Hello! I don't comment on KZread videos often, but I do have to share; about a month after your Wicker Devil video, I saw it and was inspired to try a similar challenge for myself. I made a horror game with a random amount of time (3 days) with two randomly generated mechanics (sanity and body temperature) and it was probably the most fun and successful experience in my short game dev career at the time. Thank you for being such an inspiration!

First thing I thought when you got to the part of "making it a horror game" is kind of like the narrative that you're in this creature's realm, and every level, you get deeper into its domain. So the first level looks very normal with it just being night, but by the time you get to level 5, the lighting is all red, the wall textures are decayed/industrial/eldritch, and in the distance you can see horrible hallucinations.

I always thought parkour and horror would make a good combo sense so many horror games build there mechanics around running and hiding. So why not make movement more involved.

Also I absolutely love how you used the leg tracking glitch in your favor for that floating effect on the monster, some of my favorite features or details in games are the ones I find out later in commentaries came from some accident or technical error that made them say "oh wait, this is actually kinda sick", great use of lateral thinking!

You could add an endless mode, basically, the terrain changes every checkpoint with there being lore stuff

watching a video of yours for the first time, this is such quality content, the little skits and bits and "he's always watching" followed by him dancing around is just so funny

dude, love the video, really entertaining, and continues my dream to become a game dev, i think it would be great if you could do a video where you take your time making a game because it would be really satisfying to see a game made with your full potential. keep up the good work

That's literally I'm On Observation Duty 3.

3 simple critiques that would make this game MUCH scarier 1 - Make the game darker. Its "night time" but still extremely bright?? Making the game genuinely dark where you can only really see what youre flashlight is showing will have the added effects of making the player more on edge, as well as making the parkour harder and causing them to lock in/focus on the game more which = being more scared when they suddenly get caught. 2 - Pacing/speed, atm the movement is SO slow. genuinely its hard to feel tense when everything in the game moves at a snails pace, when vaulting or smth add ways give the sense of genuinely running for your life. extend the fov to give the player tension. Also when you turn around and see a super slow AI running at you its not really that scary. If you speed up the pace you and the monster run it would help tremendously. 3 - fix the monsters face. that face is comically not scary. Do the analog horror thing and copy an uncanny face off of google and past it onto the monster. Make the face look just uncanny enough to be extremely disturbing, that plus the added darkness would make the monster GENUINELY terrifying. Other than that, fun concept and Im impressed with what you did in just 24 hrs!!

Here is the thing: Most horror games end with a parkour/monster chase, take the first 2 chapters of Poppy Playtime, even ban ban kinda fits (the white thingy and the green dude chasing you) if you consider it, but your's is original because it is the FIRST fully parkour-based horror game. (technically because dying light still has this 'killing monsters' vibe and yours is just a run-away game). So technically this IS an original game genre.

Don't be too hard on yourself, level design is incredibly hard, and is usually given to someone as an entire job in game development, in fact, many people depending on the size of the game.

Technically if horror was its own genre, and you had to click the screen to get a jump scare that would be a point and click game and horror.

Yo! If one day you think of updating this game, i have an idea! So basicaly for the desing of the levels, make it so it looks like you're on the top of a city,jump from building to building or under construction buildings and make the finish(the door) as an elevator and inside the elevator, make a panel that will show your time,record,death,continue to next level etc (also make the menu, instead of doors,elevators)
