    Thankyou for your service but its a known fact that the 1911 chambered in 45 takes way too much training for the average grunt. Most rounds were fired out of fear at hit nothing. This is why the M1 carbine was issued. 45s in war rarely hit their targets unless in close combat

    Nice pistol especially for $400. You might have tested them, if you haven't you should but I've bought 2 models of the Tisas 1911 in the last year. A Tank Commander 9 (Commander 9mm) for $375 and a Stakeout 45 (Govt Model 45) with the bells and whistles for $430. Forged slide and frame, hammer forged barrels and the 9mm is ramped. High quality, very accurate, great sights, no malfunctions (my 9mm has over 1100 rounds thru it) and a pleasure to shoot. I USED to build 1911's and I can't get the quality parts to even start a new build for that price. Amazing pistols at an unbelievable price.

    I own a RIA 1911A1 GI Model and that thing is not only one of the best made handguns I own, but it's also one of the most accurate pistols that I own. That thing even with crappy GI sights, is a tack driver with rounds hitting exactly where I aim. The reason why I think RIA 1911's are so good is because they've been making them in the Philippines almost as long as Colt has been making them. That's pretty much their national firearm. You can tell that people making these take a lot of pride in their craft. No doubt about it, RIA 1911's of any caliber are an incredible value for the quality of the firearm that you get.

    The "false lock" is being caused by the extended ambidextrous safety. You're running a high thumbs forward grip. The side of your firing hand and your thumb can hit the extended end of that style safety and lift it into the slide on firing. If you were to switch that safety for a standard style one, the problem will disappear.

    The way the 1911 safety works, that can't happen. It keeps the slide locked in its forward most position. Perhaps you mean the slide stop is bumping upwards? That happens quite often in 1911's with spicy rounds. Shoot right hand only and watch that problem disappear. Its a grip issue.

  • @lancelotvt

    @lancelotvt

    10 ай бұрын

    I have a Rock Island standard GI model without the Ambi safety and I also had the occasional slide lock issue. The actual problem is due to machining tolerances on the slide stop itself. The part of the slide stop that interfaces with the magazine follower to push it up and lock the slide on the last round is machined ever so slightly too large and can sometimes come in contact with the rounds as they move up in the magazine. This will push the slide stop up like the follower normally would and cause the slide to lock back. As you shoot the gun more the finish can polish down and this will occur less and less. I removed mine and gently made a few passes with a file and polished it up and have not had the issue since.

    I bought the 4 1/4" version of this gun when Grabagun had them for @$500. I wanted to see what they were all about. I was pleasantly surprised how well made and fit it was. I put @1000 rounds through it of a mix of cheap(read weak) stuff like federal,S&B, Remington etc and a bunch of my full power handloads as well as some Buffalo Bore and Underwood. It had a couple of (i believe magazine induced) malfunctions in the first couple hundred rounds and since i gave it 2 McCormick and 2 Wilson dedicated mags its been 100% reliable. Which made me decide to fix the things i didn't like. I replaced the Mainspring housing with a 25lpi Remington i had on hand, i tossed the trash sights where they belong and installed a set of Dawson precision. I installed a Cylinder and Slide trigger/hammer/sear to replace the MIM crap, and at some point ill replace the grip safety with something checkered also. I also tossed the hideous G10(hate those things) and installed a set of plain black plastic checkered grips. I really come to like this gun a lot! Its accurate , reliable and now almost the way i like them! That shit safety still needs to go and when the rest of the finish falls off ill probably checker the front strap(if i can hide those ugly vertical lines) and put a decent blk/blued finish on it. Its no longer the $500 bargain i was hoping for but its now a gun i trust and enjoy set up how i like it for less than i can buy an equivalent for. Kinda hard to knock them.

I bought a RIA Ultra FS 1911 about 5 years ago. It was my first ever 10mm pistol and I love it. I really appreciate the grips on it as well. G10 grips are appropriate for a 10mm, and much better to have than the standard wood grips you get on many 1911s. It has been extremely reliable and a very nice shooter. This proves that you don't have to break the Bank to get a good product. This RIA will do everything that a Dan Wesson, or Wilson Combat will do stop the threat. Modern Engineering has improved technology x 10 all over the world. Good Video

    One thing you missed, RIA 1911's are series 70. Filipinos worship JMB. They've gone from "iffy" in the 90's (some decent, others not) to super solid values and consistent reliability. Them and the Turks are killing it with JMB designed pistols.

    I had one when they first came out. Didn't have a good experience. Front sight fell off, had the slide locking issue on a loaded mag (not caused by my thumb), and some feeding issues. It was a let down for me compared to my .45 Rock FS.

    @@m4rvinmartian The gun has so much weight to it with the full length rail dust cover. The recoil feels like shooting a compact 9mm. If I run out of ammo I can use the gun as a blunt weapon.

    My g29sf malfunctioned for the first time with new mags while doing a mandatory 6-month qual. The certifier said do you have another firearm I said yes a Rock Island armory full size GI. He said you have one minute to go grab it from my locker. I came back 2 or 3 minutes later normal score of 240 out of 250 this to a 215 would still meet qualification standards. It was mostly the external safety. When you mention the extended beavertail I was bleeding on the range from Hammer bite. I tried to hide it but he noticed and said you're lucky I don't disqualify you just for that nonsense. I tried to slow down later and visualize how in the world I was getting Hammer bite. I guess I have fat hands and I could never quite duplicate the real world scenario. Ultimately I passed and had to carry a full-size 1911 GI for the next 6 months .I told people it's no problem until I got to change back to my Glock 29 then it really hit home to me what I had been missing.
