The police investigate and find a long log of texts from the victim about how she believes her boyfriend is poisoning her, complete with at least circumstantial evidence (she states it happens every time Eve goes to his house, etc.).

It's fun to see that it's in texting format. As if Dan came to catch her spitting out the food, and then reached for his phone to confront her while standing in front of her.

Especially after it was mentioned the girl was texting someone, I figured that person would turn out to be Jim, and this entire thing was a setup to kidnap the man. I think that last story would’ve been significantly better if it happened 10 years ago in a detective story. it’s just easier to gloss over the decision to kill someone for a book she has no guarantee will see commercial success, if we start out the story with her being a renowned author. also, I can clearly imagine Poirot giving his monologue revealing the killer like “but the food, it was clean. monsieur Dan was not the one responsible for mademoiselle Eve’s mysterious illness…” “but the poison, it was not in the food, nonono, it was in the drink.” “because it was *you*, mademoiselle Bri, who poisoned your friend, so that you could publish her book under your own name!”

Why did Eve only feel sick after eating Dan's food if Bri was poisoning her???

There could be multiple reasons for this, one, Bri would only poison Eve on days she went to her boyfriend house to pin the blame on him, two, she could always sneak into the house (which is very unlikely) to poison her food I suggest the first one

Much better ending to the poison story would be if Eve figured out that it was Bri but didn't say anything about it. Bri brings over the wine, and Eve poisons Bri's glass while she isn't looking.

About the cyanide, what you said about cyanide instantly killing you isn’t entirely true. There was one person known to have survived cyanide poisoning, and now I’m convinced that the main character’s real name is Grigori Rasputin, she’s a Russian monk, and this entire story is set in 1916 Saint Petersburg.

It is very unlikely Rasputin actually was as tenacious as people believe he was. Considering the stories of him surviving come entirely from his assassins, it seems far more likely Rasputin's killers just didn't want to admit they were really bad at their jobs. No, the person who survived Čabrinović, one of the assassins of Franz Ferdinand. When he failed to kill the Archduke (this is a story I highly recommend reading by the way, it's actually hilarious how badly everyone involved managed to fuck up) he tried to jump in a river and swim to safety, only to realise it was low tide and the river was only a few feet deep, and then tried to eat cyanide to avoid capture, only to immediately vomit it up, not even giving it enough time to start being digested. In this case, there are many witnesses and the man was finally taken alive.

I...I don't think cyanide poisoning could be tested for...at least not through regular blood work. this is someone that watched part of an episode of CSI and thought "I have it! best mystery ever!"

Yep + it taked over a month to get the test done. Cyanide is so lethal in such small doses that normally the only time it would be considered would be on autopsies. There are only a very few labs in america equipped to even do those tests. And police would be immediatly alerted and brought into this.. + other red flags but you know.. it is this kind of quality writing

Drew reading this is probably way more entertaining than downloading the app. Good job Drew!
