I made fused glass granny squares! Fused glass dots projects | How to use glass scraps

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this week's Fused Glass Friday video I attempt to create a granny square inspired design. I somewhat succeeded, and definitely learned a lot!
All glass is COE 96 compatible and fired using the auto settings in my Skutt kiln, unless otherwise stated.

I would definitely put clear underneath. I loved this, totally reminded me of my grandma. She crocheted these all the time!

I would put it on a clear base so you can still see through it but all that hard work doesn’t get ruined because it is so delicate.

It's a darling idea. Thank you for taking us on your thought process journey. We all learn something when we see the the ups and downs of any project.

It's such a beautiful colorful piece. I think I would fire on a base glass to add strength and slump in a nice dish.

I would try sifting some clear powder frit over the top to hold it together and re- fire on a tac fuse.

Regardless of what you do I appreciate you including the “fail”. Someone else might just delete that and start over but I love learning regardless of the outcome. This project reminds me of my grandma too.

I have two ideas. One , I would cut a piece of clear and fire it on top. Or you could take clear frit and sprinkle in all the open spaces. I would contour fuse.

I would have put something clear on top like very fine clear frit... Or put everything onto a clear square so that it has something solid and maybe do a tack fuse. I'm new but have viewed other stained glass creators... That was always something they do to make a panel.😊

Lovely! Perhaps firing to a clear glass back would result in the desired effect?

Back it with clear glass. That way you still have the pattern in tack.😊

I would fuse it on a clear piece of glass to maintain your pattern

I love the fact that there is no base glass. I think you should just refire it, perhaps a bit hotter or a bit longer. Great concept and design.

What about clear dots in between?

I would refire but not add another layer. Maybe go a tad higher in temp also to add more strength. Maybe 1385 and hold for 20min. This is a great idea. I can see this being a large wall piece!!
