This actually means a lot to me on a personal level. My girlfriend recently had cancer called hodgkins lymphoma. So it really does mean a lot people do this stuff to help others with it. Thankfully she has recently beaten cancer and is about 4 months into remission.

Your methods and technique's amount of "correctness" don't even matter. The Blades of Chaos are perfect in their imperfection. just as you are doing this for your friend. I had a friend like you do and I lost him oh so long ago. This made me cry for the love you have shown your best friend as well as the memory of mine long past. I would love the blades for that reason alone even nowt knowing what they are or the game/story they come from (which I promise you, I most certainly do). IMO that concept is, God of War at it's purest. He was not perfect, the blades were not perfect but when they worked together it was perfection. Just as best friends are.
