Tokens take too damn long to collect

Exactly either make them easier to get or lower the amount needed for each card, I’m almost to collection level 11,000 and I have 1200 tokens and have barely got any in this past month. 6000 for a card is literally gonna take about 6 months at this rate

This is my real issue with the game honestly, 100 tokens is awfully small, especially when you get them so inconsistently. It's even worse when the only other means is through the missions, but you have to have the new card to get them, and it's only 200 tokens...wow.. More tokens and more ways to acquire them would make it much better

Yep, after you complete Pool 3, you go from directly getting a whole new card to getting 1/30 or 1/60 of ONE card (100 tokens). All that between the "titles" and "pixel avatars" it's absolutely terrible

This really does highlight just how bizarre the acquisition system is after completing Series 3. The caches/reserves go from being your primary way of obtaining cards and a source of lots of excitement to basically being a non-entity.

Glad to see some creators still have the balls to call this out. It’s absolutely pathetic how little they’ve given us in the new system.

The new system? I'm confused about what is the new system you're talking about. Collector's token came out a month or 2 after initial release with the 3k or 6k cost for series 4 and 5 respectively.

@@StrungOut844 I guess it’s not new but since the introduction of spotlight keys. Before that we had regular series drops, the chance of getting new cards in reserves, much higher token/gold amounts, and variant rushes. Now we get gold conquest tickets…

@@StrungOut844 When spotlights started they significantly reduced the rate of token acquisition. They also made it so you can no longer find a series 4/5 card in caches, only in spotlight keys. Doing both was too much. Then they added the gold conquest tickets in there too. I get that you don't need as many tokens with the spotlight system, but they reduced the rates too much, unless they add other ways to get spotlight keys or tokens outside the collection track. They did do this in a bundle with a spotlight key in it recently, but it was a big whale bundle prices at $75 or something.

@@lburwell99 Changing the rates and adding a bunch of crap in the pool of stuff you can get out of the reserves sucks indeed. They should lower the spotlight keys to a 100 levels instead of 120, that would be a step in the right direction.

You that spend a lot are so frustrated with this opening, now think about f2p or people who have very low budged to spend... this is RIDICULOUS.

I spend a fair amount on the game (definitely not on things like that ridiculous Shang-Chi bundle, but most things with good credit amounts because I just like upgrading variants), but I feel absolutely horrible for F2P players. I can't even fathom how frustrating it has to be trudging through this system.

I kinda miss the reserves prior to the spotlight caches, we used to get up to 400 credits, 600 tokens and 200 gold, now they feel awful. It's crazy that they made a system to improve getting new cards (spotlight caches) and this system work around using our credits to upgrade our cards and get keys to get the new cards, however they lowered the overall credits we get. It makes no sense to me

All the other top streamers look the other way or are super biased in what the the company is doing....... i finally put the game down and ill admit it was really difficult becasue the objectives and rewards are time based, meaning if you arent keeping up you miss out so you cant help but force your self to keep playing which makes it not fun.... it just felt like a chore. they have the time to keep pumping all these ridiculously expensive bundles that they are delusional in thinking players will pay 100 dllrs but they cant give players what they want like customizable borders..... its sad how greedy they are and the fact that no one in their team calls them out for it

To make it even worse they're releasing all new cards to series 5, and having a new release and season pass card the same week (which they didn't before) so it's impossible to keep up. My play has dropped significantly because of the lack of meaningful progress casual players can make.

I’ll call bluff on Second Dinner force opening our caches. At worst, they’ll save me the hassle of opening disappointment manually.

I just want to say, after you open the second swarm variant, that Nikola Čižmešija is one of the most underrated Snap artists and deserves more love. The Kraven, Hobgoblin and Swarm are all Nikola variants and most of his are great, especially his Silver Samurai

Avatars should come with variants. Titles should come with credits. Tickets shouldnt even be in there because the whole point is earning them. Why not bundle a few things together in each reserve? And then Second Dinner also wants to punish the players who saved up. Devs should never punish players for playing their game because they refused to open boxes that are shit.

I have 500+ as well, I'm never opening them after watching this.

I haven't even all S3 cards yet, and every time, I don't get a card, it feels so disappointed. Have to play the same 5 deck for months. Tokens I like for the future, credits are okay too, variants I don't give a shit. All I want is cards in a card game lol.

Actually, I think you did pretty decent on your reserves. For me, getting credits is the best, with very few variants being worthwhile. Everything is just to push to the next spotlight key. Also, I liked the "Have you seen my brain," title you got.

Collection level 11214, haven't opened a reserve since CL6502. Not worth the time to open at this point, nothing worthwhile in them. Honestly wouldn't mind SD revamping them and opening them all up for me haha

They really need to make changes to this. They really need to increase the amount of tokens you get in caches in order to encourage people to actually play. Its so disheartening to only get 1 series 5 card every month

Glad you're finally doing this, as I saw what Second Dinner said so I went ahead and just did it. And yeah, these rewards suck. The economy in the game feels very greedy. I've been saving my gold for a good gold bundle, and there just hasn't been a good one in all of 2024. Just these absolutely ridiculous money greedy bundles.

I open them for variants. Its usually roughly 1 in 10. Your loading is faster than mine, which is a scary thought. Mine are roughly 3-6 seconds.

Exactly! Reserves are the least rewarding they have ever been. You might as well just save em for when you need keys for caches.

Honestly if the collector's reserve only contains cosmetics + the ticket and you can claim the credits and tokens on the track instead of the reserve it will give much more excitement to open them.

Thanks for posting this. I agree - the caches were a lot more exciting when I was still trying to get series 3. Lol.

That Black Panther pixel is one of my favorites. So clean and great contrast between foreground and background.

Just shows that once you complete series 3 and can no longer get new cards from reserves, there's absolutely no reason to keep opening them.

I'm glad/happy you released the video.. couple reasons.. 1) content is content 2) it shows other players what the odd's are... Me personally not free to play but I do not have unlimited key's so I love collector tokens (yes I wish it was 200 / 300 but they do slowly add up) .. I do think 25 - 100 gold should be added to collector reserves (it takes 700 gold for a varient).. and maybe emotes.. but after playing Snap since Jan 2023 (Zabu season pass) I think the collector reserve system is a much better system than the previous random 4 or 5 drop if your lucky.. Game has done 180 when it comes to card collecting & I think its in a really good spot.. The spotlight keys screw me 90% of the time but I still like the gamble.

While you at it - I genuinely not managed to get a new spotlight card without using four keys every time in like the last 4 months. I don’t for a second believe this is ‘bad luck’

I'm actually glad I blew open my hoard of caches. The credits I got were pretty much an extra key right there. That plus the fortitude to forego using keys for three weeks has left me in a place where I'm not worried about missing out on cards I want for a while. I can understand Alex's reaction given that he has so many keys stored up that there's nothing more the caches can offer him in terms of progression. But for me, who can use every credit or token I can get my hands on, the only caches that felt bad to open were the ones that gave gold tickets (since I often don't have the time to devote to playing a whole 10-cube match). Just a different perspective.

This is my perspective too. Most players need Collector's Tokens and Credits so when you get those from the Reserves it's not bad. Only bad reward are the gold tickets and a variant/title/avatar you don't like. Alex is only pissed because he's in the 1% of Snap players who doesn't have to worry about any in-game currency.

I'm in a similar position, I ended up with like 320 unopened caches. I wasn't especially saving them, I was just getting no enjoyment from opening them so I stopped. Over the last couple seasons I've tried to open a few more, I'm down to like 260 now, but at CL 1700ish they're so slow to open, and once I hit two or three gold tickets in a session I lose any incentive to open more. I usually end the season with 30-40 silver and 10-20 gold tickets unused - I don't want to waste caches on more gold tickets at that point, as they're just going to convert to random boosters (remember when they used to include boosters in caches and the community all hated it? gold tickets were their way of bringing that back but hiding it and I really dislike them).

You get one per week if you are 100% F2P. That's a very weird definition of "working your ass off" if logging in daily for 5 minutes for 14 days is that.

They better upgrade rewards from the caches, because this is absolutely horrendous. Getting titles and avatars feel worse than getting hit in the nuts.

SD needs to watch every second of this video

I'm close to uninstalling Marvel Snap myself. My big issue with it is new cards - most new cards are Series 5, cost 6000 Tokens to get and once they're out, they get placed in almost every deck. Look no further than Corvus Glaive, Alioth and Annihilus. I would include Skaar and Ms. Marvel but they're season pass cards. However, Ms. Marvel still pisses me off because every deck has to have her in it. Skaar has to be a key component in some decks too. Also, Gold and Tokens are very scarce so it's insanely difficult to get them. BUT the biggest problem is that the Spotlight Caches are complete pieces of garbage that give you nothing but variants and duplicates.

On top of all that, keys are so valuable, I am pigeon holed into staying in my comfort archetypes and not experimenting with different archetypes due to not having keys saved up. Just recently came back to the game. Pretty close to putting the game back on the shelf myself.

And even if you bite the bullet and buy the season pass to get the card because it turns out to be widely applicable, there's no guarantee you won't end up with an elsa bloodstone situation where the card becomes completely unplayable for months immediately afterward. Either way, you might end up locked out of what you wanted to play and left waiting for months for SD to put the card you actually need in a spotlight cache (and hoping you have enough of those saved up to even roll for it). Nothing about it feels good to engage with.

i hate this cache sysytem. Get rid of the gold tickets, lower the pulls of titles/avatars, up the tokens a bit, and sprinkle in a rare spotlight key here and there. Then it wouldn't be so ass.

They should put all cards on the collection track exactly like how series 1, 2, and 3 cards are. Have a series 4 and 5 if you want, but no difference on collection rate through the collection track.

Re: getting above 10,000 credits: if you can see that you'll be getting credits, and it would put you over 10,000, the game will block you from claiming them. However, since Collector's Reserves are random, they don't want to block you from opening them just because of your credit total, and they don't want to cheat you out of the credits you would get, so when you get them there they'll keep stacking up above 10,000. I'm not sure if there is an upper limit on how many you can get this way, but if there is I'd guess it would be a really big number. Full disclosure: I don't know for sure that this is why they've designed it this way, but it's an educated guess based on what I know about game designers' ways of thinking.

I love how "watch me open caches and get nothing" is now a genre of video in the Snap community lol, I've got 100 unopened now as well and I ain't touching them until they change this because it's ridiculous

Actually better rewards than I thought itd be. Maybe I'm coping and they've broke my expectations. Dozen variants, bunch of creds, and some tokens, really ain't so bad imo. What else could they even contain? Dudes got all the cards.

I also have 100's of unopened caches, and am debating opening them. It is highly possible second dinner makes the rewards worse in the future.

I haven't opened any collection reserves yet. (only like 200) Thank you for opening yours so I didn't have to. Here's hoping they age like wine and not milk.

Use to get really excited to get a new card and immediately tinker with it. Now the collection system is painful to open.

In addition to the Frank Miller run of Daredevil, you need to read the David Mack and Brian Bendis runs on Daredevil as well. I am a new player at collection level 1500 and I get variants of the cards I own. I do not get new cards, probably every 100 collection level I get 1 series 3 card,rest are gold tickets and avatars what you got in this video.

It would be nice if SD boosted the drop rates of variants (I think it is 40% of the cosmetic containing caches) and increased tokens to 150-200. Easy way to improve Collector's Caches

I'm wondering what you expected. There is nothing in Collectors Caches anymore. Maybe a decent variant once or twice. But that's it. You just don't get anything valuable anymore in caches. 100 tokens is a joke. And if you don't enjoy Conquest (I don't), then Gold tickets are also worth nothing.

The cache experience has really gotten to be awful, I only open at this point for the extra credits. Hoping for anything better is a pipe dream and will just end up with disappointment

Between this, locations that take your deck away, switch your deck with your opponent, 25% chance to draw a new card from a spotlight cache, the constant RNG to card collection/locations, and the abysmal monetization for a mobile game, it's a better feeling to just flip a coin than play Marvel Snap anymore.

Maybe it's because he did them all in big bursts compared to me just opening mine when I hit them. But it felt like he got more variants out of caches than I ever got lol

Yeah the variants weren't bad.

So i realized they werent ever gonna improve the caches so i open them everytime i claim a spotlight in the firat 2 or 3 weeks of a season , never during the last week , they are boring and mostly a chore , but as a F2Player i cant not collect the meager resources within

This made me sad. Thanks for being a real one!

Pants is 100% from Hearthstone, not the game but the players So so so many players had usernames ending in "pants" and I never found out why

I have 132 and was just thinking about this….thats why I’m watching to reassure my decision to abstain 😅
