The bit where Mensah hugs MB gets me every time. The surprise/confusion on MB’s face and then deep affection on Mensah’s. The whole thing is lovely but that’s my favorite part.

Oh my this is good. Even better than my favourite episode of The Rise and Fall of Santuary Moon episode 132. Saved to permanent archives.

Gosh I had forgotten how sad and enraging it was when that guy said Art was deleted, you pictured it so well

Others have already commented on so many of the points that impressed me. The choice of so many pivotal moments perfectly captured the progression of MB. My favorites include the holding hands with Mensah, the emotional breakdown with Amena kneeling in front of MB, and I almost missed the quick flash of MB hanging upside down. Great music, great pacing, great interpretation of all that makes MB a favorite.

oh my gosh i am SCREAMING this is SO AMAZING, every time it says “that doesn’t mean that I wasn’t brave” I tear up a little about Best SecUnit!!

watched this, binged the series, came back to say it's even better with context and that's a high original bar to clear

the color scheme, the perfect on-beat scene changes, the beautiful murderbot design, the focus shifts between mensah and murderbot, the Emotions, the scene where murderbot falls to its knees and then the vision blurs out, the Emotions.... all of it. perfect. i will now resume watching and re-watching it infinitely :)

Part of me is hoping for a movie/series adaptation of Murderbot but then I'm also afraid that it won't show Murderbot how I do imagine it... However, what you did with Murderbot is so great and it absolutely fits to how I'm feeling about murderbot - goes directly to the heart '*sniff'* I love it, great work :)

afaik apple tv has picked up murderbot and has cast alexander skarsgard as MB…. not sure how i feel about it

ART SENT ME & the shots of Amena waiting for Murderbot to wake up... My eyes are leaking fluids. This is brilliant

AHHHH This is AMAZING! Already watched it at least 5 times! My favorite parts are the, "Standing in the shadow of a broken heart" sudden flashback, the Network Effect "Doesn't mean that I wasn't afraid" where the Target network suddenly lights up, and the Mensah hug! All 3 moments gave me such strong and immediate surges of emotion. A detail I didn't pick up on until after rewatching this a couple of times was the second, "Doesn't mean we're not one and the same" happening while MB's standing next to Mensah's *child* ... That's so wonderful. Thank you, thank you, thank you for making this!!

OMG OMG OMG, I LOVE THIS SO MUCH. IT"S SO PERFECT. Now I have to read the entire series all over again. I jumped up with a scream when I saw "ART SENT ME" written on the other Sec Unit's chestplate.

This really is such a perfect portrayal not just of Murderbot but also their feelings and this song was MADE FOR THEM

Another person chiming in to say that I watched this, went and binged the series, and then came back to watch it with context and Yes Okay It Is Even Better Now.

I’m a 50+ year old man and I just finished the series on audiobook. I really enjoyed the stories, the characters, the moments of action and suspense. Not once did I ever feel the slightest bit emotional about any of it. Somehow *this* managed to get me choked up… “Unexpected” is an understatement. This gave me a whole new connection to the books that I’ve so thoroughly enjoyed. Thanks!

Murderbot makes a (second) full-time job out of staying emotionally detached from situations whenever it can. So its narration can leave the reader a bit detached from the situation too... Except at certain key moments. Which is how Wells intended it. But Tegan and Sara's lyrics can dig pretty deep so... 🤷

watching this for the 714628262572th time and just noticed more about the color pallete- I had seen the red/blue sometimes symbolizing human/bot, but I just noticed the teal as the alien contamination in the last verse *chefs kiss* the layers

“Do my best to walk the finest line till I’ve had, all that I can take” Mb slowly falling too it’s knees, then a fade to the lyrics with the blue. I make it a habit to watch this once in awhile, but not to often. I’m always in tears by the end. I don’t ever want that to stop.

I can't stop thinking about this video. The song is just so perfect for Murderbot and your animation brings this amazing series to life so well. I hope Martha continues Murderbot's stories. Network Effect felt like just the beginning to me.

After clicking on the title, I didn’t expect an animated pop track VDO could convey Murderbot… but then it hacked all my security systems and exposed my feels. Oh, and did you notice their clever breaking of the lyric, so the previous panel where MB is running away is 'I'm not' and then the scene with Three is 'Your Hero' (/ART SENT ME/)? I thought that was so cool.

This is actually, literally, the BEST animatic/AMV i have ever seen in my ENTIRE Life. You captured the characters absolutely perfectly and every note hit the exact right story beat and like ... wow. Well done.

Speedrunning all the emotions it usually takes me a few days to feel via reading the books in under 4 minutes! Damn this is incredible!

a couple of friends and i have been basically watching this animatic on loop since we finished reading the Murderbot Diaries this is so perfect

I'm just repeating what so many others have already said, but the amount of thought and detail that went into this is incredible! I've read the series through at least 5 times, and the fact that I could connect each moment of this animatic to a scene I've read was so rewarding. You put so much thought and effort into this. I love the way you use camera angles and dimensions to give that window into murderbot's pov, the scenes that you chose not only reflect the character journey of murderbot, they're also perfect for the lyrics AND you managed to make them fit in chronological order???? This whole thing is a masterpiece, but one of the things I love the most is the way you show emotion and interaction. The facial expressions, the way you've used Murderbot's augments to reflect its situation, the physical gestures you chose to include, it's all so good and it fits the tone of the series perfectly. (Also, on a personal note, I love SO MUCH that you included *spoilers for Exit Strategy* the scene where Dr. Mensah grabs a rogue SecUnit by the lapels in front of a Company gunship crew and tells it "No", and she isn’t afraid of it. Hands down one of my favorite moments, and I was so happy to see it here.) Thank you, thank you, thank you, for an absolutely incredible work of art that I just know is going to live in my head rent-free for years, now.

I just finished listening to Network Effect, and im so happy I waited to watch this afterward. Seeing MB going through existence and the progress they made. Seeing miki, and that crystal-alien monster just sent shivers down my spine. I love that some things matched with my mind, and some looked different from what i had thought.

This is just so beautiful. Watching this was like reading the books for the first time; all of those moments that leapt out of the page and wounded me, this video made them fresh and new. Absolutely wonderful, thank you so much. I cannot imagine the technical and emotional skill it must have taken, never mind the time, to create a video that manages to keep the spirit of the original work while putting it into another medium and managing to keep the heart of MB alive and clear. ughhh this is SO GOOD!!! i'm obsessed with your art style, the narrative flow of this animatic is perfect and really sums up the most important aspects of murderbot's storyline, the song choice is perfect and the visuals are absolutely stunning (like your use of color is fantastic and the ways you incorporated the lyrics into the different frames was so cool), i could gush about this literally forever, i love this series so much and you did it such justice

I had already read the first four novellas, but powered my way through Network Effect in two days just so I could watch this without being spoiled, and it was so worth it. This is wonderful and I'm going to watch it 50 more times.

I know this is perfect, because just like every one of the books by the end of it I was thinking "Damn it Murderbot just accept that people care about you." Beautiful!

Holy crud that hit me right in the feeler. This animation has so many little details from the book the I absolutely am in love with. Like the one clip where Murderbot is standing in front of targetcontrol and the blue lines are also connected to him, hinting at the fact that he is infected. It’s just so cool. Awesome job!!!!

The timing, the lyric choices for each image, the mostly greyscale colour scheme and the choices of where to put the small bits of colour in, the emotion in each picture. Everything is just so perfect for MB. And the last image with MB and its family. It's perfect and beautiful and I love it.

every time I watched this I'm amazed by the use of colour as maware and how great this animation is. I wish there could be an entire animated series in this art style
