Btw laptops usually have cooling issues, and thermal throttling is very easy to achieve, i recommend if you have one specially if its old check its fans because chances are theres more dust there than fans itself

The storage makes the loading the slower if its a hard drive its slower than an sdd which is in the latest gen of consoles

This video explains the problems perfectly with what I have to deal with on laptop. This fps drop and input delay problem is actually fairly recent (started in ch4) and I cant figure out why. In chapter 2 and 3 I could run my laptop at 200fps easily in game with very little input delay. Load times for me were quick and still are, Im pretty sure the problem for you is you didn't have a powerful enough cpu.

Laptops overheating is their main issue. I have the same laptop, but with some upgrade. Around $900 currently. Ryzen 7 6800. Rtx 3050. I can run fortnite with nothing happening about 240 frames. The moment I start playing in game. I can cap at around 160 on the built in screen. Haven't tested externally which would help with overheating. My old desktop with Intel i7 6700 and a GTX 980 caps at around 260 and runs consistently around the same frames. It's liquid cooled and runs on monitors. I love having the laptop for mobile play, but the overheating is an issue. Battery life as well. Plus having external and a SSD impact things greatly from what I can see. I load all games from my 1 terabyte hardrive on desktop, but run everything on the 250 gb SSD. The laptop is all on one memory. I think this impacts performance as well. I know SSD impacts boot time, but I'm not entirely sure about games. Also, despite the price differences. Graphics cards haven't progressed that much. My 10 year old 980 GTX doesn't vary much from a RTX 4080 apart from raycasting. Most other things are comparable with the 4080 outperforming, but not by much. I'll soon be buying a $10,000 PC and using the 980 as my streaming pc with the elgato 4k capture card it has and as my wife's primary gaming PC.

The part that makes it load slower is mainly the ssd and ram

If you take off the options on the fortnite game itself it helps stabilize fps like having save the world run and stuff like that

The laptop loading times are mostly related to a ssd or hardrive you should get a ssd for it

I bought a gaming laptop not too different from yours and I had the same problems. I was almost at 500 fps when i was in creative and was almost on demon time until I ran some rounds in pubs. I know since it was going to get competitive and decided to set my frames based on my ram, 120 fps. I had massive frame drops from 120 to 40 in the prelobby, 120 to 60 in buildfights and 30 if I even look at mega city. Lag spikes just put the icing on the cake and ethernet doesn't seem to make much of a difference. That is laptops doing laptop things lol. At this point I'm plannign on getting a desktop within reason for me but, for now you are right that this feels better than console for the time being but console wins in competitive matches. Better ping, steady performance and tougher aim assist lol. They have their own problems like input delay and it's far worse than on laptop. I know that much

your cpu is probably downclocking itself when it doesn't need too, you can download process lasso and go to power> start process lasso with power profile > download bitsum highest performance. it keeps your cpu at it's max clockspeed all the time, so to save energy you can select idlesaver in main > idlesaver and make it switch to the balanced power profile after a certain amount of time. also keep probalance enable and enable smart trim if you have less than 16gb of ram.

make sure to plug in a monitor and set it to only show on the monitor because it doesnt use the dedicated gpu unless you use a monitor

Also, consoles are way bigger so they can fit bigger hardware and bigger cooling setups which is an advantage, an actual PC would be a far more fair comparison to a console because of the size factor. For the loading times, that's probably the storage and storage alone, a slow ssd will be slower at loading up applications.

The RTX 2050 in this laptop was actually released in 2021 December so it ain't that old. It's basically a slightly underpowered 3050. But still a great budget gpu imo

For instance, a college student like myself benefits greatly from this since I don't have the luxury of having a PC setup and I *NEED* a laptop for school this is the best option cause I'm killing two birds with one stone. I get to have a portable device that I can use for school and I'm still able to do some gaming on the side, all in one device.

if you have a laptop with a higher refresh rate than your monitor should you just use your monitor because i have a gtx 1060 max Q design laptop with 95hz refresh rate and i have a 75 hz monitor should i plug it into the monitor or just use the laptop because my laptop screen is a lot bigger than most so its not as bad

The problem was definetly the GPU and you have to make sure you have a nvme SSD in the laptop...at least make it 512GB and gen4. You wanna make sure you upgrade the ram of the laptop as well since fortnite is RAM hungry. Upgrading to 16 GB will improve frames by at least 15 percent

4:45, Ok, ill make it make sense in baby terms, there r different storage types that run at different speeds, laptop probably has slow storage so it loads everything slower. A good comparison is hard drive and solid state drive.

I promise you that if you upgraded your ram it would be 100x better. I have the exact same stuff but on a desktop upgrading my ram made my fps go from 80-120 inconsistent to solid 144. Ram will have a huge impact trust me.

@@synfoxy I have a 1650 and a i5 11th gen. It was the greatest and most affordable update I could have done performance wise. Get the Corshair RGB. You can get 32 but 16 will do you well make sure to buy 2 sticks of 8 or 2 sticks of 16

@@Mamykk I do, i use it perfectly for everything but i dont play fortnite on it anymore, i don´t know how slite optimized it but for me it only went from 120-140 fps, but since like a month ago with an update i had to use a worse resolution in game for it to run at that same fps and i quit it. So for school or work and games like minecraft it works perfectly but yeah if you want to grind some fortnite in it, at least in my experience is not a good option. :) (sorry for writing alot)

The reason for framedrops is the laptop 2050. Even a desktop 3070 has trouble with this game sometimes, so why would a weaker, smaller gpu not have those same issues?

the loading time is because of the storage. PS4s had a hdd and ps5 has ssd and the loading time difference is crazy

Im getting one with the rtx4050,11gen i7,16gb ram and 512gb ssd. I can’t wait because my xbox one is so slow because I’ve had it since late 2014

Also to gain 120fps smooth consistent frames on a new gen all u need is the minimum of a 120hz monitor which is cheap

The loading time is because of the ssd. If you had a m.2 ssd it would be more snappy (just newer memory)

With the load times it can’t really be the cpu more likely the storage. The new consoles have super fast storage but this laptop might just have a sata ssd which are still decently quick but not as fast as m.2

Upgrade the RAM to 16 gigs and f 3200mhz. Then go into the bios and turn off optimius. Which is where it will make it so the It’s only using rtx gpu instead of using both inter grated graphics and the rtx 2060. Or if the laptop has a mux switch. The slow loading times are because of the storage. If you had a m.2 if would be like the new gen consoles. Lastly you could do simple tweaks in nivida and windows and get a cooling stand to reduce stutters. And maybe cap the fps at 165 for less drops and more stable fps.

Tdlr, if console manufacturers weren't so deadset on every game on their console being at the best possible graphics, the ps5 and xsx could definitely hit 300+ frames per second consistently on low settings. And they could also definitely add an option for a higher refresh rate than 120.

Load times are affected only by the ssd, so you can upgrade to a faster ssd to improve load times, and maybe the ram (8gb is too little ram for Fortnite and a lot of eSports games as well), and the graphics card is not actually that old, its just a rename of the RTX 3050 Mobile since it performs exactly the same for a lower price, tho if u try to connect an external monitor it's better to do it through the usb-c thunderbolt port for a direct connection to the gpu, rather than to use the Nvidia Optimus battery saving technology, which makes the fps unstable at purpose so the integrated graphics doesn't get overwhelmed by too many fps (or something else idk i can run Geometry dash a 1000fps no problem wth) aand yea, that is what i got to know about this model since i have this exact same laptop but with the 3050 (even tho both the 20 and 30 variant are the exact same chip but with different names smh)

W video, I have the same exact laptop, but way higher performance I get around 180 fps in pubs, and creative 200+ fps it’s probably cuz I used a ssd and a Fan under the laptop as it heats pretty fast, on top of that I play on stretch res it’s barely noticeable but it does a GREAT change, I’m a competitive player I won some cups but regarding the fact that I’m on “budgetable laptop” is a good thing I don’t even would put it in a budget-able laptop as it does way higher performance under good specs.

yep. but tbh make sure u dont get 1650 as its prertty low for a competitive player but if you are just playing for fun i advice it both ways!

I chose to get a gaming laptop with a 3050ti and a decent i5 (for thunderbolt support as I do digital art) and gaming on it isnt perfect but being that I am a uni student and have to move a bit between countries its nice to have a gaming/general entertainment device always with me it isnt perfect but its what I got

optimising the pc for performance would be a better option and since thats an nvidia card you can still lower the graphics
