That specific species of dahlia may not be heat tolerant. Some dahlias love heat and others wilt in over 90 degrees. I recommend moving to a cooler, shady location with some sun, but definitely out of direct sun and water as usual. Hope this helps and love your channel❤❤❤

I know absolutely nothing about gardening, That's why I watch you :) Having said that, my logic is telling me that if it has plenty of water, then it could be the heat, it's over crowded, it's stressed out or it's doomed. I didn't mention my logic can be fractured at times. :) I hope it feels better soon P. S. Found this on the Google : 🥀 Why Are My Garden Dahlia Leaves Droopy? Water stress causes droopiness, adjust by checking soil moisture before watering. Improve soil and drainage with compost and perlite for robust roots. Nutrient balance is key, choose low-nitrogen fertilizer and monitor levels. Dec 16, 2023

I had this happen last year. I took out a plant from the container and gave it only 6 hours of sun for 2-3 days and it perked right back up!

Can you feel down in the soil to make sure the tuber didn't rot? We really have had a lot of rain and I know you water your pots daily. Otherwise I would wait and see. Dahlias are pretty easy, but don't like to stay wet and are heavy feeders. I grow a lot of them, and have had to pitch a few that were still waiting to go into permanent home and didn't have good drainage. Good luck!

My first thought is tuber rot too, if it's not water related. Also, any voles that could have gotten into the pot and eaten the tuber? More than likely is tuber related.

Mine are doing that out in my field, and I think it's because we have been getting so much rain. That's the only thing that is different for me this year. I know they don't like wet feet, and that's what mine have had for weeks. 😢 I hope mine recover too. Good luck.🤞

Lake City Michigan here, not far from you Corey. 2 of 3 of my Dalaya Pink+Lemon Dahlia have done this exact same thing. They were healthy and in great condition, I just assumed the heat was too much for too long and too early in our season?

I’ve had some of mine do that because they developed a crack in the stem near the soil after being hit by high winds and not having been staked. Putting in 2 -3 stakes with twist ties, far enough out to not puncture the tubers, holds the stem steady and sometimes it heals and recovers. Otherwise I suspect tuber rot.

Mine are like this every morning. (we're experience 95+ daytime highs right now,) by 10 a.m. I water them in the mornings. They really only get about 4 hours of direct sunlight and are shaded after that. They perk up once the shade moves over them, but I'm reluctant to move because otherwise they're looking *really* good (they haven't bloomed yet, they stay outside year 'round so it takes longer.)

To much humidity, try watering the leaves. The plant is having a hard time cooling off and it can't take up water and food like it needs. Cool the plant down by watering the leaves. Don't drench, just spray them to get them wet. Do a couple times a day. I hope it helps, you have nothing to lose at this point.

Is this a pop quiz Corey? If it's not too dry and not too wet, maybe it's hungry :) My answer is: be patient and carry on as usual and hopefully the dahlia will recover :)

I bought 2 for the first time this year. After watching Corey (this is how my nephew spells his name sorry if it’s wrong here) I decided to move out of my comfort zone a bit. And they are doing horribly. First, I didn’t get them into a pot quick enough I don’t think I because my job as a teacher left me exhausted after school. Then when I did pot them the weather turned crazy! Too hot. Too wet in Canton. Too humid. Too cold. I pulled them from the one pot they were planted in and separated them with more space. Two days ago i moved them to the sun and bought a moisture meter (but am not confident how to use it lol). Yesterday it was in the low 70s no sun and it spattered rain all day! I still gardened because the raindrops were far in between. Then it poured at night and again this am. After the front moved through it has been so humid and tropical - 87 and 73% humidity. The dahlia leaves are still wilted but it looks like there are new leaves sprouting up. I am going to keep an eye and thinking maybe I should cut the really wilted leaves off.

From Swan Island on growing in containers/raised beds: "In general, dahlias do not do as well in pots or containers as they do directly in the ground. If you choose to grow your dahlias in pots or containers, we recommend using the low-growing or dwarf varieties of dahlias, as they are easier to maintain. However, any variety can be grown in a raised bed or container. When choosing a container, ensure there is adequate room for tuber growth. A dahlia could be easily planted in a 15" x 15" pot. For example, you could plant 3 full-size dahlias in a “whiskey barrel” sized pot due to the volume of soil. Raised beds should be a minimum of 12" deep to allow proper growth and drainage. The planting medium should be 2/3 garden soil/topsoil to 1/3 potting soil or all garden soil. Potting soil alone is too porous, dries out too quickly, and will cause poor growth and blooming results. Be sure that the potting soil and garden soil used are not chemically sterilized or treated with any type of weed killer or herbicide. Avoid potting soil that includes high nitrogen fertilizers, such as Miracle-Gro, compost, etc., as they will burn and rot the tubers. The difference between growing in containers rather than on the ground is they will need water to start growing. Please make sure to keep your soil slightly damp or cool to the touch after planting, not soaking wet. After planting and until you see the sprouts above the soil level, water sparingly, about once a week. Overwatering to keep the soil wet will result in rotting tubers. Once the dahlias have sprouted above the soil, water them daily or as often as you would any other container plants. After plants are 12" high, potted dahlias will require extra watering and fertilizing to promote proper growth and blooming. We recommend fertilizing dahlias in containers and raised beds much more often than those planted directly in the ground, as the fertilizer is washed through the soil quicker. Dahlias need to be watered consistently for proper growth and blooming. In containers, we suggest watering them 1 to 2 times daily once your dahlias are above the ground. Fertilize approximately every 2-3 weeks with low nitrogen fertilizer or choose a slow-release fertilizer and follow the manufacturer’s recommendations. In raised beds, you will water less often than in a container; however, more often than dahlias planted directly in the ground due to drainage. Fertilizing your dahlias in raised beds is similar to containers, applying it every 2-3 weeks."

I love dahlias but every single time, they end up with powder mildews, and all the leaves starts to turn yellow. No more planting them next year. 🙁

lol the same here but it has been quite a while since I tried so I was giving it another go and needless to say it isn’t working as well as I hoped. Not even close. All wilted. No blooms. Barely hanging on.

Not a dahlia but in the heat had two supertunias wilt and die. Watered daily so for me too much water I think. Symptoms for over and under watering kinda same.

Maybe too much water and the tuber is starting to rot. Never had that happened to my dahlias. Hope you figure it out.

I have some dahlias that can’t stand the heat. they are in pots on my deck. I have to give them midday shade. Says full sun, which in my zone 4 means full sun. But not for this type of dahlia. My other types of dahlias are fine.
