i've been working on a range break strat recently. i noticed waiting for pullbacks are lucrative, yet rare. getting a quality entry as the move begins by using your method is a game-changer. thank you etienne for sharing your trade setups with everyone. you probly spent countless hours developing this setup and now we all get to benefit from your hard work. cheers.

Thank you so much for showing the losses too ! Other traders don’t do that , they just say it’s not 100% & proceed to show the most textbook of trades that usually don’t translate in real market conditions 🙌🏽
Thank you for sharing. Will backtest, and work the edge!
Very clear breakdown! I enjoyed your video and strategy 🔥🔥🔥

Nice one mate, not many people share working trade setups. This is the sort of trade I love, the best part is that there is always some dependence on nuance and so noone will automate it 100% how u trade it as a manual trader, I think the key is how you interpret confirmation of a new high or low and how you know 'it is for real' that change in market mood that is almost impossible to define in code. You are right about the false breakouts in Asia, last year they were bread and butter trades on indices, this year Asia can set the trend for 24 hours. I like it👌
@DesireToTRADE

Nah breakouts are very hard or impossible to code. This is the stuff I trade manually when I have time. I’m glad you found this useful!
Hi Etienne, I live in Australia, so this Asian strategy is amazing for me. thank you so much for your time. It would be awesome if you would share more about this strategy. Cheers Kevin.
Clean way of trading breakouts! Never seen breakouts with this angle, thank you for sharing this. Most likely if you get stopped out using this strategy to enter, you were wrong and the market will go back in the previous range. Thanks!

Thanks for this Etienne! I want to stick to Asia session because I am in California and NY starts at 5am (too early for me !) and London starts at 12am. Asia starts at 5pm for me which fits my schedule. What is your win rate for this one?
Great video Etienne, you defo provide some of the best content on youtube for serious traders. Curious to know if you have/to what extent, tested this strategy to see if it also works on other markets/session times as a strategy to assist with trading range breakouts in general?
@DesireToTRADE

I appreciate it! I did a ton of backtesting back in 2018 but only for the Asian session. Generally, this works better in a slower environment like the Asian session. For other timeframe/pairs, I'd recommend this other breakout strategy: kzread.info/dash/bejne/mqGb28myXcLRYc4.html (works well on more timeframes)

I changed profit target to 1.3 for first point and changed it to taking 60% instead of 50%, barely changed win rate over 120 trades I tested but PL vastly improved due to being in profit on trades that hit first tp and then get stopped out.

Hi Etienne, are you still using this Asian session strategy, is it still working for you? as it fits my lifestyle perfectly. thanks!
Hi Etienne. Thank you. Why do you set your chart to UTC+7 and then look at 6:00 UTC+7? I would think if you are trading the Asian session then maybe you could set your chart to Tokyo time (UTC+9) and look at 8:00 UTC+9, which is one hour before Tokyo opens.

Enjoi all the fase breakouts😂😂
what chart you people are looking? i check AUD/JPY and ALWAYS do a false breakout.... how many times this strategy will work? 1 out of 30? i don't understand
Is this called the London breakout strategy?
Hey Etienne, how do you calculate the lot size for this kind of orders?
@DesireToTRADE

I generally risk 0.5% on these trades… so 0.25% per order. TradingView calculates that for you when you enter a trade in.

It’s very tough to code a breakout because there’s no objective way to measure it. I day trade BBR on AUD/JPY 15 min using the algo though. Happy to share the settings with you if you don’t have them yet.

If you were to automate this I would suggest using it to set context for another system, this could trigger another type of faster trading system that benifits from directional bias. I do a similar thing with a session box indicator I made.

@@agedvagabond my first thoughts were on how to benefit from possible direcion bias, check If divergences and price action could let me hop on, eighter in the direction of the break out, or on a possible exaustion/pull back and reversal, using the one and two minute TF since I have been practcing this kind of entry on low spread pairs at certain levels (still trying to understand Its nuances). One of this days, If possible, would like to understand what you meant by this system you've developed, (session box indicator) when and where maybe available. Thanks a lot!

@@zetta8120 I just divide the day up by sessions, Asia, Europe and USA and I trade breakouts of those sessions highs or lows. Pretty much the same as he does here.

Hi Etienne, i dont get how you kinda close and get 1% while your trade is still open. How can you get 1% and then it hits your stop loss and thats a break even?
@DesireToTRADE

I tend to move my stop to breakeven and use multiple targets. So maybe not 1% but 1R is reached.. then my stop goes to breakeven and worst case I get a 1R win (maybe 0.5% on the entire trade).
I only trade methods that work in all markets

Ultimately when you day trade Forex, you need to adapt to the different sessions (different periods in the market). They are different environments so you'll lose if you're trading the same strategy as in other sessions.

@@DesireToTRADE okay so what pair is this
Slippage and spread is unbelievably brutal on such short timeframes (i.e. small excursions) with pairs other than fiber. However, provided that extreme care is taken to avoid overfitting, you can employ heavy filtering since your signal frequency is pretty high. Also, the skew for these type of models is positive and it’s long vol both of which are great.
The majority of the breakout trades shown in this video were losses. I’ve noticed that whilst you were waiting for a breakout trade, a lot of good support and resistance trades happened which could have been profitable, do you ever trade these, or do you always wait for breakouts? What would you recommend?
Just explain your London session pairs trading, I am not awake for all this shit

Thanks for the ideas man. The R/Rs (1:1 1:3) are awful so I wouldnt use it. SMC works wonders and allows to enter in very small trades like what u called fake breakouts fousing on the R/R. Check mentfx or pips of persia, really perspective changing
@kareizaamune429
Жыл бұрын
There's nothing awful about having a strategy that consistently gives you 1:2 RRs. The reality is that most traders including those that trade "SMC" lose money. It's far better to have consistent 1:2s than random 1:10s.
Honestly useless without a spreadsheet where you have logged the performance of this strategy for at least 12 months

Losing retail-logic driven strategy. Don't know a single pro trader that trades breakouts, and I know quite a few. Just long support, short resistance and fade range highs and lows, bro - you will outrader 95% of people. Do the opposite of what this guy is showing you, for real.
