    It must be bad for you engineers, I'm a software developer and at least we don't lose materials, only time and electricity and cheap cloud credits when clients change their minds. They also get bugs for free because of the changes, but that's on them.

    @@monad_tcp At my company, there were several times when I talked to our mechanical engineer and even our EEs when change requests come in and can understand the grumbling that may arise. Being the software engineer, it is easy for me to make changes, as it is often just a matter of programming, but for our poor mechanical engineer, not so much. No wonder we 3D print so much stuff in-house before sending anything to production. At least for the EEs, it is a little easier as they can at least solder jumpers or "bread-board" things to test.

    I don't think the first game had a physics engine. I think it actually only allowed predefined shapes. Meaning that if the dev made a bridge they thought should be an under truss, you would fail no matter what with an over truss.

  • @JustaGuy_Gaming
    @JustaGuy_GamingКүн бұрын

    At a guess I would say most people just didn't like how simple the games were. Each map seemed to roughly have one solution, if the bridge held it's own weight you passed. The "Stress" meters for traffic seemed to barely be a factor. For most part all you had to do was use most the pieces and be under budget and you pass. Maybe the harder maps got more complicated but I would imagine a lot of people don't want to wait hours of playing through the easier modes to get to something fun and challenging. Never mind there is no free build or random mode I think. Meaning once you go through all the challenges that is it, as again there is basically one solution to each map. No replay value for cheaper builds or the like.

    All the bridge constructor games give the wrong impression, that vehicles add significant load to a large/steel bridge. This is barely even true for wooden hanging bridges. The mass of vehicles and people is insignificant compared to the mass of the bridge. Of course, poorly maintained bridges happened to collapse during large circus parades, where a bridge was fully loaded with people and heavy traffic, ideally hanging bridges being overloaded only on one road side, tilting the bridge enough, so that half of all cables carry nothing. In the end, only bridge builder sims that have an earthquake button are somewhat realistic, for simulating fatigue.

    Day seventy three of asking Matt to add the Second Narrows Bridge, Ironworkers Memorial to the Wheel of Bridgetune It is a cantilevered truss bridge, carrying 6 lanes of traffic from Vancouver to North Vancouver in B.C. across the second narrowing of the Burrard Inlet. It's name comes from the fact that it collapsed twice during construction, which unalived 23 people in total (Hence the name, ironworkers memorial).

    Now that RCE did Bridges 2, he should go back and attempt to play Bridges, and see if anything from the second game will help him on the first.

    Hmm it looks like you could use the crossbeams as road tbh, and they only cost half the amount ;)

    Hey RCE, on the topic of bridge building games, you think you could give 'Bridge Constructor: The Walking Dead' a go?

    The first game was pretty good imo for the time it was released, i think it was around 2010? Also on the 4th level of it you should have used the pillar, hidden behind the left/right buttons in the building menu
