I'm Making My Own DEAD ANIMAL BITS Plastic Kit And I Need Your Help
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
That's right! I'm going to be making my own plastic kit for kitbashers and converters that is full of Dead Animal Bits. But, I need your help to do so. You can help support this project by checking out my kickstarter project here: www.kickstarter.com/projects/...
All parts were sculpted by Kat Hoppe who has done a fantastic job at rendering my ideas into the components you see in this project. Please do check out her awesome work here: kathoppe.artstation.com/
A big thank you to Ross from @FauxHammer for helping me with the prototyping on this project too. If you want the best 3D printing advice on KZread, then check out his channel!

It still blows me away that more of this sort of thing doesn't already exist. Good luck with the kickstarter!

Yeah the only other thing that really covers something like this is the GW Skulls pack, you'd think there would be more stuff like this. Good on wargames atlantic to partnering with Pete for this, they seem like a good bunch (also if you need Imperial Guard their sets are damn good for the cost, great for basic infantry, 25-30 people per box for half the price of a GW box of 10 peeps).

I find it interesting that there is almost no after market for GW kits. You can get so many upgrade kits for every plastic kit out there, but nothing for GW.

Prob because gw has some insanely greedy rules when it comes to kitbashing. At any gw store, event, tournament, you're actually according to their rule list, supposed to use only gw parts for conversions or parts that you sculpted or created yourself. So, while its ultimately going to be up to the manager/judge's mercy, rule wise you can be told at any of their events/locations that your army is disqualified or not allowed, for something as simple as a single anvil bought head. The result is you don't have as many people trying to use such resources as you'd imagined and the ones who do, are savvy enough usually that they own 3d printers and can edit whatever free stuff they want from online because it has way less chance of being recognized by staff if it isn't something that is sold commercially. If you had a douche judge at a gw tournament, if he recognized pete's kitbash product from this channel, he could straight up disqualify you if he wanted for using something that was bought outside gw ip.
For Dead Man's Hand and other wild west games bones of horses, cattle, bison, wolves, dogs, birds, etc. would be fab. Most mammals have similar skeletons so the spinal and rib bones could work for most things, even whales! Skulls are where the identity of particular animals becomes clear.

I'm thinking the same thing. I don't know how common it was back in the day but my DMH terrain is in desperate need of cattle skull decoration. Also something like carcasses for a butchers stall or trappers den

@@TheSuburbanScumbag there is one cow skull on the gunfighters sprues.
Hell Yeah! I love the Citadel Skulls kit and I was always disappointed they never did something similar for other random bits. This fits that bill perfectly!!! Also stoked to see you're doing it with Wargames Atlantic, their stuff is great!
such a great idea! One part that would be perfect for a kit like this are skulls for hooved animals like deer, for that "spooky pagan" look

At least from the campaign page, it looks like it'll have antlers separately. A whole skull would be nice, but at least you can stick the antlers on something else.
Everyone help fund the project! Bits like these help keep every projects and army interesting. Buy a sprue or 2!

Oh awesome! Thank you! I've estimated about 90 bits per sprue so you really will have a create full coming your way if the campaign goes well 😂
Might this be the first time I'll back a Kickstarter? It's quite tempting... 👀 ...I think my only criticism would be that cit could be even more :D
Bless you, good man. If you're going to start a new trend of custom made plastic bits, you have my money. If you make bits for the upcoming Old World Empire army (to match the older kits they'll re-release) then you will have all my money.
DEAD ANIMAL BITS!!! WHOO!!!
Cool to see that some people are actually going into plastic bits. STL space is so overcrowded right now with very nice artists that another new name will basicly get lost in the dark. Going into plastic sprues from the get go is the right choice.
This is literally something I said just last year, that the hobby needed. More sprues of bits not for specific models, but for decorating and basing. TY
Waow! Keep it up Pete! I really hope you expand with more sprues in the future. Would love to see more from you!!!
YES! tactical rocks, tech pieces, tentacles, insects, smokes, flames so many times i was in need of a few small details
I love this idea and was hoping someone would make a kit with Dead Animal Bits in it. And Wargames Atlantic do make loads of great stuff too. I can't wait for it to be released!
Love this idea of this! Could a "mutations from beyond" (chaos taint) be a possibility?

@@Bluecho4 a Mutation sprue would've been kinda nice to have along with the main set of The Damned
Yes! Plastic superiority. I love cutting stuff and fusing it together with thin plastic glue. I remember the feeling of accidentally droping a plastic + metal miniature and praying to gods that you'll find all the bits. Resin is kinda better, but kinda the same.
Amazing idea, backed it already. I've recently been converting some Night Lords, so have been walking the path of trophy bits. Will there be more bits to add on as the community throws ideas out? The bit I'd like to see is spines, as in vertebrae. It's a really awkward piece to try and sculpt so I gave up.
This is a great idea and deal. Excited to see the finished product.
Just broke the sound barrier clicking thus
Nice one for going for plastic. As someone with no space for a 3D printer, having things in plastic is super convenient.
Great idea!! Can you please include some DAB that are easely attachable to armor and sholderpads? 😁
This looks amazing! Hope it gets funded and to see what else is to come
So fantastic to see this come together, I wholeheartedly support this! The sculpts look great from the previews and I really hope this makes it to goal because this deserves to exist. Great stuff Pete will be following closely!
I have only bought 1 box from wargames atlantic but I thought it was very high quality. If they are making the bits I am sure they will be of good quality. Speaking of, Have you ever thought about painting a few of their models on your channel? I would love to see you paint the Raumjäger or the Einherjar.
this so deserves to get made! EVERYONE GET BACKING ❣
I’m in, fingers crossed it makes the goal!
Pledged so fast! These are brilliant, thank you! My deathwatch terminators cannot wait to see what else you cook up.
Bit different variety would have been nice. Couple full sprues of feathers in the future?
Yay!
This is so fantastic I could really use those pieces!
Ooooh, interesting! I really need A LOT of feathers for my Scarlet Sages Space Marines.
Looks good but wish you had themed it a bit more (e.g. forest animal bits, aquatic animal bits etc). The antlers look nice but I don't want to pay for a half sprue of shark jawbones or hanging human heads etc.
I'm hoping that you will make some new Space Shark conversions with those shark parts when this is officially released
When I saw you were doing this, I thought it was a good idea. When I heard you were partnering with Wargames Atlantic, a company I've simped for going on a couple years, I knew I had to contribute to the Kickstarter. These will no doubt be a great help in putting together my "The Damned" when those arrive. My renegades and heretics need Dead Animal Bits.
I missed the kickstarter with my paycheck, but good feather bits are hard to come by and making my own is time consuming. So I definitely will be getting some whenever its selling I guess.
Best of luck my man, these look great
This is awesome and desperately needed in the hobby.
Hell yes
This is a great idea!
I know what I want this Christmas 😅
Done and done!
Hope it will reach the goal ! Amazing idea and KS.
Backed. Looks great.
I'll certainly give a little pledge in the hope the project expands
Dude, you had my money in the first 5 minutes!!! Can’t wait
Fantastic idea ! I hope it works well !
I love the shark bits and I’d love whale bits . I should make a base for my barbarian orca ! Ugh though I’m in on the damed haven’t got them in yet .
Bet. I do some dabbling with Conquest and would love more bits
Pledged right away, really hope this gets funded. It seems like an awesome kit that could be useful for so many builds.
Super excited for these!
Neat. About time you do this my friend.
Please make some stuff for basing!
My chapter is a Celtic Hunting Themed Chapter, i want these
That´s quite awesome to see, sadly not what I am looking for right now. Maybe you can help me with it, or someone in the comments. I am looking for varies skulls up to the size of a Norn Emisary or the corpse Rippa Vulcha.
Wargames Atlantic makes some top-notch plastic ... but not sure the value quite there. $48 + shipping for 3 sprues to Australia seems pretty steep.
I super appreciate the plastic sprues over 3d printing, but why not both? Maybe as a stretch goal?
This is awesome! If this is successful, I hope we can get a chaos warrior/knight horned helmet kit. I love doing chaos warrior kitbashes and with the old sets discontinued it's become increasingly hard to get extra helmets.
nice bitz 😍
Omgomgomg
This is great. Should it be a success (which of course it will), is there a chance of doing another with skins, pelts etc for non fluffy factions?
More please!
I love this idea. I love bits but I do not like Resin or Metal for bits as they're not as malleable as plastic. I'll take a look!
That is a great idea but considering how big the 3d printing warhammer community has grown recently and how more accessible it got i believe that the STL idea should not be discarded also as a smaller contribution price especially if you go through the effort of providing good pre-supported items for resin printing it would be more than fair and also help fund the plastic version
Pete- ". . . I'm partnering with Wargames Atlantic . . ." Me- "ooOOOoooo, nice." That said, the assortment seems a bit lackluster. Or maybe my own kitbashing just doesn't run in the same paths as Pete's?

Success!🎉
If the kickstarter ends up being successful are the bits gonna be for sale normally? I really i really like the shark jaws and wonder if there's plans for more marine themed bits
Hope it gets funded!
I genuinely read the unit filler warhammer community article in your voice.
Need a fur kit. Fur cloaks, loin cloths, fur shoulder drapes, fur banners, severed bear heads, severed wolf heads, severed lion heads etc.
Never have I clicked faster.
What I really wish someone would make is rubbish! Cans, bottles, newspapers, weeds and bins et cetera. From there street furniture, lamp posts, benches, electricty boxes, signs, traffic lights and also interior furniture. Something that suggests a lived in place and not the sterile movie lot that you almost always see. I just watched Zorpazorp building the new epic terrain and that gives an example of what I mean, just empty sterile buildings, no sense that it's a living structure that people work and live in.

I am a huge fan of Wargames Atlantic, and really want to back this kit, but will they be shipping from the UK or US? They have a huge US presence and infrastructure, and I'd hate to have to pay shipping from the UK for three sprues.
I really hope this is successful for you because I love the concept. I don't use many dead animal bits in my conversions so I'm gonna pass, but I'll definitely keep Watchung if you do any more in the future
Backed before the video even finished loading 😁
will contribute.
I don't have any use for this myself, I just enjoy watching conversions, but it's pretty cool.
If this succeeds will there be a Handy Storage Bits kickstarter? 😅 Joking aside I really hope this makes it.
Do a felenid conversion
Holy god, please make a mutations sprue if this goes well. Extra arms, scorpion tails ect ect ect.

how about 3D printing? 😂
Weapons
Why a kickstarter for a sprue when you can 3D print and sell? Genuinely curious.
@PeteTheWargamer
7 ай бұрын
There are a couple of reasons really. Partly because plastic as a material is far easier to modify than resin which makes it great for conversion work and secondly, accessibility. While some people have a great 3d printing setup and can print off stuff all day every day, not everyone has that option. I've got nothing against 3D printing but I personally prefer plastic and I know a lot of other people feel the same way.
@Wigalot
7 ай бұрын
@@PeteTheWargamer You can 3D print in plastic of various types. No resin involved. I didn't mean the buyers do the printing. I probably should have been a bit clearer. You do the printing or source someone to print a bunch of runs for you, then just sell them.
@Ravioliboi
7 ай бұрын
@@PeteTheWargamerthank you so much for making this decision. There are far too many STL kickstarters already and a plastic sprue is exactly the ideal product for kitbashing. If kickstarter would take paypal as a payment method I would back in a heartbeat.
@Wigalot

@@Ravioliboi I'm not talking about an STL Kickstarter. You can 3D print in plastic already. Pete's two reasons for doing a kickstarter are coz it's plastic and it's accessable. 3D printing can print in plastic and a 3D printer being accessible isn't an issue if you print and sell. Kickstarter just adds another middleman and additional expense.
I wish you all the best with this. I'll have to pass since it's plastic and not STL's though.
