This video is my last review of free or gifted products. While I’m massively grateful for the products I’ve been sent in the past, I feel the time is right to switch to only reviewing products that have been chosen and bought by me.
Most “KZreadrs” give honest and fair reviews of free products, but if you haven’t paid for it out of your own pocket how can you give a 100% unbiased review? You’ve got no skin in the game. Unconscious bias can also creep in here.

I agree completely, youtube has become obsessed with gear and spending lots of money. Some people think hiking and camping is a fashion parade. All the gear and no idea. It doesn't matter how much money you spend on your tent or your technical t-shirt, it doesn't make you more experienced. I like your parody videos too😊

Don't blame you mate. I watch channels for the gear, but also for the banter. I don't want videos that go much past 20 mins. I will watch people's adventures. But only if they keep my attention. Anyone who is trying to make money from being a "content creator" or "influencer" has my sympathy. To get a large number of followers and keep them must be really hard. I love your style and sense of humour.

I have the female version of that bag and I love it. It's a quirky thing, and I don't think it utilises the capacity great...other 35 ltr rucksacks I have can fit way more in, but I still use this a lot, especially for winter day mountain walks when I need more kit and love the easy access-perfect for photography/video equipment.

A good decision on testing freebies. That shows some integrity on your part, well done. Good to hear some more tongue in cheek are on the way. As you rightly said, some channels have got a bit serious and solely kit review focused. This is a shame as it would be far better talking about the trip/camp itself and how the kit was chosen or how it did for the different environments and weather conditions.

Good for you. I grew tired of watching people review 'free stuff'. Most people who have other outgoings - mortgage, rent, car repayments, technically ambitious teenagers etc have to choose wisely what to spend their drug dealing money on... Tell them to send me the free stuff and I'll sell it and split the money. £££££ :)

There was a movie reviewer here in the states who insisted on paying for his own movie ticket because it added in his mind whether the movie was really worth the money he spent for it. Now when you are testing the latest blockbuster tent you won't be thinking about how nice Tom Cruise was when he dropped it off at your house.

Many of us receive numerous emails offering free items in exchange for video reviews. By creating a video for a "free" item worth no more than a few hundred, the brands save a significant amount of money. Typically, a quality product review, like the ones you made, if they hired an editor and videographer would cost around £400-500 These companies send mass emails to many creators, and as seen on KZread, many accept and make video reviews for these free items. It is what it is.

Good to see you back. Totally agree with your decision regarding free stuff. I don't get free stuff and doubt I will. My channel is mainly about my own gear I've bought but that is only because I'm still unable to get out after the attempt at flying over a car bonnet😂 Reviewing gear you have chosen and bought has more integrity. I do think people are more inclined to give free stuff an easier ride. I always enjoyed your gear hauls at decathlon etc and it seemed more like how the rest of us get gear. The glut of reviews on YT all for the same brand of tent was a joke. Talking of jokes. Really looking forward to your next parody video. ATB and thanks for the content👍

The first day doesn't worry as I could hobble to the end with blisters but it is the latter days that I'm thinking about. And yes, weight will be kept to a minimum.

@@tonysutton6559 OK got it. my advice would be a dry run fully loaded. a week before. a week should give you time to recover if you have any problems. what you don't want to do is get blisters the first day. the socks, don't really matter, two pairs of any thin socks or a thicker pair of sock otherwise. if it was twenty miles I'd say socks come into play. not really that important at ten miles.# good luck.
