I MADE IT! Flight Across the Atlantic Westbound is Complete | Episode 8

On this episode, bad weather, a stressful approach, thunderstorms, strong headwinds, and turbulence. We fly from Schefferville to Sept-Iles to spend the night, followed by the dash to the finish line in Greenbank, Ontario with a stop at La Tuque.
In this video series I hope to offer a glimpse into the challenges of preparing and actually flying across the Atlantic ocean, navigating over the remote northern landscapes and vast stretches of water, and experiencing breathtaking views that only a small plane can offer. Join me as I share insights into the planning and execution of this flight, including the joys and challenges faced along the way. Whether you're a seasoned pilot, an aviation enthusiast, or someone who dreams of adventure, this video series offers something for everyone. I hope you enjoy this journey as much as I did.

If memory serves me right, last year Oshkosh got a couple of lines of heavy thunderstorms on Wednesday. Flying was hot, turbulent, and with lots of deviations that day.

Yes, it was a bit stormy that day. But we arrived after. All in the next episode 🙂

I had a similar issue when I pushed a button that muted my comms. Ya did the right thing…fly the plane By the way, what brand bicycle do you have? Think I want one

The bike is a Curtis folding bike. 20 inch wheel. Pretty generic, I think they sell similar ones under different brands. Inexpensive but reliable.

How do you find the lateral visibility in the cardinal? Seems like the A pillar is right there in your face and would obstruct your view at 10 o’clock. Also, how do you find the smoothness of the IO360 as I’ve heard it’s not as smooth as other engines. I’ve been contemplating a cardinal, RG with a tornado alley turbo normalizer.

I really can't complain about the visibility from the cardinal, that's one of its benefits, at least having no struts is one of the main reasons I chose it. For the smoothness, yes, I can't say it's the smoothest, but really not a factor. I think a lot depends on if your prop is well balanced
