I'm TOO OLD to Build Muscle? with Dr. Sean O'Mara [Get faster at Any Age]

Building muscle is something you can do at any age. Many folks over 50 think it's too late for them to become physically fit and build strong, healthy muscle. This is not true. Dr O'Mara and I discuss all things fitness for those of us over 50 (I'm 55 and he's 61). You can start right where you are and become slowly stronger and faster each month by following these simple principles.
Dr. O'Mara works with business executives, professional performers and athletes motivated to optimize through innovative techniques of performance enhancement. Dr. O'Mara has over a decade of experience evaluating and, more importantly, reversing chronic disease. He provides his clients with practical solutions to optimize their overall appearance, performance, health, and quality of life. No risky pharmaceuticals, hormones, or surgical interventions are needed for better optimizing results. Dr. O'Mara and his team used cutting-edge data analytics to glean insights to both identify and leverage innovative biometrics/biomarkers of health, the human genome as well as the microbiome. This inventive research and decade of experience optimizing humans provides Dr. O'Mara the capability to optimize anyone - including you.

When I told my oncologist I was a carnivore he hid his disgust behind his N99 mask. After 2 years of therapeutic ketosis in conjunction with chemotherapy as a carnivore I am resolved of stage 3 metastasized endometrial cancer. Now he hides his glee behind his mask. He still will not acknowledge the health benefits of a carnivore diet. Thank you Prof Thomas Seyfried.

Well ive completely changed my diet ,im on low carb keto and my liver readings have come way down, im not saying ive cured my cirrhosis but my quality of what ever life ive got left is now worth living. I started carnivore and progressively. I felt so much better. I felt so much better that I was doing so much more hard labor than I was capable of doing before. The problem is I worked so hard because I felt so good that I ended up creating shoulder inflammation because my body hadn’t quite adjusted to my newfound energy and determination. I went to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis to a walk-in orthopedic clinic for them to look at the inflammation in my shoulder. I had an appointment scheduled. I sat there for 30 minutes after checking in and a young man with a clipboard, not a doctor, came out and refused me treatment. They said my injury was not orthopedic even though I had not been examined. They sent me down to the third floor of the hospital to the spine and neck center. But then after 10 minutes, other people started coming down there. I guess the doctors didn’t want to see patients today, so they were pushing them off to other offices. None of us get treated that day because no one was in that office. The condition of healthcare today in our modern society is a joke. Thank God for doctors like you.

I’m a just-turned-74 yo woman. I started getting in better shape around age 68 with yoga and pilates, started with weights at 70, and made the mistake of giving up cardio as I did. In ‘23, I had pneumonia in June and Covid in December (2exact weeks-short Covid!) Afterwards I thought I should take walks, and found to my horror that I could only walk 1/3 mile without being stopped by back pain and shortness of breath. Around that time I watched one of Dr Sean’ videos about sprinting to get rid of belly fat (my nemesis). So I took up treadmill again, but it is a slow process. I have worked up to doing 1 mile in just under 25 minutes. Anything above 3 mph I have to start jogging. Real sprinting is still in the future. I just have to not give up. Right now I don’t want to spend more than 25 minutes, so I am just slowly upping my pace. I tried a 1-degree incline and it killed my back. I assume I will overcome this eventually. My plan is “never give up, never give in.”

Was told by a practice I had been going to for 20 years to schedule a new patient appointment for having been absent for 2 years. So that's big so called Heath systems. They try to penalize you in some way for not being a "regular". Here I thought it was great & courteous of me to not go if I wasn't ill to accommodate patients who were in need of appointments. So, yeah, wasn't going to accept their new patient policy when they had been seeing me for 20 years. So yeah, I fired them. Sad,😢 really. Non compliant. Better for it. I've never felt better! I've lost more weight & gotten healthier almost more than I've ever been since then. It's got to go back to all private practice not huge health systems owning these doctors!! Thanks Dr. Berry! After 1-1.5 years of watching videos (yours in particular) I started my carnivore diet January 1st 2024. It is now June 23, 2024 and I have lost 56 pounds. Around the 2nd week in April I had a great deal of sagging skin so I rejoined my local gym and have gone every other day for resistance training and the other days I walk/sprint. Sunday is my rest day. Jordan Peterson and his daughter were what made up my mind. In February I started fasting every week on Saturday or Sunday and that has really accelerated my weight loss. Once again thank you.

Thanks to Dr. O'Mara I started sprinting a few weeks ago, I had to work on ankle mobility but I'm getting stronger and faster, and I also noticed increased vascularity in my arms.

I started doing carnivore on May 29. Started at 308 pounds and I’m down to 280. GERD is gone. Chronic pain in my right leg is gone. Geographic or burning tongue is gone. Shooting pains in my feet and hands are gone. my energy levels have increased fivefold. Bending over to pick stuff up off the floor is 10 times easier. I can’t wait to see what the next 40 pounds brings. I’m going to tell you something else in the next post.

Go to a wellness based chiropractor who can work with your spine. Maybe not adjust the neck at the injury site, but the areas above and below, making a difference for the long term.

I LOVE SEAN OMARA! He's the one who got me on ferments in Jan. Had that not happened, I wouldn't have gotten control of my brain. And I wouldn't have had the strength to do carnivore. It just gives u control over your mind. Look up gut microbiome and vagus nerve and how the bad bacteria control your thoughts! I'm now 6 weeks carnivore and thriving. I was fed coke and sugar since i was a baby! My sugar addiction was the worst. Sprints ftw. Ferments ftw Carnivore ftw LIFE CHANGING I lost my looks. I was hot! Got me so depressed that I lost my pretty face. I can see my pretty returning. Still some to go.... but I've gone from being clinically depressed since lockdown and now to skipping put of bed and loving my day. Also, I'm about to launch my brand! Thank you 🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵

Hi, thanks for sharing. I’ll try and add kefir and see how I go. I tried grass fed full fat A2 milk in kefir grains 24 hours but the milk was pasteurised and I found it didn’t feel good I my gut. My ancestry is half Scottish/English and half Fijian. Fijians would be lactose intolerant so maybe I’m not biologically adapted to dairy, but maybe it worth trying raw milk kefir. What animal products do you eat? I find at 54 that I thrive on grass fed beef, plus a small tin of sardines in water each day for omega 3 and iodine. I tried a ‘whole’ food plant based vegan lifestyle three times in my life and each time after around nine months I was physically and mentally depleted. I love the physical and mental benefits of carnivore, including the simplicity. Plus down here in New Zealand all our beef is 100% grass fed.👍😀

I’ve been following Dr. O’Mara sprinting advice for six months and it has been a game changer. At 67, a day doesn’t go by where someone doesn’t remark how remarkably fit I am. My blood pressure averages 110/67. Besides sprinting, I am weightlifting and playing squash. Between upper body sets, I do jump squats.

Also get a wonderful insight and education. Today I rode 10.00 miles while listening to gather video footage of the flooding. Also resistance while riding a bike in 1 foot of water.

I started body building in my 30s and walking 15 to 20 miles every four to five days now I’m 58 and never regretted it, but one mistake people make they can over do it working out to much your body needs to relax properly before you exercise again, walking is the best exercise before you do any workout to build muscle properly, running is ok but it does put a strain on your heart more than walking and you will have less energy to do any kind of exercise like body building, my advice to anyone who wants to build muscle don’t over do it your body needs to recover first before you even think about exercising again give yourself at least two or three days rest believe me the results is so much better. ❤👍
