    Fun fact: Your videos are the reason why I got into 3D printing. One day I got recommended a video of yours on Tik Tok showing your Iron Man suit (the blue one.) I clicked on your profile to see how you did that, and that was when I learned about 3D printers. I did a lot of research from there and found that I can make anything I want and not just out of cardboard, as I usually did. I started freaking out when I was the final question on the Q and A video and that was when I decided to get my first 3D printer. I am currently making an Iron Man suit but I wanna say thank you for making videos!

    My 4 year old saw one of your posts on instagram when I was scrolling through. Ever since then, he’s been so intrigued and inspired by you. We now have been watching engineering videos (As he asks for) each night. For the last couple of weeks we’ve been watching the Hacksmith before bed and then tonight we thought we’d check out this video of yours. Half way through he says: “Emily is a great engineer”. Long story short - thank you for inspiring lil ones like my son to explore and learn things like what you and other engineers are capable of. Love your creativity and way of expressing your ideas and thoughts! 😄

    helmet turned out great - a tip for ya , the visor you can order a Hobart 770580 Face Shield Replacement Lens or any similar brand or make - its a tinted welding shield - they cut easy with heavy scissors and are veryy flexible - awesome job on the helmet !!!!!

  • @AgentWest
    @AgentWest6 ай бұрын

    Simple solution to visor cracking: use polycarbonate (lexan) instead of acrylic. Acrylic will crack if you look at it wrong. Polycarb is more flexible. Downside of lexan is that it scratches rather easily. As for tinting, position the plastic on a table, and tape it down along one edge. Overlay the tint with backing still on it and tape it to the table as well. Flip tint sheet over, peel its backing. Mist both your clear piece and tint with soapy water. Gently lay tint over the plastic piece while squeegeeing water/air from between the two. Since both pieces are taped to a table you'll be able to use both hands for the process and it will go much easier.

    I really liked this video. Despite your troubles with the visor, you were pretty lucky regarding the paint. Mixing brands is always a gamble, and painting outside really surprised me. I'm in Toronto and although it's -7°c which is manageable, i couldn't imagine painting. But you pulled it off, and it looks fantastic.

    This is what I used for my Mando helmet. They are like 25 bucks on Amazon. I assume they are that high due to a lot of people buying them for cosplay or the fact they are legit welding lenses. Either way, they come pre tinted and mold easy with a heat gun.

    Mix your own rustoleum colors next time. You can print/buy a female/female adaptor, freeze the 1/2 empty can you’d like to fill with paint, boil water and warm up the donor can, and depress both into the adaptor. With the cold cans lower pressure allows it to accept the other cans contents. It’ll stop hissing when the cold can is full.

    Try to get poly carbonate or petg sheets instead of acrylic. Much easier to bend and form than acrylic.

  • @daniel56005600
    @daniel560056002 жыл бұрын

    I don't know if somebody commented about that topic already but I think you used acrylic glass and that's very brittle and creates very sharp edges when it breaks. You should use poly carbonate. It doesn't break and is pretty scratch resistant. All modern headlights on cars are made of this. You can get sheets in all sizes on eBay or Amazon. Great work btw crap on building and greetings from Bavaria.

    Epic make!! Future reference maybe use a hot air gun/blow gun for the visors/acrylic parts, it's easier to manipulate using a hot air gun, anyway that's what I use

    You could use a safety visor, as many do for Mandalorian helmets. You can use a clear one and tint it, or the green one. Since there's no light inside the helmet, the green visor will look black.
