@@zedabyu Yes, the head sculpt is much better than the original. Also the added articulation and the glow in the dark are very good additions. Only thing to add now would be some folding wings, if that's even possible. Can't wait to see more creations in the future!

Man, if only Thinkway or some other company would release something like this. This looks absolutely FANTASTIC. Nearly 100% spot-on to how Buzz actually looked in the movies (specifically the first one) when he’s in toy mode. I really wish there was a talking movie accurate size Buzz with the slightly sneering facial expression that he had in TS1.

Yeah, not sure what's stopping them. Even Mattel with the new license doesn't seem to be going down the Toy Mode road. They just don't know what TS fans want

Reason is Price. Cost of designing and molding. The way it was done is cheaper. Usually always comes down to price.

Holy crap! No one was able to replicate the freaky "dead" look that Buzz's eyes gave me, but you did It! You're super talented and deserve more subscribers, Awesome job.

I'm so happy I finally get to see someone make the angry Buzz Lightyear head! I see people showing off their Movie Accurate Buzz Lightyear figures, but they always seem to go for the smiling facial expression seen in Toy Story 3 and 4. I feel like the most iconic image of Buzz Lightyear in the movies is when he's first seen being stared at by Woody on Andy's bed and he has that menacing glare.

When you see the movie accurate Buzz as a real life toy, you can honestly see why Andy wanted it so much! It's such a cool looking toy and the facial expression makes him look so much more badass and appealing to a young boy! I actually never noticed they changed his default expression in the later movies until this video, but it really makes a huge difference!

I always admire creators that show the entire creative process (mistakes and all). Just recently found your channel but it's already a fave. 💜

Definately the best buzz lightyear headsculpt ever, love your work!

Buzz looks like he's angry at toy mode in the first film, also the belted buzz in 2nd. For the rest of the series, he just smiles, like he's ready for action.

Finally someone put an accurate face on Buzz

On the one hand this is amazing ‘cause Buzz looks perfect and the process is really satisfying to watch… on the other hand I’m mad as heck ‘cause if I ever actually get the signature collection Buzz it’ll never look this good 😂

Wow, another home run as always Zedabyu! Though it is a bit of a bummer the wings dont work, as Geri the Cleaner once said, "He's for display only. If you handle him too much he's not gonna last." You managed to make one of the most film accurate Buzz toy ive ever seen, you even fixed the annoying black shoulders! Looking forward to the next custom!

I'm so glad this finally exists, it only took 26 years! I hate how they changed Buzz's toy mode face in Toy Story 2 and especially 3. It truly ruins the character but thank you for giving us this historic moment. I would love to learn 3D printing to the extent you know it someday, keep it up!

Sheesh, this looks absolutely phenomenal. The attention to detail is amazing and all that struggle definitely paid off.

Imagine Pixar hires this guy to do it all over again than buzz lightyear are back on the shelves this was some serious magic dude wow I'm floored by this work

YES!! You gave him the 'stern' TS1 and TS2 expression! Thank you for this! His face was changed in later films, something I found unnecessary and disappointing. I prefer the half-sneer over the full smile that he has in the third and fourth film. It's much more iconic imo. Also, I can understand the cheaper build and lack of articulations to an extent, but I'll never understand why the real toys were made with different facial expressions than the ones they have when they *do* freeze in the movies. It's almost as if Disney specifically tried not to make them look too similar. 🙄 But you did FANTASTIC on this one, wow!! Finally, Buzz looks exactly the way he should! 👏

@@keannyfournier No he didn't. He had the same mouth shape as a frozen toy in TS2 that he had in the first movie. Just look up scenes and screenshots, you'll see it was originally kept the same. The smile was only added in the third movie onward, in what I can only assume was meant as an "upgrade" of sorts.

I also do like the TS1 face because it recreates more of the expression you would have while fighting a purple villian claiming to be your father AKA Zurg

I hope Buzz Lightyear 2.0 we’ll have a working laser, expanding wings and karate chop action.

It must be satisfying to have something unique and so close to perfection for yourself. I'm the type of person who loves details, and I'd say this buzz is close to perfection.

A first generation Buzz are the best for modifications and can still be bought cheaply. I used the broken ones all the time when I worked for a childcare center. Literally repaired dozens of them. They were easy for swapping parts and repairing joints using a Phillips head screwdriver and a flat head for prying. The joints had metal and the fit was better. The wings were a common failure point due to their plastic catch system and the simple spring they used. Any way great job on the Buzz.

I'm so glad 3D printing has come a long way. Didn't like those lines 3D printing use to have and now it looks like you're printing professional factory quality stuff. Wish I could do this but don't have a 3D printer.

this video was really cool. If you ever decided to fix the lazer and wings i think a part two technical video would be pretty interesting to see.

0:53 The reason they designed the black part like that is because in the first movie when Buzzes arm fell off you can see that the black part is on the body which is why they designed it that way.

I absolutely love this as someone who was obsessed with toy story until 4 and buzz being my favorite Disney character this is awesome I might have to pick up a buzz to do this

The Toy Story Collection Buzz was a huge improvement, but it should have tipped them off that he couldn't fit in his original box properly because he couldn't put his arms down (look how much wider they had to make the box). That new head just elevates everything.

I would recommend picking up a Dremel btw Especially if you do mods like this in the future. You need a dremel to cut the holes in the clear domes for the shoulders. Though Im glad to see you took the same approach I did and just 3d printed some 😂 A dremel will also help a lot with cutting things down and sanding them too 😁

It's great seeing custom toy story toys. I have a custom woody and buzz on my shelf as well. I custom 3D printed Buzz's shoulder pads by measuring his shoulders and modeling them in tinker cad.
