I made some mistakes. YAMAHA XS750 REBUILD PART 2

While trying to restore a 1979 Yamaha XS750 I made a few mistakes. The runs on its own power and was ridden on the road for the first time in probably 20 years. This is the second part of a rebuild series, next to come is the full tear down.

Keep it going man these videos are fun and very helpful for others getting into motorcycle restoration. One of those people is actually me, i have a 77 Yamaha XS750. Very similar condition, hasn’t ran for decades and sat outside most of that time. Finally got good compression and rebuilt the carbs but the spark timing is off and I want to pull the points plate off but the bolt head is stripped. I see you turning it at 10:56 in the video. Do you remember if it was a standard right hand thread (i.e. righty tighty)? I’m about to use a bolt extractor on mines so I really have only one shot at it. Been scouring the internet for an answer and havent found anything until I saw your video. Regardless, these videos are awesome man, I wish you a successful rebuild and perhaps some fun along the way!

Can't wait for Part 3! This is almost identical to my one I owned in the early 90's. Does your one have the Decompression lever up by the throttle? Mine had electric start, and kick start. The Decompression lever had to be used while kicking it over.

Thank you for the support! It's nice to see someone enjoy it. It does not have the decomposition lever but thank goodness it has the electric start haha

@StroudandSonsCycles it takes time to build up a channel. I've been with some channels since their early beginnings, and after persistence and continuous content, they are quite big now. Keep it up the good content, you'll get there!
