Congratulations!! I recently watched your vid on knocking out your student loan debt and it was such an inspiration. I have student loan and consumer CC debt, which is what gave me the motivation to take control of my finances and really make my money work for ME, instead of feeling like I was living paycheck to paycheck and a slave to my money. Your videos have consistently offered a breath of fresh air with your abundance mindset and the kindness and grace you show yourself throughout the entire process of setting, working towards, and achieving your financial (and overall life) goals. I got into 7k of CC debt in order to move off of my sister's couch after college. I am only a few weeks away from paying it off after almost a year of working really hard to whittle it down! After that I will tackle my 35k in student loans. It's really nice to hear your story. Congratulations

Wow, okay thank you so much for commenting about your experience! I have about 7k of cc debt as well and calculating how quick I’ll be able to pay it off left me a bit discouraged because it’s going to take me about a year as well. Everyone seems to be making tons of money and paying things off super quick so I felt like it would take so long for me to do that much compared to others. I feel a lot better now that I know you’ve done the same as what I’m about to try. Thanks!

Lowering your spending is a pay raise you grant yourself.

I feel like most financial KZreadrs are like "I just paid off my 3rd house." I feel like you're an average American that inspires others with more realistic numbers. Thank you.

I dont know if its slightly different in Canada, but I just recently paid off my car and it didnt fully hit me that the car was mine until I opened the mail one day shortly after paying, and it contained the car deed! I kinda forgot I would receive that and it was such a great feeling! Congrats to you!

I have $21k out of my original $57k left to pay off. This video inspired me to keep going. Thanks for sharing your journey with us Zoe, and congrats!!

Isn't the whole idea of going into debt for a degree is to earn more money ??

I started a sinking fund this time last year for Christmas gifts and it was a game changer! It felt so nice going into January and only having a little left to pay off on my credit card because I had already saved up for it in advance. I've kept it going this entire year for gifts, and each paycheque I contribute a small amount into a savings account. Once I'm debt free, I want to have a sinking fund for trips.

Also Zoe not sure if you’ll see this but I was so similar to you with completion and it ended up I was diagnosed with ADHD! It’s helped me understand myself so much! I think with my finances I had that same feeling.

Hey Zoe! Super congrats on on your debt payment!!!! I’m super proud of you and even though we are 20 some years apart😂 I feel like this is me….. I had a $ 20,000 car loan and while I was making minimum payments, when Covid was at the tail end, I got a great job and was able to really put a dent into paying off my debt! It took exactly 1 yr for me to pay off that debt from the time I got my new job, so when you talk about driving around in your car knowing how it’s already paid off…..that feeling is the BEST!!

CONGRATS GIRL!!!! I’m so happy and so proud of you!!! I’m debt free now but I did go into debt for wisdom teeth extraction and both my cars. I traded in my first car when the market was hot hot hot. Girl, I got my 2017 Acord Sport for 26k (39k milage and paid off) and sold it for 23k. Once in a life time experience. Paid off my 2022 Honda HR-V in early March this year.

I have that same issue Zoe - I won't finish something even if I'm super close to finishing. I think part of it is having a "perfectionist" mindset, where if you finish the task that would theoretically mean it is completed perfectly, when in reality we aren't ready to put that stamp of approval of "it's perfect so I can finish it" If we put it off for later that means we still have time to perfect it But in reality we should just finish the task anyway!! Better to be done and turned it rather than 90% done and waiting for the perfect time to submit

Glad I came across your page, I'm from Ontario as well. Currently paid of 4k on one card another 2 k on another. So total CC debt left is about 1800$. Up next my car loan which is 18k. I really regret getting a car way out my budget but the car market has been so crazy this year even used. Would have driven my old Volkswagen till the wheels fell off, but the It was totalled a year ago. keep it going! :)

I'm out of 'bad debt'--no credit card debt, car loan, etc. It really does feel amazing, and to pay off $55K must be such a relief. I went through a similar issue lacking financial discipline, especially during the pandemic while trapped at home, impulse buying online. What I've got left is the 'big one': my mortgage. That's going to take a while, of course, but I'm enjoying squirreling away money each month into index funds for a planned big lump sum at renewal down the line and seeing it accumulate while I chip away at my mortgage. It almost becomes a game when you have that goal in front of you, and I like to budget based on percentages of take home to avoid lifestyle creep from getting in the way of savings/retirement goals.

Hi Zoe, I’m currently watching your video and will definitely subscribe to your channel 🥰 It’s so cool to find someone talk about personal finance, but in Canada! I’m from Mirabel, and i have been watching personal finance videos for weeks now, but they’re all american so it’s hard to relate. My husband and i bought a house back in September 2023, so needless to say we have had many many many expenses for the new home since then. Between credit card debt, car debt and line of credit, we owe about 42 500$. I’m one of those people who doesnt really mind having car debt. I feel like whenever we pay it off we will just end up trading it in or getting a second vehicle so i am in no rush to pay that portion off. But the rest….. it’s gotta go!
