to hear it.

That’s a fair point! I 100% don’t think anyone who was dissapointed by Yellowface is racist, though I doubt anyone who is racist would enjoy it. There could be many valid criticisms of that book (i.e I personally thought the ending could have been stronger) and I agree with you that Kuang is not beyond criticism, I think putting any author on that kind of pedestal can be concerning.
