1. The Israeli president is basically an ornament. It's the prime minister who has the power. 2. There is a failure on his side, given that the October assault was telegraphed and the people who saw the signs gave warnings and people under the PM (if not him himself) have failed to take it seriously enough to bolster the defenses and stop the attack before it even reached the border fence. It's the Israel DEFENSE Force, and under his responsibility, the IDF had failed to defend the people.

Failing to secure the release of the hostages equates to releasing a disproportionate number of Palestine prisoners (thousands) for 140 Israelis. Does that make sense to you? If it does, then allow me to add that the head of Hamas was a former Palestinian prisoner released (among many other terrorists) for one captured IDF soldier. Lessons must be hopefully learned.

I agree with your whole comment! Netanyahu could not have done anything differently and he has the support of the majority. It is quite obvious that Hamas has no intention of surrendering and it is Hamas who has no regard for its own people. Blaming Netanyahu is a Democratic talking point and it’s because they’re reluctant to blame Hamas and they’re pandering to the progressives who have lost their minds! Until the Palestinians accept that Israel has a right to exist and want a future for their children there will never be peace, that is obvious to anyone who is objective!

They are not hostages. they are prisoners in jails. They are not kept in tunnels or dark rooms all day, they are not kept without meals and showers for days, they are not kept without medical care, and they are not under the age of 12. Every one of them was arrested for a reason. Most of them were convicted already after trial. Those who didn't stand trial yet got arrested on solid intel. A one-year-old baby and his 4 years old brother, can't be compared to prisoners. The prison system in Israel is monitored by the courts and other groups. The courts investigate any complaint, and if there is any wrongdoing, they hold the people responsible for it accountable. The same can't be said about the hostages. Most of which were civilians.

Photos like the gut churning photos of the massacre of Oct. 7 only in black and white. *In 1929 the massacres were committed mostly by mobs. 1929 is 19 years before the reinstitution of Israel, 38 years before Israel got into Gaza strip, 37 years before the process of appropriating the title Palestinians by Arabs has even started.
