I love and hate that at the same time that this makes sense in and outside of the Pokémon world.

Team Skull was such a breath of fresh air from villainous teams trying to take over or destroy the world, and I’ll never forgive Team Yell for basically doing everything Team Skull does but worst, and retroactively making Team Skull worse.

In Team Yell’s defense, some of the underlying concept is good. Admittedly, it’s the same part that made Skull good. They’re the outcasts. They have a place, but they’re all shunted off there. And in a way, they’re trying to raise their status up through Marnie winning at the thing the rest of the Galar region values. That’s honestly something they have over Team Skull, which, outside of their leaders, are just kind of hopeless (in a sometimes lovable but sad way). Think what keeps it back is ultimately the same for Team Flare. Pokemon typically has a kid audience in mind. When you dumb down the concept of “destroy imperfection so that only beauty remains”* to “destroy things we don’t like,” it loses a lot of its draw. For Team Yell, instead portraying them as silly sports hooligans kind of detracts from the other parts of them. Though their home town is one of the cooler sections of the game. (At least thematically. Kind of lame how linear it is.) *Not that it’s that complex to begin with, but it’s a bit more abstract than us vs them

That is completely unfair to Team Yell, they did nothing of what you claim Team Skull's thing was that they wanted to cause trouble but are incompetent while Team Yell's thing was that they had good intentions but were obnoxious when trying to help The only thing they had in common was being goofy and not a real threat to anyone, a trait they also share with Team Star. None of these teams make the other look better or worse, they're just a trend game freak has for the modern games

@@thegloriouskingkronk8422 my guess is he somehow managed to kill giratinas with dialga and palkia, resulting in his universe colapsing and forcing a reset big bang. the mortal idiot who couldnt overlook past hiw own human comprehension however, forgot he doomed himself to watch the universe start all over again from the begining so its a few 10 to the power of a hundred years or Arceus knows how long because we might not know the true age of the universe, until the first sign of entropy to really start the incomprehensibly slow chain reaction to to a new universe to start giving shape, so i imagine that at one point Arceus himself as the only other being left, just came to stare him down in the eyes in the middle of the void and ask him what he was expecting and how beyond foolish he was, and that situation was also his punishment. to dwell in the eternal primordial void without even being allowed to die, because he destroyed all of creation.

In Cyrus' defense, he probably had a journal from Volo telling him that if he used the red chain... he'd PROBABLY be alright. Especially since Volo was there for the entire incident atop Mt. Coronet.

I like to imagine they have Alakazams on standby in pocket mon world prisons, so they can hit you with a confusion so bad that you walk back to your cell

Team Galatic loves pressing the restart button and making an new sinnoh all because Cyrus is depressed and done with humanity.

The entire Rainbow Rocket section is 10/10. The accuracy is incredible, and Lysandre is a jobber.

It really grinds my gears that Flare was mishandled as bad as it was. They're my favorite villainous team, because I think they had absolutely insane potential looking at some of the side information we're given about them: they listen in on Holocaster conversations, one of their higher ups is an E4 member and newscaster, implying some degree of media control - they basically keep all of Kalos in the dark up to its strongest trainers -, and this is showcased more in the manga and Masters, but they also have plainclothes agents. Plus, given the organization's wealth, it's likely it's composed of the elites of society. In other words, they pretty much already own Kalos, and have a stranglehold on it, given their secret police traits. They could have been absolutely terrifying if they were handled well, but they really weren't.

For real, in a Region ALL about cosmetics and superficial beauty having a “Fashion Illuminati” should have been a slam-dunk. I’m also bugged that they didn’t have Pokemon that better fit this role- giving most Grunts a Furfrou with a different trim would have made ‘em FAR more memorable, for example. Funny enough, they used to be MiB-style alien spies, and that was kinda reused for the Ultra Recon Squad- who DO use a Furfrou!

Team Plasma is one of my favorites because they actually get you thinking and Ghetsis is just pure evil. Also love Team Star because of the sheer personality of them. For as simple as they are, being the blue print and all, Team Rocket is great. Only fundamental change I’d make gameplay wise to take them to the next level is to give every grunt a unique Pokémon on their team in addition to the standard Rattata and Zubat. Gives off the impression of a recent mark, like they just stole this Pokémon and are testing it out to see if it’s worth taking to Giovanni to put on the market.

I do like the pseudo-variety they have in Gen 1. Most Rockets specialize in Poison, but there's always the occasional grunt who uses things like Drowzee, Machop, Raticate, Geodude, etc. My headcanon has always been that the grunts specializing in types besides Poison are using Pokemon that they stole, rather than caught themselves. Edit: I actually did a full playthrough of Blue Version recently, and now that I think about it, I think that a significant amount of the non-Poison Rockets are in Silph Company, which would make sense as they've hijacked the entire building, around 5F or 6F there's even a spot where lots of Silph workers are being held hostage in a meeting room -- the high amount of outsider Pokemon there could belong to them.

I think my favourite thing about Team Plasma is how real their methods were and the change in uniforms between games. In the first game, people are actually convinced that Team Plasma is a well-meaning organization who resorts to shady methods for a greater good, to the point where even a large portion of their own Grunts believe the narrative. Their uniform reflects this with the white (symbolizing purity) and the uncovered faces (no need to hide your identity if your cause is righteous) and the flowing robes, every aspect designed to invoke righteousness. But when Ghetsis gets outted as the villain he is, the team fractures, with the idealists renouncing their allegiance and the ones who were in it for the crimes remain. Their outfit changes to a black, more form-fitting and sleek design in order to be harder to see and for better mobility, complete with face mask to hide their identities. At this point, there's no question that they are the baddies and the uniform changes to reflect this. This is a very real thing corrupt organizations do, especially in today's day and age, putting up a front of virtue in order to hide their true objectives.

I love team Star the most. Penny's story with her trying to save her online friends from expulsion by using the code against them from the shadows was so sweet and compelling. To date the only time a Pokemon game has made me cry. Here's hoping all 19 tera crowns are next mayhaps?

It still to this day makes me laugh that Ghetsis thought he could take over the world by having people release all their pokemon thinking it was some ethical issue when most if not all pokemon are friends with their trainers and would still be helpful to them if they were released. Like yeah Cynthia had her Garchomp canonically since it was a gible and she was a child and they grew up together but the SECOND she releases it he's gonna take off and NEVER speak to her again. see, my problem with bw1 team plasma is that, in the context of the pokemon world specifically, i dont see how their goals and cause could ever be seen as sympathetic or convincing to anyone. throughout the previous four generations it was VERY clearly established that a) pokemon and people work harmoniously to thrive, and b) most pokemon like being with their trainer, as shown in the friendship mechanic. as such, the only people we see being abusive to pokemon are the evil teams that we thwart throughout the main story, and in bw1 the people we see being evil to pokemon are…. team plasma!!! while team aqua and team magma’s plans are definitely dumb as hell, i could at least realistically see someone in the pokemon world being convinced to join their cause, if for example they held biases for certain classes of pokemon
