I like how they didn't make the Orc Lord into a cartoonish villain, the orcs in this show are probably the most hard working and grateful people.

This is my favorite arc because everything seems so black and white at first (orcs evil) but the effect of starved made them aggressive, which anyone would be when starved (while under the effect of the skill, they would never die from starvation, but would never be sated no matter how much they ate). Rimuru showed tremendous compassion because he realized they were truly that desperate and essentially on the verge of extinction.

From what I heard, Rimuru and Geld were pretty evenly matched and their battle could have gone on for days with no clear victor. Ultimately, Rimuru talked Geld into giving up. I will devour your sins and the sins of your brethren.

orc lord was worry what would happen to his kin if he were to die, which resulted in him continue the fight. Rimuru pretty much agree to only punish him, to take them on and to support them. that was the push for him to stop, since he knew his own skill was also hurting his people.

I think the essence of greed that rimuru claims is that he will do what he can do to make everyone happy as it makes him feel happy too. The mindset and logic is that he do good because it makes him feel good which can be seen as self-centered or greed

I love this show so much. My interpretation on the "you're greedy" is less of a negative thing and more acknowledging the aspect of rimuru that is the classic saving EVERYONE trope in anime protagonists. Like, how often do our protagonists try and fail to save everyone? Or feel horrible because they weren't able to? To believe that you are capable of not only defeating the disaster, but all of his sins AND the sins of his bretheren is showing that Rimuru's interests extend beyond what is in front of him. The extent of his 'greed' or maybe better yet ambition is all encompassing. And what is more, Geld wanted the same thing. He wanted the power to save all of his people. And he became starved to do so. But at the end of the day, he couldn't accomplish his dream. He knows where that 'greed' - selfless or not - ends up. But here this person stronger than him shows up essentially promising the same, while also giving peace... I think calling Rimuru greedy was what GAVE him that peace because Geld realized that more than anything, his will was passing on to another foolish or greedy enough to continue his goals of saving everyone. And the fact that rimuru ate the sins implies that he will not hold the other orcs responsible. So even though greed is usually selfish and full of malice, I think it is being used here as the opposite - a hunger or desire to stretch beyond what rimuru has, but through selflessness and kindness.

It's kind of shown in the anime by the sun coming up, but it took Rimiru several hours to eat the Orc Disaster because the two of them were close in power. As they were fighting Rimiru was getting his slime body attacked and dissolved by the power of the Orc Disaster. That's why parts of Rimiru was breaking apart and puffing away in greenish smoke. The anime leaves out a lot of details here. There's also the fact that the anime subtitles call the Orc Disaster a Demon Lord. The correct translation is that the Orc Lord became a Demon Lord Seed after evolution Orc Disaster. A Demon Lord Seed can evolve into a True Demon Lord. But Demon Lord Seeds are not anywhere near as strong as True Demon Lords. Since Rimiru ate the Orc Lord he gained the Demon Lord Seed status himself. Rimiru's power just jumped A LOT. The Orc Lord's Starved got combined with Rimiru's Predator to make a more powerful unique skill that has the abilities of both skills without the whole bad side effect of Starved that the Orc Lord and the rest of the Orcs suffered, that made them go on a rampage of consuming everything in site.

10:14 When monsters evolve, they know what race they become. The same voice that says “notice” and then says you have acquired skills and what not. That is voice of the world. Easily confused with Great sage cus they share the same voice. Great sage think of them as an ai assistant. Word/voice of the world hands out skills, and announces evolutions and what not. There is more to it i just dont wanna get too deep. But yeah everyone when they evolve hears Voice of the wold saying Notice, this individual is evolving from ____ to ____. So geld knows what he is.

Rimuru could better absorb Geld's power as they were eating each other. Their unique skills have a lot of overlap but a few differences. Geld was sharing his power partially to the other orcs with the skill Starved, and Predator can isolate toxins. Shizu's unique skill might of helped Rimuru as well. And Veldora's power slowly leaking out for Rimuru certainly doesn't hurt in a war of attrition. Geld being worried that the other Orc's would be persecuted for War Reperations just adds to his leadership skill. Rimuru saying he would take those "sins", paying for the damage the Orcs did, is one hell of a way to win the Orcs loyalty. And Rimuru paying back the races that were damaged, means those races want Rimuru to stick around so they get payed back. Rimuru takes on war debt, but gains economic cooperation from others.

This is the end of the beginning right here, it just climbs to amazing heights after this Great reaction as always, can’t wait to see you see more!

i dont read the manga but someone said there is a (future) scene they dont include in the anime where an opponent basically refers to rimuru as a god (because he is merciful/forgiving) i wont give full details til we get to that episode but rimuru is definitely such a nice dude!

Season 3 is already at episode 10, loved that you are enjoying the series so far... I also heard you guys talking about what will gobta's weapon would be or something like that, well, that will be in season 2, won't spoil it but we will surely help you out on discussing stuff...
