I never want to have children and no one has the right to keep asking me WHY? | Lynn Ngugi Show

To many women, having kids is a dream come true but Muthoni Gitau is not one of those women.
She made a conscious decision to never have children and she hopes the society can learn to respect other people's decisions.

I fully understand where she is coming from if I knew what i know now about the realities of life, i probably will not have kids. Interesting discussion. Not easy though. The African woman has been socialized in a strong patriarchal society that dictates how she should live her life. When she choses differently she is judged harshly. My take is that God gifted the woman with a womb. A spiritual womb and a physical womb. If she choses not to bear children (with her physical womb) she can still birth other things such as a business empire and other causes, passions and hobbies that she choses. I think that a woman's greatest weapon is self love. Once we understand this we will never live our lives trying to please society and the expectations of others. We will, like Muthoni fight aggressively to love ourselves and live life according to our own terms. This is a true awakening that is happening in the collective womanhood. Unfortunately women who choose this lifestyle are fought by their fellow women. Most women are on autopilot living their lives as society has dictated. But many are awakening and chosing themselves first. Unapologetically like Muthoni. I salute you Muthoni. Lynn as always........great content. Keep up the great work.

Deciding not to have a child is one of the most unselfish decision ever. Children are given responsibilities before they are even born - to repair a marriage, to please parents etc. being a parent is not easy. let us normalize giving to children when we want to. otherwise we will continue to raise damaged kids right, left and center. Good job Lynn for this conversation.

Can may/-have be a topic people discuss during dating and can we be okay with it ? E.g. I don't want to inherit my family's big image ...And that's okay. I don't want to inherit their business.... A man that doesn't ask himself questions about the possibilities of creating a life after raw sex isn't mature enough to be having sex in the first place. Pregnancy is the responsibility of 2 people, if men don't want kids this bad I wonder why we have very low tolerance and use for vasectomies.. it's a sure way of the man taking charge of the situation.. have sex without spilling your seeds allover the place. There's even an option of freezing sperms for future use... That's much cheaper than creating a whole human being then neglecting them, raising Kids without father figures only for them to grow up traumatized n in need of therapy guys let's do better

Muthoni speaks the truth we are all scared to face..Women should decide what they want with their bodies and the fact that having a baby means literally another life.. I don't think we think enough about what that even means.. Shine Muthoni ☀️And religion lol😂it's just how the church is so ready and okay really to see so many hungry neglected children but the minute you say I want to decide if I even want to have or keep a baby then suddenly let's talk about the Bible.. Our bodies our choice ❤️

It's shallow to always drive everything towards the gender dirt road. This is not about just women, wonder woman. Men too choose not to have kids and still get the same bashing socially. Nick Ndeda even had a vasectomy trying not to have kids. Ignore that for likes and hopes that some NGO will pick it up and crown you a champ of all feminists. I am for human rights, not these divisive activists who practice reverse discrimination.

It's amazing to me that people say being childfree is selfish. I am actively choosing not to bring someone into this world who doesn't get to decide whether or not they want to come. That to me, is selfless. More than half of today's parents are in no position: mentally, financially, psychologically to raise a human being. Let them stay in the world of non-existence until you are prepared to raise children in a stable home on every front. There is nothing selfish about that.

All I know is that almost all the women I have met who never had kids, they age slower! Having kids is very stressful, it's just that we are conditioned as women to sacrifice ourselves for the betterment of others, and we think that is what makes us happy. If you do not want to have children, don't because you will be bearing the biggest burden of raising them and carrying them in your heart forever and this is an enormous responsibility. This was a great conversation and I like this young lady, she has realized something a lot of women are yet to; we should make a conscious effort to choose ourselves.

Then when we got in front of the cemetery I would scare him and he would ran for his life! On this fateful day,I borderd the bike as usual and stuffed my nosetrills with cottonwool as usual.when we got into the cemetery I scared him but this time he just stared at me. I danced all the coast songs I know... But he didn't even move.i even spoke pidgin "oga you no details fear ghost!?🙄 Nothing happened. He got up and held my shirt "nipatie pesa zangu mjinga hii" I begged the guy to calm down and let me get it for him...I went into the cemetery as he held my shirt and followed me.As I was walking I jokingly knelt down on a grave and knocked on it "habari nisaidie na 200 nipatie hii ghasia iniachilie" I thought this would scare the guy....but nothing! Kindongo kindongo a hand stretched out from the grave holding 200/- note " chukua hi na unirudishie ukipata" My brothers and sisters ...to date...I still don't know who carried who between me and the bike man out of the cemetery. Actually I like Muthoni's liberal way of thinking;she is self-aware of who she is.Whether the society considers her to be right or wrong...the point is she is living her truth while others live lies, lies instilled in them by societal expectations. Lots of love for you young lady. You are also very eloquent.

I think is time we start talking about the real issues that comes with marriage and having children to the young generation, Not this dancing competition marriages and pretentious social media propaganda. For those of us that believe in Christ the bible didn't say without kids or marriage you Will go to hell, just stay away from fornication. God bless

Muthoni knows what she wants which is awesome. Some people are saying she will regret it when she is old. How many do we know that have kids and never see them. They are abroad working and doing life. For others their kids have died before them. Getting kids so that they can take care of you in old age is selfish. Just get kids if you love them not for other reasons.

It's true what she said about the host of The Real Show, but Jeannie Mai just announced her pregnancy, I watched it yesterday, people do change their minds, for Jennie she had frozen her eggs just in case, and look at her now, happy mama to be. That being said I respect our guest's decision if that's what she has decided, it's her life and I wish her well, for me it's actually the opposite, I really wanted to have babies but according to the Doctors it's not possible, I have tried everything😢😢😢😢😢

Jeannie Mai is not Muthoni. she has talked severally about the child abuse from a relative for a long time and how that affected how she felt about her ability to have/ care for kids especially when her mother covered for that abuser. So no, not every Childfree story will change like Jeannie's.

It’s also a misconception for people to think men also want wives and kids. We’re all just conforming to societal expectations. If anything besides companionship, men get nothing out of marriages!

Every choice has 2 sides. The cost and the reward. I personally have a problem when people talk about the rewards of liberty and not the cost. Share both sides and let people learn. Kids have a cost and a reward, and so does living child-free.

I too, decided that I will not have kids. I first mentioned it when I was 13 years old. Now in my late 30's and I haven't changed my mind. The things I have heard from people, especially the deeply religious, regarding my choice are appalling. They take it very personally. I've been called selfish, bla, bla. Some suggesting that only a white foreigner would marry someone like me🤣🤣🤣. But I decided that I will not do as the society expects of ALL women just so I can fit in. I respect those who choose to have children. It's an awesome journey am sure, for those who choose to do it, but its not for everyone. We are each unique, have different dreams and desires and none of us should hold back on taking a particular path because of fear of rejection and judgement.
