Michelle Kish is 20 years old, but is regularly mistaken for a child. The reason? She suffers from an extremely rare genetic disorder called Hallermann-Streiff Syndrome which affects just one in 5 million people.
Michelle’s symptoms include a cranial-facial disorder, cataracts, and dwarfism. Here, she talks about her frustrations, as well as her career plans and what character traits she’d like in a boyfriend.

Think about how many trivial things people complain and dwell upon nearly every day. Vanity...things like oh my god I have a grey hair, or I just seen a wrinkle this morning I have to look into botox. The list goes on and on. I've been dealing with "bullying" for about 10 years. Just because I was so very much lonely, I couldn't get along with others. And right now there are so many people feeling lonely at school - that's a mess!!!! I wouldn't want to RE-LIVE that once again!

An interesting fact about Canada: There is NO specific disability act in place whatsoever to protect disabled people, and very little direct support for disabled people or long-term care in most provinces. In fact, disabled people have even been barred from marriage in places like Ontario! Generally, most provinces including Alberta and Ontario see disabled adults as equivalent to unwanted children who should be barred from participating in normal society! Canada has one of the worst handlings of disability, even worse than most of the USA (which notably has had a disability act since 1990). On a smaller note that shows how directly the country’s government doesn’t take disabled people into consideration, Trudeau promised to ban plastic straws by 2021 (something many disabled people NEED to survive). So! There’s that! Canada’s healthcare system is in place for the healthy and ablebodied, not the disabled or chronically ill.

As a parent of a disabled daughter, this comment is so so true! I live in US and my daughter gets Medicaid but it really only covers medical bills. She’s on a special diet and her food is very expensive. Also even driving to all of the appointments is expensive. Many can be 1-2 hours away. She has at least 5 appointments a week, even some on Saturdays. So yeah honestly if a person is low income, the child ultimately suffers. So sad! I was fortunate to have my own business years before my daughter was born but I always wonder how other parents do it because there’s no way I could work a standard 9-5 with my daughter’s crazy schedule. Honestly, when the mother was naming everything her daughter had, I chuckled because I’m like I can so relate. It’s soooo many things that really u can’t even remember all of them. The list literally goes on and on. Btw my daughter has 17q12 deletion syndrome, another rare genetic disorder.

The main difficulty is that you would have to spend a lot of time as her carer - she is on a ventilator at night and from what I could glimpse, she is PEG-fed. All of this usually means someone has to watch over her at night. I can't speak for England (which sounds like their home) but in Scotland the family would be eligible for carers (it's part of the ventilator/tracheostomy package) it just takes about a year to train them up, the medicines, equipment and feed would be free through the NHS, her admissions to hospital are covered by her parents' taxes and national insurance, and she would definitely be receiving some financial support for disability as well because she clearly would need adaptations and her activities of daily living will be different to someone who doesn't have her health condition. I am a paediatric doctor in Scotland. This is why having a socialist universal medical system is important for a healthy society - people don't become bankrupt just because they gave birth to a child with disability. The option to go to private healthcare is still there for those who prefer it.

+Levente Simon No disrespect, I love both cartoons and anime but cartoons are primarily made with children being the target audience, while in anime the target audience varies a lot, its not just children, and the art style is clearly different. I get what you mean by saying its a seperate category but I would rather be known as a person that watches anime then a person that watches cartoons.
