Yes, there are other fighting games. But for me, every fighting game that has come out in the past three years… I just go back to Tekken. I’ve put solid hours into other fgs but I never really felt compelled to stick around. Tekken for me is something I feel like there’s always something new to learn. Some other games it just feels like you figure out everything a bit too fast and now the magic is gone. And I’m glad it’s mainstream now. I’ve made so many new friends because of this game and despite the criticism the game receives, I still enjoy the game and the new social connections it’s given me. I remember back in the days of T7 it’d be so hard to convince people to play my “boomer game.” Now everyone’s playing and it just feels great to see so many new faces trying out tekken. Hell, even people trying out fighting games for the first time. It’s really cool imo

Tekken might be mainstream in terms of fighting games but it's not really mainstream in general. The average gamer might play story mode/arcade, maybe a bit of online, then bounce right off.

In street fighter I main Chun li, Cammy, and Guy(depending on the SF in question), in dead or alive I main Helena, Tina, LeiFang, Ayane, Hitomi, Bayman, and Christie. In soul calibur I main Siegfried, Taki, and Mitsurugi(again depending on which game in question)

Idk man, I play fighting games too and tekken has been the last one I picked up. It's pretty much that that game looks and feels better to play than anime fighters. I like guilty gear xrd and strive, but for me it's those stupid special move "flick your stick all over the place" inputs that just make me not like playing those games, same reason I don't touch street fighter. Meanwhile tekken and mortal kombat are a lot easier to get the controls down off which will make people stick to those games. It is unfortunate how some games have basically no online matchmaking, I've seen this in absolver, which I liked a lot. But that's not because of the players of other games. For more likely, it's a lack of proper marketing, a difficulty curve to steep that scares new players off, or just a lack of continuous support in general.

Im agree with you because kof xv just gameplay wised might be the most solid game in the last couple years yet people preferred to play more mainstream game, Sf 6 was and utter disappointment for me and tekken 8 while the demos were fun I knew that in a long term it was going to become tiresome I didn’t buy it.

i got into tekken because of the funny smashbros dlc.

King of Fighters XV was so fun, but I got fed up with not getting games so moved on. Tried Tekken 8, being my first tekken in over 25 years, currently loving it, even if the community is pure trash, full of runners and wifi laggers. Is what it is... otherwise I got fightcade for all the classics I love. Reina is my main, LOL!

I’m seriously considering getting blazblue but I’m kinda hesitant since I’ll be ass and hardly anyone plays

Tekken 8 as a core is good but I had to uninstall the game yo with the whole battle pass system and then the Tekken store and then the patches and updates broken and also publisher attacking Tekken 8 modders...I'm like yah no I don't support that at all so I uninstalled the game. Now going back and playing soulcalibur 6 because I haven't finished that game so I'm about to be doing that and then I'm about to go into Killer instinct again

I really want to play KoF for the dinosaur grappler but the game turned me off with the rosters and stuff. I'd rather play 1v1. Once Fatal Fury comes out I might try it. Anime fighters look cheesy to me. I love pixel art and I love well done 3D models. I got into fighting games with MK1 then jumped to T8. I feel like a lot of people did the same. There's a specific aesthetic that we are chasing.

I agree but something gotta be mainstream, tekken, sf, and mk fit that criteria I like other fighting games but they are really niche and nobody ever talks about them at least with tekken, I can know people irl who can be like "yeah I've played that tekken" and they can relate to me a little it's easy to find people who play fortnite and cod, but you'll quickly come to the realisation that you're not gonna be talking about fighting games with people, no matter how passionate you are about them, it's great to be part of a niche community and stuff but I kinda miss just talking about normal games I play with normal people without it falling back to fortnite or something

Idk I recently got into Tekken, out of my comfort zone, and somewhat enjoying it. As a huge BlazBlue fan and GG accent core, I don't like Strive too much due to pace. Don't like Granblue too much either due to Vaseragas matchup with 2B (it feels miserable to play into). I grind Naoto combos on the side tho

This tekken made me want to go back and play the old ones. I went back and enjoyed playing Tekken 6. One of my favorite fighting games of all time is Tobal No. 1 on PS1 but that game doesn't get much love

I love tekken 8. I think it’s an amazing game but I don’t think the franchise as a whole is overrated I think mk is the most overrated by far. It’s the cod of fighting games. Not tekken. And I’m not gonna say blazblue is better than tekken since there’s completely different & appeal to different kinda fg players. I think it’s good but me personally I think Melty blood & under night are better anime fighters than blazblue and guilty gear I also think doa, soul calibur, & bloody roar are just about even with tekken. I love all of these just as much as tekken but to me the real king of 3D fighters is virtua fighter by far And soul calibur is what got me into fg’s lol

Exactly....but fighting games have cash prizes now a days, especially 'playstation tournaments' so your not playing for nothing now plus go to games with most activity is T8 and SF6. If u want to continuous online matches, T8 and SF6 will be best bet. Hopefully Fatal Fury will do great cause we need 1v1 kof not that stupid 3v3 kof15..just saying lol (ps don't call reina a b!tch lol that my girl 😢)
