It's been just over three weeks since I went in to have a colonoscopy for my ulcerative colitis. During that procedure my bowel was perforated and I ended up with an emergency ileostomy that afternoon (the bowel was in horrible shape). I told sooooo many people (doctors, nurses, friends, family; anyone who came in to my room really) that the reason I was dealing with the whole thing so well was because you shared your experience with the world. You sharing your experience on KZread and me being able to watch that content back at the beginning of the year before all this happened for myself allowed me to come to terms with accepting my stoma a lot better and treating this journey with a positive outlook! Thank you so so much I honestly have know idea how I would have coped with the last few weeks without the amazing work you've done!

Hannah Witton. Thank you for your honesty and thoroughness in dealing with and reporting what has happened to you. I agree with everything Myron Speed has said. Your positive attitude is the only way to deal with the nasty bits of life. Decades ago My mother had to have a stoma and in those days everyone shied away from even mentioning it. Sad and a lost opportunity to bond. I'll still be afraid if it happens to me but your videos have shown me the way through any adversity . Thank you again 😂✔👍❤
I know your pain. My kidney was destroyed when a stone blocked the ureter and the back pressure tears the kidney tissue apart. Its “kill me now” pain. The passage of time makes the memory of that pain fade. Good to see you survived with a smile. Sorry you have had to go thru all this...
I'm a nurse in the US (Georgia specifically) & I reallllly enjoy watching all your videos. Working in trauma/emergency nursing I don't get to hear about long term things people go through or this in depth of pt experience. I love your content outside of this stuff too. So sorry to hear this though & sending happy healthy thoughts your way!
So sad to hear that you were in hospital again :( As a healthy person, I will make sure to run and jump and dance and appreciate every second of it. For you, for my grandpa who's leg was just amputated and for all other people who can't.
Crazy respect for Dan having the mental strength to keep supporting you through all this! and also of course glad you're now doing better and Mona is working again! lets hope no more surgery!

Ok so just to clarify. Mona is the name she gave to her stoma and Dan IS her boyfriend/lifemate. OH! and Crazy respect for Dan having the mental strength to keep supporting you through all this! I think it is called LOVE.
Aww Hannah I’ve been following this whole thing and I was so amazed by how brave and honest you are. I am so sure that this is extremely helpful for a huge number of people out there. Even if just to feel not so alone. I am sending you lots of love and lots of get well soon vibes ❤️
It sounds like an awful month for you! I'm so glad you're getting better even with the set backs. I also have a chronic illness and it's so validating to hear you talk about your frustration and discouragement. I wouldn't wish that on anyone, but since it's out of my control, it sure is nice to know I'm not alone in the sometimes-discouraged club. I wish you a speedy recovery and no more adhesions!
Same happened to me 2 years ago after I had my large bowel removed 😞
I am in Med school and literally studying ibds and gastroenterology for my next exam and following your journey has been both very informative and interesting. Wishing you all the best xx
A&E Accident and Emergency aka ER.
Couldn't relate more re mindset of 'oh this is gonna happen again'. I had my stoma for 2 years and then all of a sudden my small intestine twisted itself ☺️👍 cool. It's called volvulus. I had to have emergency open surgery to fix it and was so nervous for a long time after. It's now been another year and I'm fine 😊 try not to worry and celebrate small victories! Here to chat if you want xx
Actually cringing at the central line needle size! So glad you're on the mend again, continue to get well soon! xx

Lauryn Kavanagh making my neck feel weird just thinking about it! So brave ❤️
What a sh*tshow. So sorry all this happened to you. Very glad you’re better now. I remember not being allowed to eat anything for like three and a half days due to hospital stuff and this girl I was sharing a room with constantly dug into her snacks and ate all her food directly next to me. I never wanted to harm a living being but this one had it coming.

ShaleeGold damn, I can feel your frustration through the screen... Also: litteral "shit show" pun is detected ;)
Sorry to hear that you've had to go through this again. Stay strong, Hannah!
It is astonishing to me just how unbelievably strong you are. Everything about this is makes me sad and angry for you so I cannot even imagine how you feel. I am so glad you have such a strong support system around you, but I also pray for all the people out there that might also be going through this without that support system. I hope your videos at least will reach them to show them their not alone ❤
I’m so so sorry to hear this. You are so strong, I cannot even imagine going through half of this. I hope you have good recovery from now on ❤️
I was in hospital with a family member when she had emergency abdominal surgery last month and she was the same way! She had not eaten for days and was not allowed to drink any water. Finally she was allowed to have one cup of ice chips every four hours. She was SO AWARE of the time lol. Then after her surgery she was allowed to have liquids and unlimited ice chips. She was so incredibly ecstatic. I kept having to remind her that she could have more and she was so pleased each time.
I’ve had multiple abdominal gynaecological surgeries. Can honestly say that adhesions were the most painful and scary experiences. I knew I had minimal organs left for there to be a problem, so couldn’t understand why I was in so much pain. FYI pineapple juice with mouth sponges is really good for the dryness!
Sending you all the best 💜💜 so good of you to be open about this! xxxxx
You’re so strong Hannah for going through this and talking so openly about it! Get well soon, we’re all rooting for you ❤️
Had tears in my eyes the entire time, it's really hard watching you go through this but I'm so proud of you for being so strong! I hope things start looking up from now on, love ♡

SO sorry to learn of this but I'm THRILLED that you're OK and healing! You have been handed FAR more than your share of adversity at such a young age but your resiliency, attitude and spirit are both amazing and commendable! Get well soon Hannah we NEED bright minds and individuals like you!

wishing you a speedy recovery
Thinking of you!! I hope the recovery goes well, you're amazing and so strong and I can't wait to see all the amazing things you're going to be doing once you're up and about
I need to tell you that you are so inspiring to talk about this so openly, here! As you were describing the steps of what was happening it brought me back to when I had stage 4 appendix cancer and I can understand different elements of what you have gone through! You show your bravery in these videos, there are many lows in this process so when you hit a high it feels so great! When you were discussing the NG tube and using the sponge for any type of moisture, I know that is an amazing feeling to get anything!! You have a wonderful attitude about this whole process and I can tell you are a strong person to get through this!! Again thank you for posting this and hopefully many others will be inspired by your bravery!!! This experience has changed your life, but you are a going to be stronger because of it!!! Thank You for sharing your story!!!
That's to bad that you had to go through all of that again. Sorry to hear about. I am happy that you are getting better and I hope you don't have to go through that again. I wish you all the best and you have a lot of fans supporting you.

gosh hannah. i’m so so sorry. you’re so brave. i was in hospital with an ibs flare up a while back but nothing like this. it was super hard to deal with and i can’t imagine how you dealt with that. so proud of you
Oh no! I'm so sorry this happened! Thank you so much for sharing, you're a great role model for young women with health problems - you certainly help me feel a lot better about it. I hope you're recovery continues to go well!
You're such a strong lil' bean, so glad you are recovering faster this time around!
You're so strong and inspirational, you have no idea! I hope everything goes smooth from now on, wishing you all the best ❤️
I find you inspirational Hannah! I’ve had several health problems throughout my life and I can relate a lot to what you’re going through. I get the mental state tho, when stuff comes back (even if it’s not the same) it seems like it will never go away and it will never get better. But it not only will get better as you will get stronger about it. Every day you learn something new about what you have and that also will help you in dealing with it. Thanks for sharing your experience, I am not only learning but feeling comforted in knowing that I’m not the only one with a subpar health in my 20s.
BIG HUGS BACK AT YOU!!! So much of what you talk about in this is in such a good humour, it is hard to realize how devastating it must have been, except that it happened to me after knee surgery... a fall put me back 2 months, but better than the 6 months after surgery... keep cool (have a daughter up in Liverpool, sweating it out)... both mentally and physically... cheers, dc
Thank you for sharing your experiences with us! As a nurse, it’s so helpful to hear stories about patients and how they perceive healthcare. I hoe you have a fast recovery!
Hannah I'm so sorry this happened! I hope you recover speedily and that Mona doesn't play up again anytime soon. Your strength and bravery is truly remarkable and I wish you all the best.
Thank you so much for sharing this. You are awesome and my favourite youtuber! Also me and mum think you are inspirational. Hope your recovery is speedy xx
Glad you’re feeling better again, hope you will have a smooth recovery xx
Make a plan right now to celebrate Dan´s birthday in one months time. Put it in the calendar, make everything as it really is. Enjoy it both of you
I've been fed through a nasogastric tube but never had one to drain my stomach - I wasn't aware that was a thing. Sorry you've been through this and hope you have a speedy recovery. x
Hannah you're so strong, I'm sorry this is happening to you but I also admire you so much for coming out of this and still have a smile on youre face. I had health problems in the past and they weren't nearly as bad as what you're going through and I know how badly that got me down mentally and I honestly have so much admiration that you've now gone through it for the second time and still have that sense of positivity about you, it requires a special kind of strenght 💛
Stay strong 💛 wishing you a successful recovery.
I'm so glad you're better, and thanks for sharing! Best wishes for your recovery!
Im so sorry this happened. I can only imagine what it must be like, i hope you get better soon!!!!
Sending you so much love my dear. I can't begin to imagine what this whole process has been like for you
You are the only person that I feel can completely understand what I’m going through. I so sorry you had to do surgery again and the frustration after finally feeling better and able to freakin’ live again. In two weeks I will go through surgery to get my stoma put down and I’m super nervous. Wish you all the best and health in the future 💕
wish you a swift recovery!
Sending you every ounce of love. I went through a fucking horrific time dealing with suicidal feelings for much of this year and watching your videos was one of my go to methods for coping when I was trying to stop the need to end things. You probably saved my life a few times, so even though I don't know you I have a tremendous amount of care and love for you. I hope you will be okay, I'm sure I'm not alone in being touched by your wonderful personality ❤️
