I Made Some Cool Car Air Freshener Bottles!

Ok, so I had some issues with this week’s video. I couldn’t record the Who Am I? Soap Series Video because my supplies arrived too late. I decided to record this at the last minute and forgot to change the settings on my camera from recording our church service Sunday, so nothing is in focus and it’s way too bright! I couldn’t see while filming (nobody’s fault but mine) so I didn’t notice any of this until editing. Oh well.
I saw these on Nelson Interior Soapery's channel: / @nelsoninteriorsoapery . Check her out if you haven’t already. I just love her! Anyway, her video “How to make car diffusers? And how I get my branding on the lids” was the first time I”d ever seen these cute lil’ things. I found the bottles on Amazon (linked below) and the diffuser base from WSP (also linked below) They are easy to make, but a little messy. Or maybe that’s just me…y’all know how I am.
She said to use 75% diffuser base and 25% Fragrance Oil. I tried that and it seemed to work just fine. I did a little research and saw that some F.O. aren’t suitable to be used for this, so be sure and check with your supplier. I used Grape, Blueberry Cobbler, and Butt Maked from Aztec Candle Supply and Red Lipstick from Rustic Escentuals and I didn’t have a problem with any of them.
She didn’t say anything about coloring them. She used some dried flowers. I, however, wanted something a little more eye-catching. I used micas. They worked but they settle to the bottom after a while. You have to shake them periodically to mix the F.O. with the base anyway, so the mica gets mixed back in.
These bottles come with little plastic corks in them that you can remove to fill the bottle and then put back on for shipping. You Cx will have to remove the cork before use. The lids are absorbent, like a reed would be, and they soak up the mixture from the bottle swinging back and forth while driving. Or you can give them a little shake to get the cap wet, but not too much, or you risk leaking!
I chose to hang mine from the mirror in my car. You can put them where ever you’d like, but keep in mind that the oil and base may be harmful to some surfaces if there is leaking, and you don’t want children or pets to be around the mixture, either. Be sure to add all this info to your packaging if you decide to sell them.

Quick update! The base I used in this video doesn't do well with all fragrances. I've started mixing my own and the results are much better! I'm not coloring them with anything anymore, either. I don't think that color adds anything significant to the finished product. I'll make an updated video in the next few weeks. I'm still testing different formulas😜

The base I'm using is from Wholesale Supplies Plus: www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com/products/crafters-choice-reed-diffuser-base.aspx I don't have any complaints about it other than it does have a somewhat strong odor. My Fragrances mask it pretty well. The mica did just fine, however, it sinks to the bottom of the bottle after a while, but a quick shake of the bottle mixes it back in. The swirls are pretty to look at:) I discovered that not all Fragrance Oils are suitable to be used. Some are strong and long-lasting, while others are very weak. Just something to keep in mind. You can’t really use the percentage that you told us to use because certain oil sense has stronger sense through you to figure out how much you have to put in and play around with it and they do sell the ones that goes on your air vents

You are correct that certain scents are stronger than others. When checking the IFRA guidelines for the fragrances I used, they all had "No Restriction" or "100%" for the category that oil diffusers would fall under. I encourage everyone to do their own testing because some fragrances are overpowering. I personally like powerful scents, but you may not. As far as fragrances on air vents, I'm not sure what you're referencing. The base I bought from WSP, but the majority of my fragrance oil comes from Aztec. Aztec isn't going to tell me which of their fragrances will work with WSP's oil diffuser base, so all of my fragrances have to be checked. Thank you for reaching out and for watching!😜

Sure thing! Mica refers to a mineral ingredient that is ground into fine powder and adds color to beauty products such as eyeshadows, blushes, and foundations. It is known for providing a shimmery or pearlescent effect, adding a subtle sparkle to makeup products. You can usually buy mica from soap supply companies. Absolutely! Mica is expensive in my opinion, and not worth using in the car oil diffusers. I tried using candle dye, which worked great, but it's really concentrated. I had to dip a toothpick in the dye and use that to color a small amount of the diffuser solution, lol. I'm not sure what the "correct" size would be🤔 Mine are about 2" x 3", printed on cardstock front and back. I include clear instructions, volume, product name, scent, website, business info, and a hefty warning. I hope this helps😁 Thanks for watching💖

Why do you need to use the Reid diffuser base? Thats to thin out the oil so it will go up the Reid.

Yes, the fragrance oils are generally too thick/heavy to make it up the stick. You don't have to use a pre-made base, though. You can make your own. Hopefully, I can get a video made on that in a week or so. Thanks for watching! 😁
Do the pigments dye the lids of the bottles?

Mine hits my windshield like when I go over a bump it kind of bounces up and hits my windshield so you gotta be careful with that

@@CherryRockCreations yes mine done when I went over like a speed bump and I was like oh no I’ll hurry up and grab it cause I don’t want to crack my windshield, so I was trying to see you know maybe like you just mention shorten the string on it that way it won’t go and bounce off the windshield because they ain’t I just pay my windshield on my foot. I’m not trying to replace it again but thank you for applying back.

Like another thing I pull out my driveway every morning. I have that lip from my driveway to the regular road in front of my house so every morning it hits my windshield so I’m just giving you guys a heads up cause I don’t want nobody windshield to get cracked.
I used these bottles and when you tilt it up side for a hot sec liquid comes out the Holes where the rope is I don’t like these bottles not sure if anybody else has this problem, but I will not be using them anymore

I don't blame you for not wanting to use them. I'd feel the same way, but I haven't had that happen with mine. 🤔 I do know that when you tilt/shake them, it should be really fast. Otherwise, there is too much saturation, and they are more likely to leak❤️
