I’m Gonna Sit Right Down (And Write Myself A Letter) ft. Luca Pino
Музыка
Hello from the Rialto Square Theater in Joliet, IL!
I am currently on tour with Post Modern Jukebox and had some time before soundcheck today, so our guitarist, Luca Pino, and I decided to film a little something for fun!
This theater was just too stunning not to capture a little but of it on video!
Luca is an amazing guitarist and musician from LA that I’ve had the pleasure to get to know over the past week, and he’s got such a love for older music and films like I do!
Since we have some time before sound check, we are going to try to do a handful of these little videos becasue they’re fun!
This song,"I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter", is a 1935 popular song with music by Fred E. Ahlert and lyrics by Joe Young. It has been recorded many times, and has become a standard of the Great American Songbook. It was popularized by Fats Waller, who recorded it in 1935 at the height of his fame.
This is honestly one of my favorite tunes!

When I click on a Dr. Allison Young video, my blood pressure immediately drops down, my stress level goes away and a smile breaks out of it's frowning prison. Hence the honorific.
The redhead with a twinkle in her eyes ...and a voice like a beautiful bird.
Love it when young people find these old gems and do a great job singing them.

And the absolute Joy that we get to hear them sing and play!
I saw these two artists and many more at a fabulous PMJ show last night. They were all enormously talented but whenever Allison sang the audience was transfixed.
It doesn't get better than this. Such charme, such musicality and such skills. What a gift to receive on days of gloom! Thanks to two wonderful artists for making us smile!
As a drift irreversibly into old age, it is a comfort to know that these old song gems (predating me by a couple of decades) are going to be lovingly passed along into the future by such excellent artists.
Such a sweet heart she's so cute
That music is what Sunday was made for. Great job guys.
Outstanding. Nobody sings like you today. Keep doing your art. You are wonderful. ❤️🌹🌹🌹🌹❤️
I am deeply, deeply in love with Allison Young. Phew....there I finally said it.
So Beautiful..Her voice,His playing...and the obvious joy both were exhibiting
She's wonderful and you can tell she knows da history real good and the training shines as sweet as her smile ! Wonderful and full of charm with the sadness tucked inside !!
That was lovely. Everybody in my apartment stopped what they were doing and just stood there listening while it played.
i've spent a good portion of the day listening to your music, i clicked on your channel and hit pay all; i've sung along with so many, my favorite has been stardust. i used to sing that to my daughters when rocking them to sleep, now i sing it to my grand daughters; just not as well as you.
Talent like that is a gift to all of us, not just the recipient with the magic vocal chords.
You two are so, so...so... so sweet!!!
Dang! Luca's picking is a perfect match to your singing! I haven't heard anything from you in a while, so this was absolutely delicious!

Xactly right.
WOW !!!! .... .............................................
virtuoso talents both! i love it when the accompaniment isn't just twinkling in the background, but flourishes and dances like a vocalist's partner, and luca's guitar dances so so majestically.
Love this song, one of the first I recall hearing in childhood. Allison, You are a terrific artist !
Oh, how I have missed this voice! Glad to see you’re doing okay!
Allison does these old songs so well. When I need the blues lifted I listen to Allison. Better than any pill. Luca is perfect too.
Allison and Luca! Dynamic Duo !!!
when people are meant to meet... they meet, regardless anything, whatever their meet means... and occasionally we may enjoy it. i really enjoy this meeting and the location, but the meeting before anything :)
Thanks for the history of the song. It’s one of those things, you know you’ve heard it before, but can’t remember where or when. So this is a song my mom would have listened to on the radio, or maybe her Dad and his friends would have played it while hanging out together. The good songs never die.
Well that was brilliant very good 😁😁😁😁

You are so welcome lovely 😁😁😁😁
I hope Pat Boone hears this rendition of the song he made more famous in the fifties. Great job, Allison!!
Your Grannie's music is my Mother's music. I still have her Ink Spots album which was made before albums became 12 inch disks; they were only 10 inch at the time. I love your work and I appreciate the fact that you don't ruin songs by trying to be a "Song Stylist". I love hearing them done as they originally were. You have an incredible voice and I hope you can make it make you wealthy. Keep up the fabulous work. :)
What a great way to start my Sunday morning. Thank you for sharing your gift
Just fantastic, voice, guitar wizard, beautiful, thanks, made me smile. Awesome jazz groove, more please
What a lovely song done just for fun, especially for one who remembers hearing this on an old tube type AM radio when he was a kid!
So glad I've found your channel. Lovin ALL your songs ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Magical!! What wonderful Talent. I Loved it. Thanks for putting my Happy Face back on.
Heavens, ever time I listen to this it puts a smile on my face... thank you to both of you.
Beautiful music, performance, and setting. Thank you.
Fabulous!
So glad you're posting music again - it's been missed
Allison was born 100 years too late, but I'm glad she was!
It's nice when vocals are not only notes, but also feelings. GooD)))))))
Thank you, Allison! The Mills Brothers rendition of this song was one of my mother's favorites and I remember it playing in our house often. You and Luca did a beautiful job!
Beautiful. My dad used to play that Fats Waller album when I was a boy. Thank you.
Bravo! Doesn't get any better than your voice and choice of an outstanding acoustical player. Beautiful music in a troubled world. Thank you very much...
That was absolutely fantastic. The two of your perfectly charming instruments!

What an amazing voice and performance once again. You really put more life and new life into these old standards. Thank you so much for posting.
This song was a hit again circa 1950
I want to hear so badly to sing one song with me my words my Lord such a lesson
Very classy voice bringing back memories of wonderful times ! Guitar reminiscent of Django Reinhardt ! Superb combination. Thanks!
Superb! Lovely, virtuosic vocals and deft Django-style guitar. You'd knock 'em dead in Paris in the '20s!
Your voice is my auditory happy place! Love the guitar part too, y’all have great energy!
Allison, that was just beautiful, thankyou
Good luck with your tour, Allison. I'm sure that everyone will love you, just like we do.
Just came across these "before soundcheck" jewels. Enjoying them all! Thanks a bunch
Holy smokes, I feel like I should have paid for this! That voice!! Thanks, kid!
I didn't know anybody else still knew this song. My father always used to sing it when I was growing up and it has stuck with me through the years. What a wonderful job on an old classic. Simply wonderful. I could watch and listen to you for hours. Keep it up.
I wish I could like it twice times ten!
SO beautiful, everything was perfect
WOW......Not only was that, as always, super good, it was such uplifting fun.....Thank you
Oh yes - Allison - that's it 👏👍👍😍
Какая кошечка)! Умение петь сделало её ещё восхитительней!
Absolutely brilliant both of you. Done on the spur of the moment too. IMPRESSIVE.
Wow. Just. Wow.
Absolutely incredible. One take, I-phone.... yes, unbelievable.
Delightful video. Watch it everyday.
I have been one of Allison Young's admirers for sometime. As for Luca Pino I can see he did not take the money meant for guitar lessons and spend it at the pool hall. What a great voice, what a great guitarist and what a great song, thanks to both of you.
This never fails to put a smile on my face... magical❤
What a blessed gem in these dark times.Gives me goosebumps.TY for sharing. You have no idea how powerful you are.
So casual, calm, and soothing.
Wonderful! That's ENTERTAINMENT!!!
Allison I love your voice for all these old songs. Aaaaaaa. Like if you went back in time you'd be as famous as Frankie and the lot.
Fantastic 👍👍👍👍
Finally! Fats Waller! Love it!
Ah, such a voice!! 😄🎵
Never stop. You are soooo good!
I finished playing Bioshock recently. This is such a Bioshock radio moment.
Another class act so nice to see in these troubled times keep up the splendid work many thanks from Wal in Australia 🇦🇺
Love this song. Fats Waller was just one of those song writer/performers who was a joy to watch. Thanks for this. Wished I could have seen him live, yet with this venue and all the others we can enjoy all the past and present greats with just a finger tap. A lot of this new generation stuff is, well, pretty good. Thank you again for reminding me of an old song with a good memory attached to it.
We love to play this tune also with our jazzband. Thank for this excellent performance
Now this is why you're my favorite singer. I love the scat you put in there too.
Allison is always wonderful to hear. Mr Pino did a fine job of accompanying her.
Uh.... PERFECT .
Really coll Allison & Luca. A perfect song!
Allison, you're an extraordinary talent. Best of wishes to you. I hope fate smiles on you!
You two are adorable and absolutely, ridiculously talented! I love it.
Magical!!!
Allison, you have a wonderfully natural toned voice that works really well with Luca's guitar.
Great guitar playinf from Luca!
Nice. Added to my playlist.
Please can you sing “ I’ll be seeing you “ I dearly love that song And personally , I’m this day and age of singers 😂😂 You’re the best to sing that beautiful classic , hands down !!! Thank you for the consideration
Hi Allison. I love your love for music from a time long gone. I love that you bring it forward again too. For some people today, that music seems unique, even though it is not. To you and those that love your expression, we know it.
im in love!! this is prob the first time im smiling while watching someone sing this beautiful🤎
Someday, and I trust this will happen, my wife and I will walk into a club and hear something like this. Hopefully, it will involve these two. But you never know.
Shows - once again - what a difficult instrument the guitar is -Hard work even for such a proficient player...
Since you're covering Fats Waller, I'd love to hear you do a couple of his more obscure ones: "Night Wind" and "I Wish That I Were Twins." And while we're at it, "On the Sunny Side of the Street," which he claimed was stolen from him. Love your videos! The old music keeps me young!
I really like these simple recordings. Thank you Allison!
Made my Sunday better.
An outstanding performance from two great artists.
SOOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOOOD!
Allison you have such joy on your face while you sing! It shows you love it very much! Keep these songs coming for us who don't get to see you live! I LOVE Your Voice so much you beautiful lady!
