I need to be honest, I'm struggling

Being a parent to a child with Autism has its challenges, but this is the hardest thing I ever had to go through.

We Autism mommas are the toughest women! We do have our breaking points and moments of depression. I have spent countless times when everybody in my household is finally asleep and I cry it out in the shower. I wash away the day and take the next day as a new start.....day by day....minute by minute. You are the best mom for your child. Please stay strong and focus on the fun....positive things. Even if it's playing a funny movie or blowing bubbles for the kids. I'm sending you an online hug🤗. I understand.....I have two boys on the spectrum too. You are amazing! You are a warrior!

you sound so great , im awake , my son is awake as usual until maybe 3 or 4 am , if im lucky and if he is lucky aswell ,its enough we all have to deal with our children and your right we are the best , there are not many of us that would do what we do , with love , compasssion ,shire determination , i am absolutley so knackered its been 13 years grabbing sleep when i can wether its in the afternoon , im 50 and so im feeling it more and more , but i would move a mountain for my son , that s how i feel and i will fight so hard to keep him heathly and happy and make life an adventure a memory i know he will never forget but then life gets in the way , and people who i thought had all the answers or at least knew more than i have let me down ie the doctors and so called experts , i have faith in some , but its times like these , i feel like i am knocking my head against the biggest wall , why can't they hear me and just help my son , patience is the key , and for me keep calm, and speak softly i cannot loose it or get angry , like you sometimes i wait til he is asleep to have a little cry but my sons hearing is so intuned , he can hear me threw 3 rooms and 3 doors and i am whispering , anyway , i think , thank god there are mothers and fathers like you around to look after our unique children who love and adore them so much . he is my life and i am his , we are making the most of what we have ,living in the moment , with a glance into the future ,you never run out of love xxxx i thank my son for loving me so much i feel so blessed he does xxxx

Ah, my lovely strong fellow Asc mummy, I felt your frustrations and your sorrow in this video.. I’m keeping your son in my prayers and you don’t have to be iron built and strong all the time.. you ARE allowed to fall, allowed to be overwhelmed and allowed to need someone to hold you as you hold Dylan.. you will get answers and you as a family will come through this .. xx

Thank you for sharing your struggles and your triumphs. My daughter was diagnosed with Pervasive Developmental Disorder about 1985 when she was 5 years old. I learned some 20 years later that was the term then used for children on the autism spectrum. Knowledge and services did not become available until the 2000's. As well she had been diagnosed with another condition which was rare which took precedence in the mind of her Doc. I can relate to your feelings of wanting to do do everything you can for your child and his siblings. It can be very overwhelming. I am glad to hear you have Andrew's support because, as you know so well doing it on your own and keeping your sanity is nigh on impossible. At the time I was caring for my daughter I so desperately needed to hear the stories of others, the good , the difficult and the solutions. One important thing I have learned over the years is the importance of doing one thing in your day to do something in your day that is just for you that can't be undone. Clean dishes, a copper floor, a meal are always undone. Painting your toe nails, a bubble bath, listening undisturbed to a song that gives you pleasure can't be undone. Thank you for your sharing and may Gods blessings continue to be with you.

Sending lots of love and prayers Tara. Thank you for sharing such a difficult time in your life with us, we are all in this together and can share what you are feeling. My son was recently unwell with kidney issues and the medical team would be so patronising when I'd say you'll struggle to get blood, they'd almost roll eyes at me until they experienced it for themselves. Questions like "how much pain is he feeling" and I am like he can't really understand that concept yet. Then they decide he is in no pain, until bloods and scans come back showing he must be in pain. It is horrible and heartbreaking but you'll get through this and so will Dylan - all my love and prayers are with you in this hard time. Your an amazing mum and so strong, we love you xx

Thank you for sharing this. As a mom with a naughty toddler, I sometimes feel tired to take care of the family and work at the same time. But after watching a few of your videos and see other parents with autistic child's comments, I feel I've been spoiled. You taught me and other parents who haven't been through all these what it is like to be strong for our own child! You'll get through this! It's just another obstacle to concur and a phase in life to remember.

You are just such an inspiration to everyone and every parent. You’ve been such a great source of comfort and reassurance for all of us with autistic children in our lives and families and as a thank you for your soul, your honesty, your compassion and your insights I will pray for you every day. As a Muslim we pray 5x a day and I most certainly will remember your family and Dillion in each of those prayers. Please god he makes a full recovery. Amen. Please god he has no untoward or serious diagnoses. Amen. Please god he and all your family are blessed with good health, peace and strength. God bless you. You are such a strong fighting spirit and you’ll carry your son through this.

I found your videos a few months back. We intuitively knew our grandson was on the ASD and were going through the diagnostic period, doing what we all do (research). Thank you for being there, a calm, honest light in the storm. From the comments there's validation in the worthiness of your efforts. I know you are about to teach us much in this scary part of y'alls journey. God bless you. Now is not the time but, in future, please do that video on getting blood work done. My grandson is 2 and already too strong for all but his big, strong father to constrain. His mom and I cry every time. I'm positive this is a common traumatic issue for most. I'd say stay strong but you already are and you'll get your "baby" through this struggle as you have all the others. My heart goes out to you.

Just stumbled across your video and it touched me. I'm the mom to a son with autism as well, and the challenges and victories that come every hour of every day with autism. He also had what we thought was just a particularly horrible entry into adolescence but turned out to be bipolar disorder. He became so delusional that he had to be admitted to a nine month residential facility in order to stabilize and heal from his psychosis and I found myself having to share custody of this child who is my world with strangers who don't see him in entirely the same way as I do. It was beyond stressful. We got through it, as families do, thank God, and we are on a much better place now, though it is a day by day process. All this to say, you're not alone, even when this journey makes you feel completely isolated and beyond exhausted. There are others who really understand, who are from within the same situation and are struggling too. Hugs and peace to you!

God I cried so much!! I’m sending you love and lots of prayers. Our Noah is turning four in two days, and we are constantly worried about such issues, he gets better in some aspects of his development, but then goes through phases were it’s hard and scary, and no matter how much I read and watch stories of other parents talking about this, you always end up in a dark place....praying for your baby to get well ♥️

I understand completely what you are going through. I’m about to say my rosary before I get to sleep. Please know I daily remember your and your family. My idea on autism has made me realize no two kids are alike and consequently there lies the difference. . You are going to be fine. Such a precious family. I was hoping to get to Ireland and spent some time with my twin, sadly that isn’t going to work. We are the youngest of a family of nine and the my sister has Alzheimer’s. I can’t believe seven of my siblings are deceased. It reminds me of how fleeting life is. God love you all, thanks for sharing and do be kind to you.🙏😘😉
