WOW!!! just wow!!!! First let me say I've watched several dozens of backyard makeover and firepit DIYs and let me tell you, yours was the most inspirational by a mile. You made this video fun and educational all the way through. We just bought our first home and I'm bursting at the seems with ideas. You can tell your yards has a lot of love put into it. Thank you so much for sharing this, the back half of my property is sloped and natural/overgrown. I’ve been trying to find inspiration for a fire pit area and yours is perfect! I will likely have to do a chiminea because that’s all that’s allowed much of the year here (burn bans are common from June to October) but I can imagine putting the chiminea in front of a stone wall

It was fun, and I still get to enjoy a part of my yard that was pretty much used for nothing for years.

I’m thinking of doing this in my side yard and this video was *incredibly* helpful. Not to mention fun to watch. Thanks- you’re a true inspiration!!

Yeah, they're all covered in snow at the moment. But they should look pretty sweet once spring comes. I planted some flower seeds in there too. Man I wish I could remember what kind of flowers they were...haha. My wife knows. I'll have to ask her. Can't believe I forgot. Anyways, I hope those look nice too. Thanks for watching. Thanks, friend. I've had the fire pit for about a year now and we use it all the time. Thanks for watching.

I found a massive natural limestone in my back yard and in the middle, it has a smooth bowel from water flow that I dug out but i'm trying to find a way to dig down a few feet and add half circular seating for half moon shape, twelve feet wide. The rest of this oblong stone is submerged under ground. But its about three feet high above ground and about ten feet long. And its all sitting at the base of a very gradual slant in the yard. I haven't seen anyone do this and your video is giving me a few ideas though. Awesome set up! I'm not far from the Smokey Mountains and yes, those are nice stones!

Thanks for the compliment. 😜🎸 I obviously saved tons of money on labor, but with my materials and with the delivery fees, I think I the project cost around $1300-$1500 in my area...Minnesota. The Smokey Mountain Stepper flag stones were by far the most expensive pieces. I just sort of fell in love with those. I suppose it could have been much cheaper without them, but I'm still really glad I found them and used them.

Can someone explain the point of removing the sod instead of just laying down heavy duty landscaping plastic? I’m just curious. I’m thinking of doing this.

Hiya. I had to remove the sod because this is the slope of a hill and I had to level it out for the fire pit seating area. So, essentially I had to dig 3 feet down on the uphill side.

Hi there. It was a couple of years ago, so I can't really remember the costs. A few thousand dollars in materials and rocks I think. But obviously I didn't need to pay for labor, so I saved a ton.

Hi Ashley. I don't. I think we tossed those. They were great for some preliminary ideas, but after a while this project evolved from the drawings.
