To me that only makes Garp standing by letting them get this close to executing Ace even more ridiculous. His choices were: A) let them do it and lose both his grandsons because even if Luffy survived he would never forgive Garp standing there and watching this happen. And notice they have yet to meet since then, real convenient. B) side with his family. And I would love to hear Garp explain why he couldn't lift a finger for Ace, but when it's Coby, then Garp is in End Boss mode. And it's not like Coby probably wouldn't have saved himself eventually, either. The only thing that makes any sense to me is Ace HAD to die for Garp to feel that loss to the point where he never wanted to feel that way again. Which is still pretty crappy logic but I'd buy it.

One thing I really appreciate about One Piece the longer it goes on is how deep these adoptive relationships run and tend to outshine blood relations in the story. Everyone that is blood related almost always hates each other. Everyone that's adopted is willing to die for their sibs, no questions asked. Whitebeard is especially neat because all he ever truly wanted was family, and that alone makes him Pirate King in my eyes, he's living his dream. That instant bond between Luffy and Whitebeard's crew took me back to Ace meeting the Straw Hats.

I think this moment whitebeard adopted luffy.

gum-gum rifle really puts into perspective the size of third gear, since he's using it against a giant...when he says his arm is the size of a giant, he means it literally its as big as a giant not the size of a giants arm

looking back on this i realized. Rayleigh was in the crowd at Saboady when he heard all of this news. I wonder if Gol Roger told Rayleigh that he had a son? and then also the fact that Rayleigh met Luffy before he knew any of this and saw Roger in him. and then the fact that it comes out that Luffy father is Dragon... Do you think in that moment Rayleigh knew Luffy had to be JoyBoy considering he was with Roger at the last Island and knew all of history? Do you think the last island at the very least said that the next wielder of the Human-Human fruit Nika with gum-gum powers was going to be the person that changes everything? Is that why Rayleigh started training Luffy? I mean he swam through the calm belt just to get to him to offer himself as Luffy's teacher. There's so much to unpack when you rewatch stuff. and still so many questions still unanswered. I wonder if Oda will tie everything up into a nice bow or leave somethings to the audiences imagination about whether they were coincidences or not. 25+ years a lot of time to plan a story. Sorry for the long read lol, this all just came to me.

I think it was the fact he had the same ambition as Roger & his StrawHat , acknowledged by WB n backed up by his crew ,his Dad was directly opposin the WG n Ace died to protect him after Luffy went thru hell n back as well as his Conq blast shii had Admirals n Sengoku trippin out 🤷🏻

@@Kanecruz71 Maybe initially from that Sabaody encounter. But being the step brother of Ace who is the son of his sworn mate. There's a reason why Oden said to open the borders of Wano in anticipation of someone. That's gotta be connected to knowing that Nika would show himself in the very near future. Rayleigh must've been waiting for this day. Why else would he hangout at the place where all the grandline islands connect before going past the redline. I'm about to rewatch the series when the new years starts and watch maybe 3 or 4 episodes per day. It's going to take me about a year but I'll be paying attention to all the Easter eggs from the beginning lol

Hold on. Why am I just realizing that Sengoku says, Luffy is A SON of Dragon. Could Luffy have bio siblings?

I feel ya. True OP's fan should understand that (not having to like it, but accept it). After all, OP's all about being raw with your emotions and even sometimes "looking ugly" about it. And that's why it sometimes feels more real than a lot more of those animes where people looks "pretty" while crying or being angry. Nah, Luffy, his comrades, even Sanji who's always serious, they looks ugly while letting their emotions raging, that's so good. So blaming a OP fan for being... well, as raw as the characters in the show they like, meh : P

But if you always watch the reaction mashups that he has in all of them, you will get used to it and then ignore it. Because a long time ago I also felt that but now I accept it and it's incomplete mashup if there is no Khan on the list
