When my buddy first played crisis core on the psp. He asked me "where is Zack in 7" I told him "o he retired and gave cloud the buster sword to take the mantle". When he beat it he called and said " I beat crisis core and you're a dick" then hung up. 😂😂😂

Crisis Core really bring so much context... Heck, it makes you just sad to see Sephiroth and how this heroic man just loses all his friends, gets to know too much and then snaps... Same for Zack... Man tried his best to keep everyone safe, help Angeal, Sephiroth and many others... But it all kept slipping through his fingers... But what made him a true hero is that he never gave up. To the bitter end.

Absolutely. My heart sank the 1st time I played and Sephiroth said the next mission was in Nibelheim. Knowing what that meang, I was like, how about we get a beer instead? Sephiroth said no lol.

Zack is the absolute best, and that ending gets me every time 😭

I think it speaks volumes about Zack character that everyone knows what's going to happen to him. But it still doesn't change how much it hurts to relive that moment again.

Trauma Core: Reunion strikes again!

One of the genuine miracles about Crisis Core's narrative is that you know exactly how it will end, yet it still hits you hard. I think one of the reasons is that the latter half of the story is an increasingly protracted series of goodbyes - he's seeing people for the last time, one by one, half the time not realizing (like we do) that he will never see them again..

If you cry before you select “new game” then you’re in for a tough time

I played Crisis Core on the PSP before i played FF7. I know a little bit like the thing with Aerith. But i didnt had any knowledge about Zack and who he was. So after i finished CC, i was so damn destroyed of the ending. I loved Zack and for me, he was my first FF7 main protagonist. And his postive nature inspired me as a teenage boy who just started to learn to find his place in the World and becoming a grownup. I cryed so hard, my parents tought something terrible must have happend. Even today its still feels like I lost something the day i finished the game.

The reaction you gave when Cloud scream was the same reaction I had. I played the original and the scream wasn't as good as this scream from Cloud's new voice actor and he did such a brilliant job with it. That scream is the same scream I had when I lost so much.

I actually watched the ending with the original voice actors and thought the same thing. Cody Christian’s scream hits so much harder than Steve Burton’s.

"I miss Zack already, let's play again". Oh I feel this in my bones. I've skipped the ending (as you, I did not have the psp but I watched the videos) and replayed it three times so far... I'm focusing on my missions!!

This game made me depressed for 2 days 😭😭😭

I am very excited for when I can actually watch this. Even before watching I already know that Zack deserves better and that this video deserves to be seen by all Zack stans (aka everyone).

As soon as you included clips of watching through the DMW memories, I was hoping to see 1:17:08, because it's one of the ones that still _ALWAYS_ hits me. Also, high five to mission procrastination in the church. I stayed until I beat Minerva and literally had nothing left to do before I kept going, 'cause those are the moments where you just want to enjoy them being together when things are still simple.

Boy, oh boy… The price of freedom is steep.

Crisis Core Reunion? The Reunion part means reuniting me with my heartbreak and tears.

She screams, the screen shakes, and all I'm thinking is: She is like me. Her reaction is exactly like mine. Why did I not found her sooner??

I played this back in the day when it first released on the psp. I was maybe 14 years old at the time and the ending made me cry like a lil baby. You are right, you will never recover from the trauma because its been like 15 years and I still think about it and the ending still makes me cry.

This game does a really good job at making you fall in love with Zack just for that inevitable ending and it is seriously evil on a whole new level of sadism lol

Did you really expect anything different from the guys who made people live down Aerith's death in FFVII back on the PSX in the 90's?

To recycle a comment from an FFX playthrough: I have come once again to watch a young woman get her heart ripped out by Crisis Core's ending.

Why did I watch this, the ending gets me no matter how many times I see it.

It’s so crazy that this remaster is many people’s first time ever touching Crisis Core! And one of the reasons the game needed a remaster to begin in an era of remakes. Feels like I just seen your reactions to the cutscenes for the PSP original! So glad you finally experienced the game in full among other FF JRPG fans. It was always a solid game originally that deserved to be more noticed, but CC Reunion is definitely better/improved. I have clambered this for several reasons, and it went above my expectations. Cannot wait to see what they do with Zack for FF7 Rebirth. Especially after giving us this remaster.

It wasn't because of mission. Zack and cloud was imprisoned in hojo lab during 4 years. So he couldn't see Aerith cause he was unconscious during all this time. So when he woke up to escape Hojo lab 4 years has already passed.

At the end of Crisis Core you see Cloud carrying the Buster Sword. In FF: Dissidia (also a PSP title) he refers to the Buster Sword as a memento. Huh... More like a heavy cross to bear - or rather, a very large tombstone marker. Yeah, you ain't the only one who can write emotional scenes, Nomura!

Zack's VA got so much better in this game it crazy especially at the end. Love it. He also doesn't sound hyper during the embrace your dreams like he did in remake. Edit: Actually, read what I'm saying. Don't assume that I haven't played the OG or That hate the new VA's

That question at the end always get me. 😭 Theres a game called "Dissidia opera Omnia" who reunites all charachters from all FFs and Zack is one of those. Theres a scene with him where he recover his memory and he says: "oh, so thats what happen". It made me cry even more that he found out what happened to him with a smile on his face.

The original release is one of the reasons I bought a PSP, loved it then, love it even more on PS5. As much as I enjoyed the sotry and characters, the combat was where the game really shined, imo, and it's better now. Just a few quality of life improvements but it makes a ton of difference.

i'm sure someone commented it, and this is an old video, but- i suppose the idea that zack has trouble reading tseng's name is more accessible in japanese. kanji is, besides being used for whole words, generally used to write names, but can have several pronunciations, and the symbols themselves originally came from china. it's pretty clear to me that wutai is the china of this game, and tseng's name is chinese and not japanese. i think the joke is that tseng's name could be read one way or another with japanese kanji, but zack doesn't get it because it's actually a chinese name and he can't read it.

Walkin' on the web after some sub-mission on a game and after a clear this game again after many year... I'm glad too see other person touch by this game/story and more for Zack. At the end, when we looking our self in front of this scene we are for the most the same. For some because he remember a part of us, for other close person. Shoot I don't think I can watch this. I def need to play first lol. I'm excited for you! When you get a chance you should check out the latest Star Ocean game that came out last year. It's surprising a lot of fun and you get fly with you're jetpack like thing which makes traveling fun and quicker.

@@malpercio123 Off the top of my head, it's pretty heavily implied since you can't join it unless you talk to Cissnei during that obscure opportunity in Junon. She's the person who has access to all that information, and she's always travelling along with you wherever you end up going, as well as giving more context to her actions and struggles with her job to stop Zack even before Tseng orders her to take him in alive.

am just playing Crisis core for the first time, I haven't even played the PSP one, and you stated this too at the begining, but looks like you know alot about Zack and scenes and moments - like how did you know that he bought her the ribbon? was it mentioned in the OG FFVII? or elsewhere? I feel like I should've known too...did I miss something?

I respect how this game was just a pure remaster from start to finish. Normally I would want to see something new, but Crisis Core is already a perfect story itself and doesn't need anything new. Plus with the way FFVII Remake really warped our perspective of the original story (for better or for worse), the younger gamers really need this game to understand Zack's importance to the whole FFVII lore.

You know how good they wrote a character when you cry at the end when the game brutally rips him off from you. Every. Single. Time! Because no matter how many times you finish the game, it still hits you like a ton of bricks and you cry like a little kid.

Did cloud take on zack Persona if so why isn't he always smiling and acting like a shounen protagonist?

I feel so good i wasnt the only one to cry so bad , 2 days after. It hurt so bad in hindsight when Cloud told Aerith to forget about that looser.....he forgot. And crushed me even twice when Aerith denied that Tifa spoke to her about Cloud remembering Zack. I was like..? We gonna leave my hero out to dry like dat?

1:44:36 Oh FUUUUUUUCK... FF7 Rebirth we're totally gonna see Zack in that Timeline reading through the Letters, and it's gonna fuck us all up 😭 That's assuming it's going where I think it is, I'm just now getting to FF7R Intergrade on my PS5, but I heard there is a scene or two after Episode Intermission where we see the crew on the road and Zack apparently turns up to the church and it might seem to be hinting at Aerith being dead in that timeline? Just speculation on my part though as I haven't played it yet, and apparently it's up for interpretation anyway (like you don't find out either way in the scene? just what I, and I assume many, expect to be the case 🤷‍♂️)

With how miserably sad this ending is, i can't imagine how tragic his inevitable self-sacrifice will be at the finale of FF7...

I really hate the final DMW scene for Zack because, in case u didn't know, or maybe forgot, the DMW stands for Digital Mind Wave. So essentially when he gets those summons and the DMW rolls, he's basically recalling memories. Which might be more obvious when U see the cutscene for the DMW animations. So seeing it constantly land on Aerith and even when it's glitching and trying to stay on Aerith, you realize, it's because Aerith is the last thing on his mind. Bullets, bombs, friend betrayal, confusion, and chaos surround him--but among the chaos and frustration, through his pain, the thing he spent his last moments thinking of was Aerith. And the glitching, in my mind makes me think that his mind is slipping away, his life is withering away, but he's desperately holding onto the thoughts of his time with Aerith. And the scene with Aerith standing in the rain of the church and her sudden outburst, makes me wonder if, since Cetra have an enate ability to communicate with the Gaia and have strong ties to consciousness and the lifestream, it's as if she could sense Zack's distress. Or his final moments of letting the world go with only Aerith on his mind. I love the fuck out of Aerith so much. And Zack is my absolute favorite protagonist ever.. This scene is heartbreaking asf. Almost as sad as my girl dying in FF7:Rebirth
