Satisfactory gameplay today playing the most difficult mod ever made for the game: Satisfactory PLUS! You'll understand why it's the hardest mod, but I thought I'd see how far I could get in 24 hours. Needless to say, I was not ready for what was in store.

    Just started this mod. Very early in Tier 2, maybe 3 hours in. It's not the screws. It's the 5 different ores/base materials I need to manage and the fact that processing requires so many steps. It seems a lot more realistic, but I'm tempted to abandon it already. I feel like the only reason I'm not is that I'll be REALLY good at logistics for playing 1.0 on Vanilla.

    It makes sense to do in Factorio, because like. Construction bots. And Factorio simply has more convenience when building things. Ripping down and rebuilding your ore processing is totally fine, after you've got bots! In Satisfactory? Hell no. Satisfactory's building is so tedious that it becomes grindy. Redoing it? Torture.

    Fun fact. The ratio of the biomass and the leaves is just right if you split it of 3 ways with a normal spliter 2 will always be leaves and the other 1 will always be the biomass they will never mix. Reason is it outputs 2 leaves and 1 biomass on every output hope that helps if you dont want to rush for smart spliters.

    As an engineer: The screws are actually very accurate. In the real world there are companies like McMaster-Carr and Fastenal that deal HEAVILY in all of the various kinds of fasteners you need to build literally anything. Look around whatever room you're in right now and count all the screws, nails, bolts, etc, in the furniture, in the building frame, etc. Even your clothes. The seams of your clothes are fastened by thread, plus the usual buttons and zippers. Fastening things is such a big deal that this mod could have easily had 20 different types of fastener to worry about.

    Thing is though, that's dealing with _our_ level of technology. The way I envision Satisfactory is that the building gun you have functions literally as shown. You designate an area, and it simply fabricates it from the materials you have stored. The reason you don't need screws for many things are due to how the building gun simply fabricates the machine with components fused together completely. It's fine to fabricate things fully fused, since there's not really a need to un-screw things when you can just push a button and the whole machine is broken into its constituent parts. It's not a perfect explanation but I figure it's at least something.

    This mod so awesome. But you really need the blueprints. It's a nightmare to deal with all the building and rebuilding without them. And one neat spoiler, to keep your sanity you want to build on different floors and keep things seperated. So you have a lot of space, a lot and a lot of space.

    Yeah... I just hit Brass in SF+ and it was like a brick wall. I originally thought, "Oh, Brass is Copper and Zinc, and you get both from Saphirite, this should be easy." No. You have to use the Furnace to melt the copper and zinc (and deal with the Molten Slag byproduct), and then put that into another Furnace to get Brass... along with a bit of Crushed Iron just because. Then you have to put the Molten Brass into a Cooler to get Brass Ingots.

    I actually like this mod. It's consistent. I've abandoned my satisfactory save because it was getting very tedious, especially when I got around to building trains, quartz, oil and such. I hate running belts across the globe, yet it feels like you get penalized for using trains... Power consumption, resource requirements - they all suck. And if you want to lay track nicely - too bad, the blueprints are tiny and building the railway by hand SUCKS.

    I did my entire save file track building by hand all the way around the world with double tracks. One track going one way and the other going the opposite way. It took me forever to get the track all the way around the world. But, I learned a lot of how to do things I didn't know how to do when I first started messing with trains. I still don't know everything involving using trains, but I know more than I did.

It really made trains viable for me. It did take a long time but this is the sort of game where you can play for hundreds of hours without ever reaching the end. I find as I have gained more and more hours of experience, I like to focus more attention on the aesthetics of my builds more, rather than just trying to make everything just functional before moving on.

    There's premade rail blueprints on Satisfactory Calculator. Some of them have modpacks to auto-install them, too. CRS in particular is rather nice-looking. CTP lets you use both vehicles and trains in the same blueprint set, though it doesn't have a mod to install all of it.

    Fun tip, you don't need the smart splitter. The output of leaves and biomass is a perfect deterministic output and splitters also split in a deterministic manner. Just chain two splitters to break off the biomass then merge the leaves back together into one belt. So long as you don't jam your output it works forever.

  • @Warp9pnt9

    @Warp9pnt9

    27 күн бұрын

    The problem is that if for any reason the fluid conditioner backs up. it tries to empty one buffer before the other, which will block the entire production line. Further, even with a smart splitter, this will most likely also back up the constructors and assemblers making the bio coal (Kibz didn't unlock or look at), which burns much slower in coal burner, yielding much more power from biowater nodes. So you need a proper balancer logistic, possibly even just storage container buffers, to handle the output from fluid conditioner in a robust manner than can't back up. smart splitter becomes vital, essential.

  • @xoso599

    @xoso599

    27 күн бұрын

    @@Warp9pnt9 The output and consumption are all deterministic. I believe the ratio is 1 bio water inputs perfectly powers 8 boiler units, using 2 conditioners. You will need some extra makeup water but once you do the math so long as you don't blow your electrical grid it runs forever. The only need for a buffer is on start up to get everything saturated and consuming the water. If you front load your system with a bunch of fuel you can start it without a buffer. (By making your own buffer in the unit feeding it fuel).

    I come from modded minecraft (i played nomifactory & gregtech new horizons) where this is basically normal. Besides you not only crush ores & purify them via 4 different ways, but you may purify the mineral for its elemental compounds requiring individual processes per byproduct of purifying an ore. Examples are bauxite, ilmenite, the platinum group, tungsten related minerals. Its minecraft, but the complexity there goes through the roof, as you also require different wiring, plating, piping, rods, screws, gears, magnetised versions for iron/steel/neodymium/samarium. Still fun, and seems like the ideal modpack for satisfactory for me to play ❤
