I MADE POMPOMS "WRONG" AND YA'LL ROASTED ME - Wonderland X Showtime Miku Cosplay Build

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

AHHH HAVE GRACE WITH ME LOL
This is my FIRST long form video after amassing a following here, AND I'M SO SCARED!!!
I'm definitely testing out the waters here, and any constructive criticism is absolutely welcomed. I want to improve for future videos, and hopefully attempt making longer content as well.

I love that you found a way to make pompoms look so cartoonish; real pompoms don’t look nearly as accurate

I bet the syrofoam poms are much lighter than balls of yarn. I think it worked out well, especially for the application with the hair. I never did like yarn pompoms until I learned you could make them fluffy by using a wire pet brush to separate the fibers.

After detangling my $30 5ft miku wig and hurting my hands from it 🤦‍♀️ I can see how cutting that yarn could hurt your hands. Also one of the beauty of cosplay is to find methods to do things. And if you dont have time YOU WANT to know other methods Also your drilled pompom hairpiece set up is exactly what is going to work for my miku design. So thank you it was a helpful detail!

OMG so true!! I'm a firm believer that there aren't actually incorrect ways of doing anything, just choices 😍

While I do think what you ended up doing was still the best choice, if you ever make pom-poms again and need them to be fluffy, the way to do that is by brushing them out with a wire pet brush! It works best with acrylic yarn. They also become a lot lighter that way. You can get that thick chunky yarn which is already much looser so you wouldn’t need to brush it as much, or use as much yarn.

I use this method to make bunny tails for plushies!

The styrofoam poms were EXACTLY how I would've done it! The only difference is I maybe would've used flocking. But getting flocking in the shades needed could be difficult. So using tiny bits of yarn is a great idea!

I honestly get using balls + flocking over pompoms. Even if a traditional pompom was made with more layers of yarn, trimming it to be actually a sphere would take YEARS

So clever! I def like the look of these much better than actual pom-poms. They fit the cosplay perfectly!

You can mix the mod podge in with the paint, to coat and seal it all at once! This is a trick I see often in the miniatures/model making community

i am confused with people hatiing how you made the pompoms. You explained in the video how you tried everything and the only way you found that would be better was that way, and it looks great!

I LOVE this new pompom method. We need to find a better way to dice up the yarn but other than that much better than wrapping yarn around your hands for hours.

Honestly they look more accurate this way and so much easier to care for the costume with them being detachable. We all know pompoms get destroyed so fast 🫠 thanks to the haters for boosting the video tho 😂

They look amazing!! I'm proud of you for finding your own way to make them! there's no right way to cosplay. Just because everyone else does it one way doesn't mean you have to! 😊

Its funny how others think that their suggestions are better but not knowing how much the actuall cost lol... but STILL its a great discovery when you found a cheaper way to make it. 💕

There are no wrong ways of doing something for you. And honestly sometimes people who are not crafty are perfect for problem solving cuz they don't know " the rules" and just ignore them making it 100 times easier.

I swear by styrofoam balls -- I used them as the base for the buns on my Sailor Moon wig, and it gives it such a cute, uniform shape that has (like you mentioned) STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY!! Love this tutorial, and can't wait to see more long-form videos from you!

Why can't you just exist on the internet without being criticized to hell and back??? The heck! What flops! I thought your pompom situation was super cool. And having judged masquerades, it would have won some serious points for ingenuity.

Yarn pompoms would be great but that would be so so so so so much yarn XD I’m not shure how much it would cost but way more than 20$ DX Either way awesome job, mom mega smart moment

you could have also gotten a similar effect by getting a cheap short haired faux fur and sewing them into balls. also for the thigh situation go with elastic fabric so it's not too tight that it's uncomfortable.
