The biggest fail of this game were super small maps. It was impossible to plan your city. Separate your industrial zone from the residential one. Everything was squeezed together. Many times i had no space to add more buildings. That was the main problem of this game.

the other day i built a new city, full processors specialization, made like 40mil in a couple days and i used the money to fund a new town that was like half industry and OmegaCo, just to turn the first city over to Omega, then i unlocked the drones factories and ploppped a couple in the first city that used some of its processors to make drones and i ended up making so much money that i genuinly had a positive hourly cashflow (despite sinking tens of thousands into the processor factories). Somehow, among all this, i still had room to fit 3 megatowers and 350.000 people in the first city and 150.000 in the second.

IMO gamedevs should be VERY CAREFUL when making a project with "futuristic characteristics", like futuristic cities, cars flying (not available in SC Cities of Tomorrow thank god). Usually this kind of project is more difficult to please the audience and sell lots of units. If they replaced Cities of Tomorrow for "Bigger Cities, Bigger Maps, Bigger Regions" lol, I think that the game would continued.

Although I think skylines is the better of the two I think SimCity definitely has better aesthetics, skylines tries to flatten every lot and I always end up with jagged terrain, plus the little details like graffiti appearing on buildings with a high crime level is something sorely missing from skylines, no matter how bad my cities get in skylines they always look perfect apart from the constant complaint notifications.

The best part of this expansion is the music. It's just fantastic. And because of how SimCity worked, I found it more satisfying to play than Cities Skylines. Despite the small areas to build in, the synergy you could create between various cities each doing its own thing was amazing. SimCity focused more on city building and planning and not on micromanaging traffic, which was what stopped me from really getting in to C:S, despite it being objectively 'better' in most aspects.

I'm tempted to play SC2013 before CS2 comes out in October. There were a lot of "issues" with the game but there were a lot of great things. One of the many great things was delivering water and electricity automatically via the roads. The other was road layout. Yet another was how bus lines worked (just put down your stops and done). And schools had their own separate bus lines as well. Expansion of buildings was yet another. A lot of these features are going to be in CS2 - but they will also be different in a lot of ways as well. I can't wait for CS2. One of the big issues with SC2013 was the map size. Not to mention the inability to terraform. It made things a lot more complicated. Though one of the "great" things was the ability to share a region with other players and this is far superior to what Steam provides. SimCity may have started it all, but CS is what has continued the tradition. CS2 is going to take it to the next level. I just know it.

@@victiusplaysI've played SC2013 for 2 days straight. First, CS is a far superior game. There is no question in my mind about that. There controls are better, the layout is better. Finding stuff is easier - sans mods - plus a whole host of other stuff. However, I find myself creating BETTER cities now in SC2013 than I did pre-CS. What I've learned over the last 8 years or so with CS has taught me to play better in SC2013. I still can't wait for CS2 though.

I actually liked Sim City when it came out. I tried C:S back then and it felt like glorified tech demo. An alpha version of the game, obviously made with love , but by a bunch of nerds with zero sense what UI is or what it should look like. I absolutely loved SC:CoT. Bit of Star Trek here, bit of Cyberpunk there, and what's that, is that a Fallout thing going on there? What's not to like? And then i tried a later build of C:S with a bunch of DLCs and a whole lot of mods, and boy am I never going back to EA... Sim City is not shallow, certainly not by the industry's standards, but compared to C:S it's like Uno compared to Magic the gathering. They're both in the same cathegory alright, but one of them is an altogether different beast....

Meaning you can use oil and ore for omega instead. If you want to do omega too and not just a nice clean academy city for even more obscene ammounts of money, then you need to do it on a plot with both huge ammounts of ore and oil and you need to build around the ore mine and the oil drilling wells. Place the omega factories close or in between them. And then you can use the low level appartment level megatowers to supply the workers for that if you want. not really needed. in most cases the towers will create more problems than they solve.
