Man, keep it up. It is truly an inspiration. I was recently released from federal prison. While in there, I learned how to do portraits using the median graphite and loved it. I've been too nervous to try painting, but by watching your videos, I'm going to give it a try. Thank you

thanks very much ! I started out with graphite too, definitely give the paints a try! I am really loving working with oil paints at the minute. Also if you are looking for another dry medium to try out you should give charcoal a try too!

As good of an artist as you are, I’m sure you’ll be able to make a good living at it. I’m glad that you didn’t have to wait till you retired, like me, to paint. You can paint what you want and not what you think you should. So freeing!

Awesome work man. I've been watchin you acrylics videos for a while now. You make it look easy. I find myself in the same situation. I've always wanted to leave my job because I felt the same way you did. I love what I did. I was working in a design firm where I was part of a 3D team. In the end it worked out because I got laid off ..lol. I was there 5 yrs, no warning just out. 3 other people and myself got let go off that day. From that single event I learned never to give more to a company than they are willing to give you. That was a year ago. You on the other hand, had the guts to quit at the risk of losing income. That was one of the things that was tying me down. I think getting laid off was a godsend. Any how, I've been drawing and painting (digitally) more. I still draw with paper and pencil though, but will start with paint and brush again. Good luck in your new journey.

You are such a creative artist, you will do great in any direction you choose! Like you, I am an acrylic painter that started dabbling in oils…now I’m primarily oil. Along with painting, I’ve gotten into drawing again, hoping to improve my skills (I have a long way to go here 🤦‍♀️). My question is, how do you go about deciding what medium you’re going to work with next? Are there certain subjects that you feel are more suited to one or another, or do you have a schedule like Monday Acrylic, Tuesday Oil, Wednesday Graphite, etc? This has been my dilemma, and I think I’ve developed AAD (art attention disorder).

You know, if you can paint with acrylics, you can paint with any medium. In my opinion acrylic is the hardest medium because of its short drying time, some think it's water colour but is reasonably easy after using acrylics. And because you do love teaching, you don't have to throw teaching away altogether, instead of working to the set routine of school teaching, you could run workshops and share your passion with people, and how you use your mediums, and then it's under your control when you run them and it means you can still replenish art products and pay the bills and of course eat. Great art work, and thank you for sharing your video it's a very exciting step.

@@mano4053 yes that's right, it seems hyper realism might be his niche, I for one can't paint like that, I lean more to the impressionist style if I have one that is, there's probably others near him that would like to paint the way he does, it's a phenomenal painting! Cheers from Tasmania!
