If you know anything about this guy-you know he would never slight a young musician musician, of any age or genre, he has a beautiful heart.

That little girl is something special! She must be protected at all cost. Her innocence and joy for life is infectious. Obviously she has awesome parents.

You’d be surprised how many of these larger than life people are wonderful human beings. I ve met a lot over the years

I have to give Ellen props for the respect she initially showed Mr. Vai by waiting and allowing him to finish what he was currently doing. It speaks volumes of her and how her parents taught her courtesy and respect. I hope she had a great time meeting Mr. Vai and I wish her and Mr. Vai nothing but the best.

I met him and Terry Buzzio when I was not much older than her I was 12 my dad owned a small chain of music stores and had gotten backstage passes for Zappa I was already playing drums and it just inspired me to start playing guitar and haven't stopped since and I'm almost 50 now.

She is absolutely adorable ! Such a great soul. You should be proud dad. Keep up the fantastic work Ellen . You're going to be a big star someday ✨️

It's amazing that 30 years ago when I followed Vais music so close he seemed like such an untouchable and mysterious guitar player...and now seeing him in his studio...chatting with people ...down to earth man...so cool to see the contrast

Vai is such a class act and what a studio, full of positive energy.

Legends like him, opening the doors to new generations, this is what is all about! AWESOME!

I can hardly describe how likeable Steve Vai is. He's not "ONLY" a great creative guitarist but above all a a lovely person. I love how he treats the young lady. Totally nice and human.

The more I watch him interact with people, the more my respect for this man grows. Someone with such flashy techniques and a heart of gold seems almost unreal. Thank you Steve.

I met Steve Vai about 25 years ago and he is exactly like that. Kind and caring to his fans. I respect and admire Steve so much

I love the fact that as the guy leading them to the harmony hut walked across the grass, Ellen reflexively cared about where she was walking and stayed on the pathway because it's not her grass to walk on. I'd like to get my mailman to do that!! I think this is an aspect of Ellen's personality that we all love... because we can tell that she really does care. I vote for swings, too!

My opinion of Steve Vai just blew through the roof. What a good guy!

I loved the fact that the parents let Ellen have her moment with Steve without interruptions, or man-splaning. She is quickly growing into very knowledgeable, professional musician with an understanding of what it takes to exist in a musician's world. Great parental support and a loving home life contribute to her quality development. Good job Hovak and Mari!

Met Vai back in 2009, he's genuinely a cool dude. We talked about blues and the evolution of rock/metal. He won't remember but our conversation stuck with me all this time. It's cool he took the time to talk to us.

Can you imagine the huge positive impact and emotional boost a kid musician would feel being invited to the house/ studio of a famous musician ? She will no doubt remember that for her whole life and it will inspire her to become better and better as a musician and as a person too 🙂🙂🙂 Lastly... It's always nice to see that the people we admire are good people too...

Steve is such a nice guy. In addition to being one of the most influential guitarists of our time and a brilliant musician, he spares no effort to pass on what he knows.

Around mid May, I had the once in a lifetime opportunity of meeting my ultimate hero. In Manchester England, he played with his band, The Fourth Dimension. I had an opportunity of getting back stage because the drummer Gary H was my lifelong friend since my days at music college in Leeds. And at 11.27pm on the 6th May I met John McLaughlin. I am the ultimate fan. Saw the original Mahavishnu in 1972, got the albums, played the grooves off the vinyl, then through the various incarnations followed his work. Then I discovered that my college pal from Leeds (Gary Husband, he of Jack Bruce, Level 42 etc etc) was playing with the 4th Dimension. There was my invite. I chatted with John. He's from my village in Doncaster, Yorkshire. He was wonderful. Did the photo ops thing with joy and delight and left me with my life complete. I'm nearly 68, and I felt like this wonderful little lady in the vid. Like meeting Father Christmas for the first time. I can die happy now.

There are artists that are just as ambitious and technically brilliant; there are human beings that are as wise and enlightened, but I can't think of anyone else that combines the two quite like Mr. Vai.

Steve Vai was so sweet with her. He is such a kind, generous soul. And, little Ellen is just utterly adorable! 🕊️

Look at all the nice things ,, That this little girl has given to her parents. She is a little angel.

A friend of mine from NY posted a couple pics of him and Steve hanging out. My friend is a music teacher at a high school and Steve graduated from the same school. He drops by his old high school and surprises everyone as often as possible. He gives back the gift he was blessed with. Steve Vai is an incredible guitarist, and more important, an incredible human being. We need more of what this man has.

The most enchanting thing about this is the smile on her face going up to the house, and seeing her playing like a kid hopping from one stone step to the next on the walk way. Never loose that spark little one.

For The Love of God is the most beautiful guitar solo ever. For the guy who gave us such greatness to be so humble like he is in this video is just as great as his music. God Bless you, Steve Vai!

@@robertcronin6603 back in college for music, I thought I was hot shit and 'didn't need no Metronome'. I got an electric Franz as a gift, started practicing scales and licks with it, and I immediately got better. It brought me to the next level. I was VERY surprised but I haven't stopped telling folks to just do it.

Ellen has great parents . . . Steve is so fun to watch in concert but now we know that he has a wonderful heart for others, including kids! 😊

I have never seen anything sweeter in my life. Ellen has a lot of life ahead.... and so does Steve Vai!

She absolutely made my day when she said "who" when asked if she liked Miley Cyrus. Edit; I just saw a video where Ellen plays with her father, Hovak Alaverdyan, the brains and driving force behind the band Octavision and it's no wonder she's so good, she has one hell of a teacher!

Via is such a class act. Many famous people would do well to see how beautiful kindness and thoughtfulness is coming from a famous person.

Love seeing visits like this where the current generation inspires the youngsters by interacting with them. Kudos to Steve Vai for making and taking the time for a young fan!!

I got a chance to meet him during a trip down to LA about 15 years ago and while it was a brief moment I could see that he was really a down to earth nice guy and something I'll never forget.

Steve Vai giving back to the youth is wonderful to see… what a kindness. Ellen is so cute but her hard work is inspiring even the legends.

My favourite part of the video was the response from both Ellen and Steve about Miley Cyrus. LOL, that was classic!

When I was a teenager, Steve Vai came to "Brent's Music Headquarters" in Fort Myers Florida and gave a guitar clinic. My uncle Danny took me there and had me ask him a question about playing guitar, and I remember Steve was very kind and patient with his answer. I was a little star-struck to be honest. Truth is, I didn't really know how to play guitar, I was only just learning, it was my uncle who was the pro, but my uncle wanted me to ask anyway because he wanted me to experience what it was like to meet the guy you saw on MTV all the time. Steve Vai is a class act.

We love Ellen because she embodies what music is about. Yes she’s talented. But her passion, authenticity, curiosity and joy are why I’m always excited when new contents is out. We have something to learn from this 10 years old child. Love from Montreal, QC

I just hope that her parents don't force her too much into it. I've met a few prodigy kids who absolutely hated everything about music, yet they were forced into it by their parents, since they were so talented in the craft.

Any young kid interested in music should watch "Crossroads" --- great movie!

I got to spend a few hours with Steve around 9 years ago. He was great. He has a way of making you feel at ease with him. And he seems to have an amazing almost hyper-focused way of speaking with you. Even when there are several people and fans around. He makes you feel like you are the important person in that room. Great musician and a great guy.

I met Steve Vai at Harmony house record store on 09/11/2000 and he is the most friendly, kind person in the music business I have met and I've met roughly 50 or more. While I was waiting to have my picture taken with him he told someone a joke and he started laughing so much he looked at me and gave me a knuckled punch on my upper arm without warning. I couldn't believe it, my favorite guitar player, punched my arm. 😆

I've never seen anything so loving, so youthful, so incredible, as only a meeting between two different musicians can provide.

Very cool Ellen! What a great experience. A friend of mine, who lives here in Vegas (Guy Mann Dude), hung out with Steve for about six months. Steve was helping him with the guitar. This was probably late 1980's. Back then you had no You Tube to watch and learn from, you had to learn from people you know. Steve was nice enough to spend a lot of time with Guy. Guy went on to become one of the Top 50 world's fastest guitarists in "Guitar World" magazine, with a very successful career.

It makes you so happy to see this! Steve is a gentleman!

I've seen Vai in plenty of video interviews and he always is the same guy. Real unassuming and pleasant. Ibanez hit the jackpot when they signed him up years ago.

Oh, my God! I can't imagine the impact a moment like that can do on a girl like Ellen. This will be one of the great moments of her life and, definitely, one of those that will leave a greater mark on his musical career. Love this!

Such a luck girl. I belive this will be one of the most unforgetable experiences in her life. When I was watching this video, I was so excited like I was meeting Steve Vai myself as a child. Wish they all the best.
