I Ran Around The Great Plateau In Zelda BOTW
Ойындар
To celebrate this channel hitting 10 thousand subscribers, I'm literally running around the Great Plateau in Zelda Breath of the Wild. For every step Link takes in Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, I take a step in real life and I'm trying to find out the real life distance it would take to run.
I'm running on the spot owing to space/money restraints, but it elicits a similar cardio response so thats as good as we can do right now!

Fascinating idea. I can't say I've heard of anyone doing anything quite like this. I wonder what other games might be a good fit for this?

I've got a lot of plans, and I'll be recording more soon! 😍
That looks like fun, and gives me an idea of a request for Nintendo. What if all 3D games use the leg strap for movement. Like if you want your character to walk, run, jump, walk low, etc. you have to do it yourself. The d-pad is used to point you in the direction and your legs allow you to move.

Glad you like the idea of the video, more coming! I think that would significant increase dev time, there are a lot of movement nuances that cause issues (hence why Switch Sports took years to finish)
I have to try doing this once in my life lol this seems so fun. I hope future VR technology makes games like this with (hopefully optional) "fit" controls.

Yeah, give it a go! It's a heap of fun! I'd love for VR to get into stuff like this 😍
I play it while cycling on a stationary bike, so I guess I've Tour de Hyrule'd. 😄

Go for it! I'll try it out in Tears soon as well I reckon
Hi I'm a fan of your channel. Just recently got a switch oled and I'm fascinated by it. I was wondering how do I replicate what you did here? Do i need leg straps for the joycon? So do i need like 4 joycons (2 for legs and 2 held by the hands for combat?) I'd love to play this game that way. When i looked it up online, most websites are to do with "how to disable motion control for zelda" instead! I'm aware I probably sound dumb here cos I'm clueless as I'm still figuring out this amazing console :) Would be great if you could do a video on how to set up the joycons to be able to play like this on tears of the kingdom! Thanks and keep uploading them videos. bless!

Hey! Thanks for watching! So the running is completely independent of the game. I'm running around the Great PLateau using normal joycon control, and then I'm running on the spot/jogging on the spot depending on Link's running speed. Im not controlling Link's speed with my running. Its essentially a fun, different way to make running on the spot more fun :)
THAT was entertaining to watch thanks!

For paragliding you could just do arm raises

Yeah I didnt really think about that on the fly haha
So much fun! Alas. My thumbs have decided it's pro-controllers for me. Not sure how I could replicate this.

Thats fair; something I forgot to mention in the video is that the joycons slipped out of my hands a few times, so I get this! You can still get a similar run in with a 3k odd run :)
Imagine this man when he learns about Treadmills

😆 I'd love to use a treadmill. But they'd cost money I don't have and use space I don't have too. Besides, the altering of speed on the fly in BotW makes treadmills less effective for this specific style of challenge
"promo sm" 😭
