You missed an opportunity during installation. That piece of metal you bought at Home Depot is called a strut. There are things called strut trolleys that run inside the strut on bearing wheels. You could have mounted the full 10 feet and made a gantry crane.

Oh man, that is an awesome idea, when I get to the point where I can clean out my garage I'm going to be installing I left two because I have two motorcycles that I need to work on and that would help stabilize them where I would not have to worry about them falling over while I'm working on. You have a great day. Hope your home repairs go fast and you're back in as soon as possible. I know what it feels like not being able stay in your home, several years ago, I had a fire three days after Christmas and it was late spring before I got to move back into my home. It was no fun at all.

That roof structure does not seem to be able to support your 440 lbs. I can see the roof collapsing under that kind of weight.

I am a plumber who uses Unistrut, Kindorf, etc., not a structural engineer. You could build a bridge with this stuff. Online is how to use it correctly. The more I learn the less I know. Some are called shock load, angles that add three times (3X) the safety factor-just saying, Danger Will Robinson.

Always get the next size up vs what you expect to need. It's still going to be lower rated than you need later... Really, get the 650 lb single cable rating (1300 lb labeled box) as the minimum. And the "UnisStrut" channel used to hang it isn't even safe for 200 lb in that application. It's meant to hang a fixed load on the side of a metal building such as the breaker panel. Any shock load can fail that channel.

Does this hoist have an automatic limit switch or stop switch when bringing the hook up? In other words, if you were to keep pressing the UP button does the unit have a safety switch so that you don't wind the hook on to the cable roll? It looks like it does.in the video. Thank you for answering

The cheap straps at Harbor Freight ( appx $12 for a set of 4, occasionally the set of 4 are in the Harbor Freight Members' free with purchase list.) will lift your hard top. One per corner. Easily within their rating. They can lift a full size fiberglass pickup shell. I just used some to lift 6X12 ft metal barn doors in place while welding in the hinges.

I was thinking of getting one so I can raise my electric bike up off of the floor for the winter months or even after each ride to give me more space in the garage. How would you attach a bike to it. I'm thinking handle bars and seat but I don't know how to have two points attached without it tipping one way or the other. Help
