Exactly he smiled said he enjoyed it and wants to buy a queen shirt I keep explaining not everyone analyzes music the same. We are related but. Not the same person . The funny thing is many people told me to bring my brother in videos and when I do they talk about him like that I don’t even want him to see some of the comments because they were so cruel. It sucks to see this because he really enjoyed it and he likes making videos with me but the way people talk about him makes me not want to introduce anymore of my family.

The person who followed Queen was the legendary David Bowie who actually wrote Under Pressure with Freddie and Queen. Probably nobody BUT David Bowie could have followed this performance. It has been said that as Queen was on their way backstage and David was coming on to the stage. He turned to the Queen band members and said "You Bastards!" All in fun, though, David Bowie did a killer set as well and kept the crowd going. Bowie was a huge talent in his own right.

Your Brother gets it - Freddie proposed the name Queen because it was strong and regal sounding [too many people think they were gay - even Freddie was bi not gay] and the others liked it then Freddie designed the Royal looking Crest which is their trademark. The main issue with Freddie's voice on the day was that it cracked a little on some of the more difficult notes and he couldn't hold some notes as long as usual - but with other performers sounding the same or worse when live you don't notice until you see Queen in concert when Freddie wasn't sick! That is the mark of a true champion right there.

@@nanner3200 Wrong. The movie was BS in that he didn't know he had the virus before Live Aid but he WAS starting to get the first signs of HIV around this time. More throat infections and other symptoms. At that time, those symptoms didn't show themselves until around 5 years after originally contracting HIV. Meaning Freddie caught it around 1979-81. He started having symptoms in the mid 80s and had a test but the tests were new and unreliable so it could have been a false positive so he still had some hope that he was negative. But by 1987 it was confirmed that the HIV had developed into full blown AIDS. So although he didn't know for sure he had HIV during Live Aid, he sure as hell knew he could have been infected as he's already lost some previous lovers to it, therefore he stood a high chance of having it too. The movie completely F'ed the timeline up though.

The only evidence we need is the fact that he is now regarded as to greatest legend in rock music ever, more than Lennon, Hendrix, Morrison, Cobain, etc, etc...I put this down to his talent with singing and playing piano + writing + charism that reaches across the decades. Freddie was nothing but love and positivity.

I'm a trans lesbian, I was 15 when Freddie died and he was my childhood hero, I am fully aware of the icon he is to the LGBT community. Freddie came up with the name. According to Brian, he & Roger weren’t too keen, but they kept hashing it out & he realized that If we’re all debating it, there must be something to it. Freddie liked all the different connotations that the name conjures up. Freddie also created their crest. A Phoenix rising above the 4 astrological signs of each band member. Of course it’s all topped off with a crown. Also not sure if you realize Brian & Freddie came back later fir an encore. “Is this the world we created”. Simply amazing. Freddie, Brian & a 12 string.

They were all college level graduates but not in music and played multiple instruments and all wrote #1 songs and are in the hall of fame. Freddie Mercury has passed in 1991. Brian May is Dr. Brian May and an astrophysicist and plays lead guitar and keyboard and piano.. Roger Taylor is the drummer but also graduated with a degree in biology and plays guitar. John Deacon plays Bass and keyboard and drums. He has retired but has a degree in electronics.

This is the best performance ever!!! And did you know that Freddie said in a later interview that singing at Live Aid, because of his throat infection, was like swallow very sharp pieces of broken glass. And he knew that, his doctor told him not to sing, but he didn't listen, he went on and gave the fans and the non-fans the best performance he could give. This band did everything to keep their fans happy. How many artists today do you think would do that? For real??? Only the King Freddie Mercury 👑👑👑👑

You can tell towards the end that he was struggling with the throat infection. On the last line of we are the champions he drops out for a few words and Roger carries the song. Then he and Brian came back later in the evening and sang "Is This the World We Created", just Freddie and Brian's guitar.

I am lucky enough and old enough to have seen Queen live and no matter how much high energy you think they brought to the stage you should really times that by a thousand. If you've not done it yet you should listen/react to "Another One Bites the Dust" which will throw you and you will have definitely heard their soundtrack to the film Highlander especially "Who Wants to Live Forever". Also not sure if you've done "Barcelona" yet. Which is a duet with Montserrat Caballe as that will make you love Freddie even more.

Queen stole the show at Live Aid. Freddie was amazing but he had been told to to sing by his throat doctor. As gain, they were fantastic.♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

Yep... It's one of if the most beautiful moments ever!! Freddie and Brian had the whole world in their hands and brought us all together, even if just for that brief moment...

I remember watching this live. It was broadcast around the world raising money for the African famine. It was a whole day event.

Freddie Mercury wrote Queens hit song "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" - as his tribute to Elvis Presley- wrote it in 10 minutes in his bathtub... and Queen put it on their Album, made it a single without any MJ involvement. "Another One Bites The Dust" is the song Queen's Bassist John Deacon wrote, which MJ insisted, Queen should make a single. To this day, both songs are in Queen's list of big hits.

I was 26 when live aid happened and i missed out on tickets i wish i had been there. that stadium is Wembley Football (soccer) stadium our National Stadium in London. really enjoyed the review.

I remember that day. I was on my way to SF in a ride-share work van, and it came on a local radio station we were listening to. The whole van just went so silent and normally we were all a talkative but it was still and somber for the rest of the ride.

Legendary is when your song gets 60,000+ people spontaneously singing to an empty stage while waiting for a Greenday concert to start. 50 years after it first became a hit. Somebody to love Montreal and video for another one bites the dust and he will be hooked.

One of the newspapers the following day was talking about how Queen dominated the show and they said, "Freddie Mercury commanded the stage, holding his funny microphone in one hand, the world in the other." Trey is 100% correct. From the moment they came out Freddie was all over that stage. Queen was used to playing to even bigger audiences than that. The other bands did not use much of the stage at all. That just showed the difference between the caliber of acts.

I remember watching this live, I was 19. Getting old doesn't feel as bad if you witnessed things like this when you were young. It wasn't to long before this concert that Freddie found out he was HIV positive. Rest in peace brother.

I was backstage at that concert in 1985. I was working for a great singer songwriter, called Cat Stevens [aka Yusuf Islam] and he was supposed to go on between Elton John and Wham but Elton overran by 15 minutes, so Cat Stevens agreed to drop his section from the set and Wham was cut, with Elton and George Michael doing a duet instead. It was a great concert and, personally, I'm glad I was backstage in comfort with Bowie, Bono and others, rather than being in that crowd.

Best part of that show is when he thanks the fans for his fame and fortune and they acknowledge it. I love the few seconds of complete intimacy with the crowd. He has the attention of every single last person there from the second he steps on stage

Great reaction! Some important context. There was a major famine in Africa that hit Ethiopia particularly hard during the early and mid-80s. Mass amounts of people (children) were literally starving to death. The music industry responded in a big way. First, in 1984 European musicians formed a huge supergroup under the name Bandaid and recorded Do they Know its Christmas to raise money for the famine relief effort. You probably know it. It’s still played at Christmas every year. Then, the following year in 1985, all of the major American stars recorded We are the World as USA for Africa. These two songs raised a tremendous amount of money. An Irish musician named Bob Geldof followed this by putting together a simultaneous concert in London and Philadelphia with dozens of major music stars which was broadcast around the world live. That is what Live Aid was all about. It was a massive event treated as a telethon so you could call in to donate as the concerts went on all day and into the night. I was 12 years old and I will never forget watching this and knowing how important it was. There were so many good performances (a few not so good) but there is a reason why we all remember Queen’s performance so we’ll and why it has breathed new life all these years later. Simply, they stole the show. I don’t know if it’s true, but in the movie about Freddie’s life, they show the phone lines lighting up with donations during Queen’s performance. I rented a VCR from Rent-A-Center just so I could tape Live Aid off air. It took place in the UK and the US and lasted all day. Someday you should watch the whole thing. It was awesome. U2's set was pretty amazing also. And Phil Collins performed in London, then took the Concorde to the USA and played there on the same day. And Live Aid wasn't just a concert: It raised more than $125 million to fight famine in Etheopia.

Lucky enough to see these cats about 5 years before this. I was 18. To this day, one of the best concert I've ever been to.

This was the best concert I've ever seen in my life, I'm in the crowd, so many people, so much fun... Best ever.....so many memories.

I wasn't a Queen fan at all, but after that day..I was lol! The world for Africa! I remember it was very hot that day in Wembley Stadium July 13th 1985 but it was worth it, best day in my life! 👏👏🇳🇱

Talking about Freddie's strength on this day... His doctor had recommended he not perform but, Freddie knew this was to important not to. Later that night, he and Brian May (Queen's guitarist) came back to do an acoustic number.

All four could sing! Freddie played both piano and guitar. All 4 added to the vocals. Freddie wrote and arranged most of their hits. They were incredible.

Thank you two as young as you are, for appreciating Queen, they are one of my favorite bands. They had an endless amount of hits, and Freddy Mercury had one of the best voices ever. GOD bless him. R.I.P. Freddie.

I came from NYC to see Freddie n Roger n Brian and Queen at Live Aid I was 17. I cannot tell you what it was like but Amazing to have been there. I had seen Queen on their first US Tour at MSG in NYC and in also in Canada. That was the best show I have ever seen in my life, and I have seen Some of the best musician ever, this was hands down the best I have ever seen live in my life. But this was EPIC RIP Freddie

At the begining it looks like it's not his thing but then his head starts bobbin as the Queen effect starts and when he heard we are the champions 😂😂 I think the band name was Freddies idea becuase he was gay and at the time it was a thing that some gay men refered to themselves as queens pretty sure the rest of the band are straight hence the s was dropped...another great reaction👍😘

Ya you did! The Legend! No person has EVER been able to capture an audience like Freddie and never will.

No stage was too big for Freddie. This may be the greatest performance of all time, any time, any place.

Lovely to see you react to Queen in the company of your brother. Really enjoyed seeing this. Looks like you get on really well. Because they only had a twenty minute slot they had to pick their songs carefully .... and weren't they great!
