I also made a spec Kodak commercial last year with my grandpa, but this inspires me to take another shot at it! The work you share in this channel is a delight. I find myself really inspired by the way the passion for what you do comes through so strongly through each of your videos - and this one is just on another level! As people have pointed out, your film making and color grading is just 👌💯, I'm also impressed at your charisma as a performer, that shot where you're taking the picture with your phone is so iconic! Some thoughts on the short, since you asked for them: * Some of the shots you got are quite impressive, and the overall production quality feels TV-level for me. What stood out to me though, moreso than the length, was that it felt like there were too many scenes for a regular ad (although I know some countries have a culture of longer ads, and now with the internet companies also do longer skits). Knowing you've been making short films makes a lot of sense because it felt like you were portraying a full story (a lot of steps from the photo site to the mountain), when ads usually capture a single moment in time. I'm really curious about how a 1min version of this would look like, or even one that's less than 30s! The establishing shots are beautiful and super moody, but in an ad context I feel like the more common approach would be to have the protagonist running with no context, and the reveal than it was to take a picture coming at the very end. The concept is definitely strong whichever way you execute it though. * I do agree on the shoots you took after feeling a bit disconnected - mostly the still shoot of the tram arriving - the stoplight signs are fine. * Funnily enough, I found your introduction to be just as stellar, and tighter in places where the ad was a bit sprawling. It took me quite by surprise because it's a step up from the usual vids, and I couldn't help to watch it all over again after finishing the video. I wonder if you shoot this after the actual spec ad? I found your narrative, music, and the shoots at your office to be so great, reminded me a lot of the recent Apple ads :)

Thank you for the kind comment! Really happy to hear that you enjoy these videos so much :) Also thank you for sharing your thoughts and feedback! Your comment and a couple others have made me realise why I've been making short films and do not plan on seriously pursuing commercials haha. I totally understand what you mean and the alternative shorter version you mention definitely sounds more realistic as an ad, but... I think I would really dislike it haha so that's why I make short films and not ads I suppose :,D It was great to try out though, thank you for sharing your thoughts :)

At first I thought it was just another banal "someone runs through the world to achieve something" video. But the subtle comedy makes it something special that I really like. For me, the choice of film look suits the product being advertised and the sparse text leaves room for your own thoughts. Really beautifull! I also think the way the making of is prepared is great.

As a first time watcher, i belive it feels more like a short film, than a spec-ad. I must say I love how it feels and the looks of it, but some scenes look out of place. For what I'd change, I'd make it shorter, by cutting the lengh of some, and cutting the whole shots. The concept works wonders, especially with the film-ysh coulors that really makes it pop in the eyes of photographers. Watching it tho, felt like a marathon, because I belive by wanting to emphasys the story, the running really got out of hand. Over all, I think it looks and feels greats, congrats!!🎉

Respekt Theo.

If I had to give a critique, I would say some of the music choice conveyed different tones that I found to conflict. Otherwise, I really enjoyed watching that and it is a very good showcase of skill and imagination. Kodak would be wise to hire

Great lil project! Colour grading was beautiful. Btw this is all just my opinion, I'm no expert :). - Music choices were great would say to stick with only one or two. Perhaps maybe one score that works throughout. - I think it felt a little long for what you were trying to achieve. - The comedy elements were great! Only thing to add, @18:05 instead of saying it will be a banger once it is dark. You have looked at the sky then your wrist gesturing you are looking at the time. Just more of a show don't tell. But you did this earlier in the project so I know you know this :) That's all the feedback from me. You're vert talented and I'm a big fan of your work. So good luck with all moving forward

I love your honesty at the end when you mentioned how it didn't quite look how you imagined it. On this end, it was lovely. As a beginner, when I make things that don't turn out how I envisioned I go straight to, "Am I even good at this?" Lmao, which is the wrong approach of course. Its great to see someone of your skill have the same issues with your projects. It gives me hope, because at the end of the day even though it isn't as you envisioned its likely still telling a great story. Thanks for the fun video.

The final video came out really well. A bit too much running but otherwise well tought out. with the cliche photographer scene think it would have helped to have a shaky POV frame from the main caracters perspective looking at the photographer before cutting to the locked on closeup and shot with the gas station, and then cutting back to a shaky running pov panning from the photographer back to the path in front.

Incredible. Gorgeous, and a great plot. I think to make it a complete knock out of the park, the only area that could be improved is the consistency of tone. It felt a bit like you couldn't decide whether to make it humorous or moody, and I think committing more one or the other would make it more cohesive. As in, play up the quippy lines and go entirely with intense, even silly music (eye of the tiger, gonna fly now). Or forget the quips, use a profound orchestral score and act as if it's a nat geo piece on a feat of human nature. Some slight tweaks to the end dialogue would also be effective I think -- it's implied that he accomplished this trek in well under 45 minutes, so instead of his friend asking why he went out of his way (when it doesn't appear to the friend that he really did, given his speedy return), he could ask "where'd you find that?" Or even "What's that?" "the shot." and then a tagline of "Kodak. Get the shot." . I like the "if you know you know" but following it with a tag line is like explaining it after stating that it takes inside knowledge to get it. It would be more succinct to just have "if you know you know" and then "kodak" with their logo. You don't have to add "makes photos matter", that's what you're saying we already know. i can only comment on the tone because the whole thing was so well executed!!!! Very enjoyable video and spec ad. Thank you as always for this content !!

I don't know, Teo.. you're more of a "Fujifilm guy" to me. The colors of your photos, videos and this commercial are all very similar to the curves of a Fuji Pro 400H or Superia X-Tra... your Japanese descent, photos of Mount Fuji, etc. This commercial should have been for Fuji with the protagonist climbing Mount Fuji to get the film. 🤷‍♂️😛 But I love the video, of course (as always ❤)

This was beautiful. I didn't quite get the photographer by the gas station area either until you explained it, but other than that it was fantastic.

I gotta say, the shot of Teo's long lost twin being the cliché photographer made me laugh out loud
