My heart sank when you explained how the little lights in the sub had been destroyed during the great Resin-Fimo war of 2021. I feel like the darker colours on the sub honestly could've worked pretty well paired with a bit of lighting. I'm usually more of a lurk & like kind of person, but wanted to take a moment to comment and say that I find your videos hugely entertaining. I've never really built anything other than Gunpla, so the way you go about creating these pieces from scratch is insanely impressive in my book. Honestly, the perfect kind of content to wind down to after a day at work IMO.

Darker sub would have worked, if it wasn't for that pesky film!! I think the only solution is to find a way to donate it to Bill Murray, who will appreciate it more like this than if a total success.

I absolutely enjoyed the ride. It's refreshing to see the honesty in art and that sometimes things just don't work out the way you planned. As an artist myself I'm always feeling the pressure to have the perfect outcome in everything I create. The pressure is overwhelming at times. Good or bad... I love your videos!

It makes me feel better seeing that even the folk who are really really good at stuff with tons of experience still make mistakes or have things just not work out first time. When you're new or even sorta experienced with a medium it can sometimes feel like everyone gets it perfect except you.

I agree! I loved that despite the mess up he kept it all honest and still worked with it! Despite the sub dying the shark is awesome! Hell... Maybe the shark won and the sub got beaten to hell by the shark!
I ugly-cackled at "3cms' worth of inches of resin". I know it wasn't what you'd intended, but I really loved watching you solve/lessen the problem with the submarine. Thanks for sharing it anyway - it's really appreciated in a world where, as you said, lots of creators seem never to make any mistakes! I always learn something with your videos, and your sense of humour always cracks me up (no pun intended). Take it easy, and I look forward to whatever you've got planned next.

The resin bubble leak could be used for some kind of underwater / space explosion? It might be hard to reproduce on purpose, but could be a fun experiment! I love your stuff, keep it up!
All I'm going to say, is that from one resin artist to another, It's both sad and comforting that resin mistakes are just as common and part of any resin-art-making process for every artist as it is for me. And from an ex-pre-teen girl who is now in her mid-twenties, you have successfully done what every teenage girl has done at least once in her life: painted leopard print on something. Although, for us, it was usually on our nails and it also usually came out lookin' pretty meh the first few times around.

Wow, I clicked on this video thinking it contained some impressive shark related art...and was pleasantly surprised that is what I found. Resin can be a bitch, but that doesn't mean we have to be. Absolutely love your content and keep up the impressive shark related art!
Thanks for bringing us along for wins as well as loses. Seeing how quickly things can go wrong really underlines how awesome it is when things go right. It gives a better since of fulfillment and value when you can see the whole process. Thanks!
Honestly, I really appreciate you showing that everything isn’t perfect. It’s encouraging for when I try to do something and it doesn’t turn out exactly the way I wanted it to. Btw I found your channel very recently and have been obsessed. Thanks!
Just wanna say you're gonna blow up soon, keep up this incredibly hard work
Nice video mate and good info on the clay accident 👍 I didn't know this could happen 😳. Still a successful video though. One of my most successful videos was when I had a failure in the supports I used for a submarine , so viewers always appreciate honesty.

Ya! I was certainly not expecting it to go so terribly wrong (I even planned for the usual issues with a too thick pour)
I LOVE that you share your failures as well as successes. Everytime my husband bugs me to make something out of resin, I'm going to make him watch this. ❤️
It's always great to see another artist's problem solving process. And thank you for sharing the lesson about clay curing temps! I don't do a lot of clay sculpting, but if I need to mix clay and resin I will keep this video in mind.
i think i speak for everyone when i say we all love your work and the care you put into it even if something goes wrong and damaged the final product :)
You know what? The resin cracking looks like the little submarine got crunched with water pressure! Even still, the real looker is the shark, so even if it didn’t end up how you’d like it, I’d still call this a pretty darn good success! :D
I love you're tiny nerdy things you are so aspireing. I always look forward to you're videos.
Thank you for sharing your projects even when they dont turn out as intended! Its always so reassuring to see that even incredible artists and creators like you can make mistakes and have things go awry.
I love how honest these videos are about the process, mistakes, it’s really helpful to young artists. To know something this great had some small bumps in the road and that small mistakes are a sign to keep going.
As a fellow artist this was nice to see. Bumps in the road are part of art, and it's sometimes heartbreaking to spend so much time on something that doesn't come out how you want it to. Thanks for the honesty. I wish you much better luck on your next projects.
Honestly I think it looks amazing even with the mistakes. It looks more like the sub has been down under the water for a long time or maybe they're in deep water where the light wouldn't hit it the same, resulting in a much darker look to the whole thing. Also, shark looks epic, and even the acrylic rod looks a bit more like a light and the bubbles add to the movement. Even if it wasn't intentional, I like it, it looks great!
This video is honestly so inspiring. As an artist, I tend to panic if even one little thing is out of place in my drawings, but this video reminds me that it's ok to fail sometimes.
Preferably, I like the mistake. The submarine having the lights not work and bubbles around it have me imagine the submarine losing power or having a hole blown threw it, topped of with a giant shark making things even worse for the people in the submarine. I think it's a great build as always! :D
I very much prefer built videos that include all the small (and big) screw-ups. Perfection is nice and all, but you can learn so much more from mistakes. Also, it makes the maker and their craft much more relatable.
honestly, thank you so much for posting videos of "failed" projects. I can't express how much I appreciate it both as an entertaining-as-hell video and as a reminder that no one is perfect (because I'm usually pretty hard on myself). Even my crafting heroes have bad days!
THANK YOU from the bottom of this creator's heart for showing your mistakes. Social media land is great for showing successes; failures, not so much. And even with the mistakes, it looks pretty fantastic. Well done, sir!
This video was relatable and down to earth. It’s important to acknowledge that people make mistakes in art all the time.
For what it’s worth, I think I actually like the broken feel of the submarine better than if it wasn’t. Makes it feel like the submarine sank deep enough that we then see the damn scary shark! Cant wait to see what you do for next week!!
Adam your videos are so amazing, even though the final product wasn't what you pictured it was still super entertaining to watch you build it and your commentary throughout the video is, as always A+! Now for a random question: what's your favorite mythological animal?
Seeing you continue after a mistake and still creating an awesome sculpture is inspiring.
It reassures me as an artist to know that even the pros mess up sometimes! I still love this sculpture, thankyou for posting this even though it wasn't perfect! Love your videos!
I appreciate putting mistakes up for us to see, as a crafter it is always encouraging to see that everyone has a whoops moments once in awhile
This is definitely worth a redo! Everything looked fantastic, and I'd love to see it sans burns and bubbles. Great movie and great talent, Adam!
I enjoyed this video as much as any of your others. I dont watch for the glamour shots, I watch for your hilarious commentary. Thank you for entertaining us all!
That conversation to inches was super helpful. Thank you 😅
Oooh, that tip about making sure the clay can withstand the internal temps of thick resin pours is very helpful. Thank you for that.
Honestly, it gave so Much caracter to the scene. It looks like the submarine blew up trying to escape the shark. Good work keep it up !
I'm glad you showed us this video, mistakes included. It reminds other artists that we're not the only ones who make big mistakes, and that it's just part of being an artist
Yeah I actually think it's a good thing that you show problems that you experience with these projects. 1. All of us are going to run into issues like this when we create things. It's nice to see that we are not alone. 2. You make the process of building so entertaining and interesting that it's great just to see that. Journey vs destination, or something. Great video, keep it up! And keep showing those sweet sweet mistakes
Thanks so much for uploading this! You're right, other artists rarely draw attention to when their art doesn't turn out right. It's very comforting to know for the less artistically inclined among us that not every attempt is instant perfection. Keep up the great work! For what it's worth, I think the shark came out beautifully
I'm super grateful you posted this ♡ For one thing, "The Life Aquatic" exists in my mind as, "that very strange movie my mom loved and I never understood because in retrospect I was too young to appreciate it", so the reminder that it exists was great. And like you said, it's interesting to see a project not quite come together as hoped for. Life's full of moments like that, and they're worth remembering, too. And even if the end result wasn't quite what you wanted, that adorable tiny sub is still preserved in video!!
I love your glass half-full commentary, especially around your mistakes. :) Now you have a shark resin diorama with story and character. Not easy! Love it!
That resin implosion turned it from art inspired by Life Aquatic to art imitating life.
I love when you make stuff with resin in your videos, it's so satisfying to watch and has such a calming vibe to it, I don't even know why. But thank you
I appreciate you showing the fails as well, I feel it makes you more credible as an artist. You inspire me so much so thank you for everything you do!!!
Re-watching this on a rainy Monday as this was the first ever NotB video I watched and a year or so on it still makes me happy to see a notification that a new video is published. here's to more fun and mishaps to come.
This was so cool. I honestly find the realistic (read:flawed) videos about crafts and art far more interesting than the perfect ones. I feel like I learn more from videos like this. Also the humor is always good regardless. Thanks for sharing it!
Well done, and THANK YOU for showing the difficulties in crafting!
You've made King Shark, and you've made Jaguar Shark, now can you make King Jaguar Shark?
Your voice is so calming I can only fall asleep to your videos
I love that you took us through the journey with you. Made it all the better.
i can see how much time, effort, and skill went into this and i'm sorry to see it didn't turn out the way you wanted. it's very cool of you to show your process anyway. a lot of art is trial and error! i still think your sculpting of the shark especially was really impressive. i'm really enjoying your channel so far :-)
The efficiency and proficiency with which you made that shark was intimidating
I think the bubbles made it look even better lol
Thank you for not hiding that things can sometimes go wrong. Awesome video even with "mistakes"
Love the honesty, love the modesty - love the talent. For future reference, Adam, many sharks have beautiful, deep ultramarine eyes, in contrast to Quint's description of 'lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll's eye'
I like you left it. Failing is part of art, of life. And it's OK. I thoroughly enjoyed the ride😊❤️
I really enjoy everything about your videos & I've found myself looking forward to them. Imagine that. 2 things 1. Thank you for giving this ignorant American the measurement conversion. B. Wonderful job capturing the jaguar sharks magnificence. 3. So sorry about the tragic finish/ kudos to you showing the capability to make a mistake & nice fix
I'm impressed by everything you do but the bendy straw stir bit is a stroke of genius
great job, life aquatic is no-doubt my favourite movie.
That looks honestly awesome
THANK YOU for sharing this, it is a reminder that we all stuff up, but that we can still learn from them and still create excellent content from them too!
I enjoy your honesty! Makes you seem genuine :))
Still looks amazing, glad to have you as part of my fav resin diorama chanels
Awesome, well done, thanks for showing the full works 👍
i think the tiny bubbles look better because it gives the idea that the shark hit the submarine and the submarine cracked somewhere and the air from the inside of the submarine is escaping, creating bubbles...most sharks actually hit their prey to stun them before attacking, so the sharks have a greater chance of actually getting their prey, so it doesn't get loose from the sharks grip.😍🥰
That’s crazy!!!! The perfect storm of ingredients!
I enjoyed the ride and 100% respect and appreciate your real authenticity
I love your narration
i’m a big fan of the mostly resin builds! i love this one!!!
Even your mistakes are awesome and narration is AWLAYS the the best of them all!
Love your narration, and especially the Calvin & Hobbes references. Thanks for sharing this even though it didn’t go exactly to plan. 👍
I've found you super recently but you've become one of my top favorite KZreadrs! Even your less successful pieces are a joy to watch.
I know the feeling so well when I spend so many hours creating something and then comes that nervous resin part, where you never know what will happen... absolutely love this video, so honest and true and your comments made me laugh quite a vew times... absolutely brilliant 👏👌😀 one of my favorite ones, thank you so much for not putting it into the bottom of the dumpster and actually posting it❤
Tbh the bubbles and they way the submarine is Burnt kinda makes it look more realistic, the bubbles add onto that effect as well! I think it turned out great!
It's actually quite refreshing to see someone's failure shown plain. Thanks for sharing the process, the full process.
I appreciate you sharing this anyway, it still looks great!
I really love watching your work, whether it turns out as intended or not!
You work is phenomenal but the commentary is the main reason I keep coming back. Good for a laugh every time! Keep it up.
I love that he moved the measurements over for his American viewers!! He's so kind
You are so good at clay sculptures
The bubbles made it look like it was mid-explosion, you could've made it into the Oceangate sub
I've made a few spectacular (and expensive) failed resin projects. Most recently I spent weeks assembling, sanding, priming, and prepping a client's sculpture for a large-scale rubber mold from which to cast resin replicas. Despite years of experience, thousands of dollars of materials, and seemingly all the right conditions, the entire thing went sideways and destroyed not only the mold but also the master. Casting and pouring is great when it works.
I love The Life Aquatic! This is so awesome
My name is Adam, and I approve of these videos! You do awesome work brother, I truly enjoy watching your content. You’re very talented!
Enjoying the humor and embracement of mistakes. Fun addition to your interesting art style
It looks more sinister and loved how the sub looks too,you know you don't want to mess with that shark. Am hooked on your videos Adam, keep them coming 🙃
Why does nobody apreciate the fact that he always choses the perfect music for the glamour shots.
that's actually very cool! even though it didnt turn out how it was supposed to, it looks awesome, and in my opinion the bubbles make it just a bit better.
One of my favourite movies , you did it a lot of justice
I actually love the rugged finish it has, it gives it a deep sea dangerous shark feel
You never cease to amaze with your ideas. Really glad the with the tricky solution you got there with the submarine, I got anxious when i saw it.
I'm really really glad you still posted this video even though it didn't turn out like you hoped. It's refreshing to see the honest 'side' of art and encourages other people (like me) to not be discouraged about their own mishaps. Especially with all the time and effort and money you put into yours! It still looks better than what I could do 😂
I actually like to think the cracks/bubbles are from the sub imploding after getting bit by the shark :D its more of an added narration for me, and I like it because of it!
Love the channel and your videos inspired me to make my own hinox and it came out incredible, its not quite finished yet, but i used super sculpey medium and i wanna thank you for inspiring me to craft
I appreciate so so much that you posted this. I recently cocked up a project of my own pretty bad last second and I look at all these great artists I look up to and they never seem to have the mistakes I do and it makes me harder on myself. I know, logically, they do probably mess up too but I can't help but feel a little more of a burn because I never see anyone else screw it.
